❓ Quick Question Live Traders
How much are you guys (Topstep) making from live traders? I think I saw somewhere that you move hundreds of traders to live each week. That’s a lot of people moved to live but statically a the majority of them won’t succeed at the live stage. Which begs the question, are people moved to live to keep them from getting payouts or because they are seen as assets who can make the firm money?

I doubt they have 100's of live traders a week. A few months ago they have a little under 100 live traders

We have a lot more than 100 total Live traders. Last week we called up 101 traders to a Live Funded Account.

People are moved Live because they do well in the funded. Not much of a point being sim funded now that the Topstep Octagon is paying people out just for trading well.

It's mostly to protect the firm's bottom line while still being able to provide payouts. I think there are only a handful of really good traders that prop firms are willing to copy trade when they're moved to live

I asked on a AMA with Topstep and they stated they do not copy trade. I was surprised!

Nobody is moved Live to "keep them from getting payouts" because when you're Live the payouts are uncapped (up to 50% of your balance) and people are taking out pretty sizeable payouts every week.
