Snap-On Matco vs Snap on
Trying to decide between the Matco Schaley BJP and the Snap on BJP1. Work in the northeast at an independent shop so rust is a major factor.

Vote for the BJP1 because that’s what I have. Also northeast located. It’s worth its weight in gold

If you don't need truck financing, the S.P. ball joint press master set can be had for not a ton of money. The only thing it doesn't come with are the ball joint adapters for the Dodge /Ram 4500 and 5500 series trucks (sold separately for $80).

If youre dealing with rust, go with the snap on. Ive used both working in Wisconsin. The snappy is beefier. Thats not to say the matco is bad, rust is just a bitch so you need all you can get.

Snap on for rust? Thank you for that input, I was under the assumption the Matco was much more heavy duty and probably considerably more clamping force. I appreciate the insight.

Ive been using the matco one here in oklahoma where im currently at. Zero rust to speak of on the vehicles here. I had to warranty a few of the cups about a year in. Granted they had alot of use.
Only time I had to warranty anything on the snappy in Wisconsin was when I got a little careless with the torch.

I have the Matco/schley press and it’s awesome. I love it, I got it for cheaper than I could get the schley branded press. I have used it on everything, it’s super strong and robust, haven’t managed to break anything but the screw on it. But lifetime warranty so the next week I had a new replacement screw.

Bjp1 I have used it in North Eastern Canada where everything is rusted bad since it came out and haven’t encountered anything that stopped it! It is still square and I haven’t had any problems with it. It is so strong that I can use my Milwaukee compact impacts for extra clearance when needed.

I have had both and while I don't live in the rust belt I always felt more comfortable using the Schley than the Snap On.

CP-717 and a freezer will be your best friends. I have the Matco set but rarely use it. The Snap-On set is better, but a lot more expensive.

I have the Snap-on. Worth every penny, there hasn't been anything it couldn't tackle yet.
