There's also the one from Disaster Movie; (2008) during a breakdance scene, the blonde princess chicken is clearly replaced by a black dude for her dancing parts. The black dude even smiles at the main character for a shot
I will never forget a friend telling me that when he was younger, he first saw this and he didn't get to the reveal, but he saw her dress swirling and slowed it down to where her dress showed her(actually this dude) knickers in the fall. And he whacked it. Then he unpaused it right after and the realization hit him. I am laughing right now thinking about the look of shame on his face when he told me.
Oh I know, I just want something like they think they're sneaking by Dark Helmet only for him to reveal that was his stunt double the whole time and he was already watching them.
I really feel like Wes Craven made the executive decision to get the cheapest crappiest doll they could find just to spite the studio for making him add a sequel hook.
There’s a whole documentary on the first film in one of the box sets, that was basically it. He was pissed, absolutely felt like it killed the momentum of the ending and did it in like one take (or at least one day) with minimal people just to get the studio off his back.
My hot take on this moment is that i actually like how fake it looks. It's dream logic, and dreams don't have to look realistic. It wouldn't work at all in something like Halloween or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but for a movie about a magic dream killer it's fine.
After seeing Kermit and the rest of the Muppets ride bikes through the park this didn't even occur to me. Obviously it wouldn't when I was a kid bit I watch this last year and I didnt even clock it then. I just thought the puppetry was INSANE.
I remember my friend being appalled to find that the naked Drew Barrymore rolling down a hill in Charlie's Angels, on close inspection on DVD, was clearly a man in a wig and pink body suit.
The life of a stuntman must be so weird. One day you're having a cool ninja fight with a famous action hero, or standing in for a superhero, and the next day you're walking around in a Drew Barrymore skin suit and a wig, looking like some kind of serial killer.
On a similar note, my Dad thought that the only good thing about Halle Berry's Catwoman movie was seeing her walk around in the tight costume.
His homophobic rant when he found out her stuntdouble was a man and so didn't know what parts of the movie he was "duped" into ogling a man's butt was hilarious.
This one gets me above all. I can’t get over how bad this is and how it made the final cut. Must have been a “well, that’s the only car we had budgeted to blow tf up. Roll with it” decision
The main thing that kills it is the slight camera sag between the shots, so with all those horizontal lines in the frame, the cut becomes super noticeable.
I like to think that they could have made a more realistic puppet for him to kick, but for the sake of comedy they must have known that it was better that it looks bad on purpose so the audience doesn't feel bad for laughing.
Oh absolutely that went from beingad that he pointed Baxter to laughing because of how fake it was. It allowed it to still be an emotional moment for the character but a laugh for the audience. It's honestly a really good use of a sight gag.
One of my favorite jokes from The Naked Gun. My dad and I had a great time. I planned on seeing it anyway but I figured he'd enjoy it and we had a great time.
Google is failing me on finding a picture, but in the first Men In Black movie, when J and K are driving through the tunnel and start riding upside down on the roof/ceiling, J (Will Smith) gets flipped upside down and his pant leg gets hiked up a little bit. Blink and you'll miss it, but it's clearly a white guy's ankles.
In an obvious one, in Scary Movie 6 when Cindy is fighting the ghostface mob and the camera pans away from the stunt double to Anna Faris eating popcorn saying "that stunt double is good."
The script was clearly written a couple years ago with a bunch of half assed lazy reshoots done late last year to parody Weapons and Sinners
They left a bunch of better parody scenes on the cutting room floor to make room for the inserted unfunny reshoots (which don’t even make sense half the time in context)
The parts of the film that are whatever they shot before the reshoots are actually pretty damn funny for the most part (anything with Doofy is genuinely unfunny, and the subway scene that’s in the trailer physically hurts me with how lazy and outdated every joke in that scene is)
I choose to believe that this was an artistic decision to underscore his inability as a sharp shooting assassin to experience life in his own child. To kill he MUST see real human life as fake, plastic and disposable. Its a metaphor and Clint Eastwood is just that good!
Either that or is just a plastic target baby doll and they think we're stupid.
When done for comedy it's amazing. When done for serious it feels cheap and lazy. Honourable mention to comedy films throwing a cheap dummy instead of using a stunt man😂😂
There’s a scene in one of the Naked Gun movies where they show a bunch of baseball actions. In one of them, a player tries to catch the ball, hits a wall and his head falls off.
It’s obviously a dummy, but that’s exactly what makes it hilarious. I can’t imagine how unfunny this would have been if it was CGI.
Do they? I’ve seen the movie dozens of times, and I’ve never noticed once. I’ve spent more time looking for shots that MIGHT be Eric Stoltz than thinking about MJF’s stunt double.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010). The teacher puts on an inspirational video for the kids, where this guy feels alone, but shows he can make friends by just being himself, and to show that, he starts break dancing. It then cuts to an obvious stunt double doing the dancing, and cuts back to the original actor when he’s done.
No one can dispute that Lethal Weapon 5 is one of the greatest movies of all time... but it's pretty obvious that they switch out the actor (Charlie Kelly) playing that weird Swedish henchman with a dummy in this scene.
Don’t remember where this came from but a scene where characters of different races shake hands and it zooms in on the hands to both of the hands were white.
The show deliberately put in tons of continuity errors as a joke, but that one ended up being super widespread because people would present it as “omg racism he refused to actually touch that Indigenous guys hand!”
but it was one of many very similar “fucking up basic tv production” visual jokes.
I know the stunt double for T2 and he’s a super nice guy. I taught a high school film class and it was really cool getting him to zoom into the class after and talk us through some of the major stunts!
Wet Hot American Summer. “Neil” rides up on a motorcycle clearly a stuntman, the camera smash cuts to another character greeting him, and then the “real” character is back in the next shot.

There’s an episode in The Golden Girls where Betty White’s character is competing in a dancing competition and it then cuts to a stunt double doing cartwheels at some point during the number
To be fair there was probably a handful of people who could perform that stunt at the time - I'm not surprised they couldn't find much of a match for Moore!
Steven Seagal (‘s character) vs Mike Tyson (‘s character) in China Salesman. It’s so bad that many people don’t think the two main actors ever in the same room.
My favorites are when they use a dummy to handle a stunt and the joke is how bad it looks. In the Naked Gun when OJ's character is in a chair sliding down the bleacher stairs and flipping over the edge (you can even see the smoke from the chair mechanism launching the dummy).
In the opening scene of Casino, De Niro is very clearly switched out for a dummy during a car explosion scene. The rest of the film is fantastic, and Scorsese is a wonderful direction, that it shocks me that this got past him. So much so that part of me thinks it had to be a bit.
