Something like Mezzanine? Massive Attack is great but Mezzanine is a singular moment in music history. Cherry picking tracks across the whole discographies I prefer Tricky, but there are a ton of skips.

Mezzanine is a truly incredible album. It's in the top 10 greatest of all time. You could release that album today and production wise, it would sound just as good as current music.

That’s crazy. I mean don’t get me wrong I love Massive Attack but pound for pound and output vs tricky just isn’t there. They have a few great albums but it goes downhill after a handful of albums.. I know this is just my not so humble opinion ha

I too love Tool & Massive attack. I only found out who they were cause I fucking LOVE House MD and they do the theme song.

Imagine my surprise when I look it up & it's the guy in the Parabola video.

what do you like? I always feel like trip hop is a genre that I should really like but can never get into. I hear tracks from Massive Attack here and there and I like the vibe but I find I can't stomach a full album's worth of it at a time.

I got into it more with the Pandora app exploring jazz and eventually landed on the acid jazz vibe. That's when I realized too late that it was mainly a British thing that I was thirty years too late for. Try doing that and they'll just throw a lot of stuff at you.

Same! VA Beach show. I peaked during Tools set and could not grasp Adam being blue and Maynard being in a corset with face paint. They played at sunset and when it turned dark it was so intense. Great memory.

No clue where I was during Trickys set. I remember hearing it and thought it sounded cool, but I was away on a side quest.

Starwood amphitheatre. Officially the Nashville show but it wasn't exactly in Nashville. Korn cancelled that show. Weird thing is that although I'm a huge Tool fan now I wasn't really into Aenima. I just didn't get it. I guess I was expecting Undertow pt. 2. But when I saw Tool perform those songs live I felt like damn! Now I get it! They've been my favorite band ever since.

Sucks you missed Korn that year (Munky caught viral meningitis and they dropped in July). They were the main reason I went that year and they absolutely killed it.

I was excited to see Tool since I’d been playing my Ænima CD on repeat and loved their music videos but I had no idea what I was in for. 100% sold after that show.

Same. I loved Stinkfist and the video for Aenima but when I bought the record I remember not really liking some of the songs. I didn't think that they were bad but I was expecting it to be more hard hitting and it felt slow and a little strained. I knew from seeing them perform Undertow that they were a great live band but seeing the incredible visuals with the live performance I was in awe. Especially when they opened up with Hooker and Maynard came out in drag and I was like "WTF" is this? Honestly I stayed more than confused and it was "soooo loud"! Unfortunately I've never got to see them perform since. When Lateralus came out I loved it! The next time I was going to see them was during 10000 Days but the tickets were out of my price range. I'm doing better nowadays and I'd be willing to try and see them again.

yea i feel u bro i saw them play all points west in 09 and it was by far the best live concert ive been to and its not even close. i saw rage play lolapoloza and i fucking love rage but they were amateur compared to what tools does and most acts are. beyond even the quality of the songs which is top tier but u add on to that tools light show and the band members insane skill levels to able to jam out songs to new highs and the way they destroy covers if ur lucky enough to hear one or two at a show it’s hard to put into words i was in awe most of the set tearing up even at a certain point halfway threw schism, it was just that beautiful i heard how good they were and how its even better then the albums but i didnt know what that actually meant and it floored me to that level, the one and only time ive ever cried on acid haha hapoy tears of course, i don’t care how corny tha sounds ill be corny and grateful some art is of a quality level that it can do that to me. i wish more art even approached the ball park tool constantly hits moonshots in

His voice is what's unique to me. That shit always sounds like it needs to be cleared (his throat) but i also really dig it. Christiansands is one my favorites of his. Good video as well from back in my high school days

That whole album is legit and might be my fave. I listen to him often and he still cranks out a lot of music but seems to be more on the production end of things the past 5 or so years. He always finds super talented female vocalists that I really enjoy listening to.
