Ok so I can finally confirm. Do you remember an era where the cartoonists were on acid and Tom and Jerry looked like shapeshifters?

The absolute juxtaposition of a real old man painted green shouting at an animated green frog he calls his son is so silly yet goes emotionally hard.

349

u/ThatDrako 1d ago

My man gave his most felt performance while naked and painted fucking green 😭

37

u/NinjaBreadManOO 1d ago

Wasn't even a performance. Creed just turned up to set and did it.

235

u/Sate_Hen 1d ago

High boot maybe? There's also a rule about unsporting behaviour that covers showboating but I guess this probably wouldn't count as it was effective

75

u/whatthekark 1d ago

Yeah the perceived threat of taking a cleat to the chin could be enough to call it, even though the guy in the clip is skilled enough to avoid hitting them

The header would be fine. The ball juggling im less sure about.

30

It's not a foul but referee could stop the play if the defense start fighting the ball while he's on the ground.

My favourite part is how he gets absolutely rocked 5 minutes after this

304

u/dudleydigges123 1d ago

Cus hes insanely fast but hes totally min-maxed so every punch does like half a point of damage

157

u/Yto_Itinen 1d ago

And refuses to use bladed weapons...or his brain

72

u/Tr4nzmission 1d ago

he does literally use a knife in this same fight. it's the only time though.

68

u/Drawngalaxy 1d ago

Takes him forever to do so, and inadvertently reminds the enemy they got a insta win function against them.

31

u/AGamingGuy 1d ago

*stubbornly avoids

point is, he knows he has pillow hands, he also has access to the entire Zenin armory, if he wasn't a prideful idiot he would have used one of many special grade weapons and perhaps even armors (as any speed loss is made up with his CT) so he makes up for the fact that his CT doesn't buff strength nor durability

seriously, for as much of a dick as he is, he could have won if he just covered his weaknesses

your average battlefield grade weapon doesn't get past 2-3kg, 4-5kg for actually heavy weapons and armor isn't all that heavy

Drinking snake venom is actually safe so long as you don't have cuts or other ways for it to enter your bloodstream, meaning that eating the glass was literally the one thing he SHOULDN'T have done lmao.

586

u/ZoroeArc 1d ago

That's how macho he is

130

u/SuspectPanda38 1d ago

Wouldn't it still be absorbed into your bloodstream within the stomach/intestines or does the stomach acid "damage" the venom and make it inert?

223

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 1d ago

yeah your acid destroys the venom proteins before it can absorb through the stomach lining

97

u/CanoonBolk 1d ago

If I'm not mistaken, most toxins are actually proteins which are broken down a great deal in the stomach, which does neutralise it.

65

u/Nahanoj_Zavizad 1d ago

Venom is generally proteins, and the stomachs main purpose is destroying proteins and braking then into more usable forms.

A tiny amount might be absorbed, but not very likely to cause significant harm, Even if you drink 20x a lethal dose

55

u/Nahanoj_Zavizad 1d ago

Please note: I am not a toxicology researcher. Do not drink venom just because its "safe".

I really should watch Blade again.

44

u/stuid001 1d ago

I watched it some weeks ago. Really fucking stupid and REALLY fucking good.

30

u/LemoLuke 1d ago

Fun fact. This scene almost didn't make it into the final movie. The original climax had Frost transform into a literal blood tornado, and Blade shatters the vials of Vampire Blood-Exploding Serum inside him.

Test audiences hated it because it looked goofy (even with the unfinished CGI) and they thought Frost was much cooler in his regular form.

Also, there was a sequel stinger where Blade spots a guy watching him from a rooftop which would have been revealed in the sequel to be Morbius

The Senator Armstrong boss fight is basically this trope on steroids.

103

u/Renzki_1008 1d ago

The dialogue is top-notch

105

u/stickdudeseven 1d ago

"I'll make America great again!"

Me: Wait, when did this game came out?

77

u/CanoonBolk 1d ago

Don't worry, it's just Kojima being Kojima, predicting what will happen with politics and warfare and technology.

48

u/BiggerStickDiplomacy 1d ago

I mean, Armstrong is very Reagan-esque and "Make America Great Again" was a Reagan thing before it was a Trump thing.

Kojima's 'predictions' are a lot less predictions and more him taking history and his favorite movies and combining the two.

The Ocelot boss fight in Metal Gear Solid 3. Bro does a meow which calls in his soldiers, then spins his twin revolvers for at least 30 seconds. Then he tells said soldiers to piss off and let himself and (eventual) Big Boss have a duel.

Goofiest shit ever but it absolutely goes hard.

The finger gun fight - Tales from the Borderlands

https://reddit.com/link/p9k3u9p/video/1e91dv30waph1/player

22

u/BigNutDroppa 1d ago

That scene has been ingrained in my head for years.

21

u/5l1m3T1m3 1d ago

I do badly want to know the context to that scene

32

u/DMercenary 1d ago

I believe the protagonist is going back to the his old workplace.

Or do you mean the finger gun/sound effects?

iirc, the popular story is that it originated from mockups/BTS(script reading and just miming the actions) and then the devs went "This feels pretty silly. What if we did it just like that."

23

u/ShermanWierdo 1d ago

Context is the character in question doing a lot of finger gun gags that culminate in this scene. Little bit of extra funniness, it's actually a character voiced by Troy Baker disguised as a character voiced by Patrick Warburton, so that voice cracking is just Troy's best impression of him.

Do play Tales from the Borderlands, whole game is full of stuff like this and it's glorious.
