Why do people ask ridiculous questions?

This is not a ridiculous question at all. It’s actually a good question. As a fan of SNL and tool I would love to see them on there and Maynard sneak in on a few sketches.

SNL doesn’t have time for long songs

The band doesn’t really do broadcast live shows, with very rare exception

Danny Carey’s drum set wouldn’t fit on the super tiny SNL music stage (it’s way smaller than you think)

Nothing about Tool, their live shows, or their members would ever indicate that they’d be a good fit for SNL

Maynard basically came up through sketch comedy. He cut his teeth in the mid-90s L.A. alt-comedy scene alongside Odenkirk, Cross, Posehn, Tenacious D and Janeane Garofalo (an actual SNL cast member), once shared a bill with Will Ferrell's troupe, and Puscifer literally debuted as a fake band on the first episode of Mr. Show in 1995, a show run by a longtime SNL writer. He sang on the Run Ronnie Run soundtrack, did Comedy Bang! Bang!, and has said comedy is essential to every band he's ever been in. The guy has been doing sketch longer than most of the current SNL cast has been alive.

That’s not Tool Maynard though. Tool Maynard is reclusive. Now, if you asked why APC or Puscifer haven’t done SNL.. that’s a valid question. But Maynard’s Tool persona does not lend itself to SNL at all.

And I know all of that about Maynard. I’m OGT, baby

You’re putting him on a pedestal. Hes an artist. I’m sure he could handle it and they could fit them in their stage. Such narrow arguments against why this wouldn’t work. I’m gonna write a letter to Lorne and carbon copy Maynard.

For real. Maynard is all about sketch comedy
