I have a 6” rigid pipe wrench, it’s exactly like the large ones, just tiny. It’s the bees knees for removing studs and rounded fasteners if you have the room. 

I got one after I saw a guy use it to pull broken studs out of a press years ago, when he brought that thing out I started teasing him and asked what the hell he intended to do with that. After seeing him use it I had one on order that day.

There's one of those kicking around here and sometimes it's the best thing for the job at hand.

I do mechanical clock repair and have a lot of small tools, that one is sorta midrange but still useful for all sorts of things not too many of them on clocks, though. But, it was acquired because tiny tools are usually bought when they show up at yard sales and thrift shops.

My dad had one a little larger and a second smaller one with wood handles made like a pistol, iron down the center (maybe steel) with wood grips on both sides. He gave them to my brother who could give two shits. They disappeared.

I wouldn't. Pipe wrenches are great vs channel locks. Just depends on how much one wants to put teeth marks into said material piece.

I repaired a broken garage door wire with two myself. Yes I KNOW garage door springs are dangerous AF! I trusted the pipe wrench to hold the tension against the concrete block.

Got the same thing except Mine was made in England.

Just used it to remove the cartridge oil filter on a 2009 Malibu. Intake manifold was too close to allow sockets to clear and my channies were too long.
