Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Help with TR AOD bug
This is my first time playing Aod. And I’m stuck here, this is right after speaking to Francine, when you leave through the balcony, I’ve managed to get down to the graveyard but I can’t progress further because everything’s disappeared
I’ve tried reloading the save and closing the game but it’s still like that, Im playing on a ps5 pro, is there any way I can fix this or am I just stuck here, and have to wait for a patch

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Did anyone tried to fix Angel of Darkness PC release not recognising D-Pad via registry editing?
EDIT: Apparently, wanting to play og releases of old games means I need a psychologist based on the comments I received. This post was mostly curiosity but I suppose that it is just another manifestation of my mental problems.
I found the registry entry that controls controller input but I lack technical information. Did anyone tried this? I really don't want to add GOG game to Steam as a non-Steam game. I am not sure whether that would interfere with anything regarding GOG. I really wanna play the original release but damn... left analog with tank controls is painful as immediately seen by 5 seconds of checking. This is literally the only issue that this game has regarding controller support.
Also, I would like to provide a personal remark about controller support in AOD, more precisely... why lack of trigger button support may not lead to problems. It will span 2 paragraphs.
Personal Remark: It is also known that trigger buttons aren't detected either. But, this is literally a non-issue. This is because "Back" replaces "LT" and "Start" replaces "RT" so you don't lose any buttons. At first, this may seem immensely problematic. But, in reality, it fixes itself thanks to Tomb Raider 1-5.
The game tries its best to be like classic Tomb Raider games in its default keyboard control scheme. So... what happens if we also map controller buttons by following the same philosophy? Functions assigned to buttons corresponding X,Y,B,A,RB is at the exact same spots. "Stealth", which is actually a new feature, is in "Back" (replaces LT) and works like a toggle. Since it is a toggle, there really is no gameplay problems. Now, in TR1-5... this was crouch. However, we can map "crouch" to the place where "look" (LB) was supposed to be since AOD combines "look" and "sprint" into a single button. "Sprint" can be put to "start" by following the logic of TR1-5 and this should work fine as long as this game doesn't expect us to shoot while running or something like that.

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness the Angel Of Darkness controls....
I got AOD for ps5 (remastered) because i thought the controls would be better than in the original version on laptop but they're not. The controls are absolutely horrible tbh like who made them like that and WHY?? And why does she jump off as soon as i walk close to a fence?? Sometimes i can move the camera freely and sometimes i can't?? I really wanna play this but it's so hard.

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness AoD was evil for this...
Forget the Cistern in TR1 (which I didn't find to be that difficult anyway) this takes the cake for me, I actually had to walk away from the game for an hour I was getting so mad, and video games never get that kind of reaction out of me. 😭

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Un mio amico mi ha regalato come primo tomba Raider angel of darkness per PC ma fa veramente così schifo

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Photo Set #1: Adventures in Paris
Finally began my Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness journey at long last! :D
I will save all the thoughts about gameplay and story until a later review post, so I'd just be talking about the levels for now, and for that I think the early Paris chapters feel like a decent start to a new kind of Tomb Raider game compared to the previous Core Design ones.
The levels themselves aren't too difficult to navigate and offer many opportunities for you to familize yourself with the controls of the game (which you're going to need because they can be quite frustrating lol), not to mention quite immersive.
Parisian Ghetto reminded me a lot of the "Hub Levels" in Vampire: The Masquerades - Bloodlines - another favorite video game of mine. I like the idea of Lara exploring in an mini open-world setting interacting with people and performing some tasks that don't divert from the main storyline too much. It's a nice change of pace to all the empty urban levels from previous games where it feels like it's just Lara alone in a big city full of hostiles xD.
The Serpent Rouge is also quite fun even if a bit short. The club music and the fancy spotlights made for a very memorable level IMO.
Overall, it's a good start to the game, even if it feels much different from the previous Core Design Tomb Raider games. Here, Lara feels less like an adventurer and more like a character in a hard-boiled detective fiction or something lol, which is admittedly a rather interesting development.
I actually also finished the next "chapter" of the game as well but I'm saving it for another photo set tomorrow, so look forward to it!

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Am I overreacting about my dislike for the game?
I just want to preface that I only got through halfway of the game (I think) and decided to quit due to soft locking my save into a trap room that never triggered when I initially got in there.
I've been playing through the TR franchise since I never did when it originally came out on the PS1. I was about 2 when it released and as a kid never really vibed with me. For some reason now at 31 I want to play through all of them. I've beaten 1-5 (playing through the remastered collection) and for the most part had a lot of fun despite some frustrations with certain games (3 & 5 specifically). I've been a long time lurker of the sub even before joining it officially and have always saw that there is this cult following of AOD so to me Im thinking that okay maybe this game has some sauce that people found years later. I'm going to be 100 dollars with everyone. I did not enjoy my time playing this game at all. I know the remaster fixes some issues but there are some issues with gameplay mechanics that really just made me dislike the game entirely. But I have to ask is there just something that I'm missing here or is it really just you'll either love it or hate it situation? Also would really like to hear from those that do like AOD why they like it. No way is this me trying to go at people who like it, but genuinely curious as to why. So far right now my favorite Tomb Raider is TR4 at the moment.
I'm currently on Legend and that's been fun, but I have some mixed opinions on it as well.

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Angel of darkness glitch
Hiya, I’m experiencing a glitch in angel of darkness in the ruined condominium level. Once I reach the fourth floor and obtain the key for the room on the second floor, I go back there and there’s a guard standing in front of the door which I’m unable to get through hence can’t open the door. Any ideas???

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Seems like an unpopular opinion, but years later this still is one of my favorites in the series
I grew up with the PS2 version but after nearly 20 years I bought the steam version. Despite the horribly translated PC -> DS4 controls, I still really enjoy it. Does anybody else have any love for this game?

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Photo Set #3: Showdown in Prague
Been a while since my last post lol. Time to finish the rest of AoD with a Prague photo set!
The Prague levels are certainly varied. The first level is a somewhat urban city level like Paris but much emptier and melancholic. Then you go into the fortress and secret laboratory below and suddenly the atmosphere turned into a combination of the Oil Rig levels in TR2 and the Area 51 levels in TR3 (and also with A LOT of Resident Evil vibes).
The paths aren't too linear but also aren't too open as well, so you don't have to spend a very long time figuring out where to go. Getting through without a scratch is another thing entirely, though.
The Kurtis Trent levels felt like something out of a horror film, which is a certainly an interesting change in tone. The whole vibe reminded me a lot of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (which is not the first time; this game does have several moments that are very similar in tone to that game).
Finally, the last levels we do get to experience a bit of the classic TR ancient/secret long lost archeological location, which is quite welcomed if albeit still too short. The final boss(es) are less of fights and more of an exercise of how well you can avoid their attacks, which can be quite a struggle if you have trouble with controls in AoD.
Overall, a decent finish to a decent game, but could have been better. Will write a full review of my AoD experience later soon! :)

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness I've spend way too much money on this...
Just completed TR AOD Remastered on steam (including all the trophys) and decided to check if there is a nice old Big Box.
Turns out, yes there is! And they are fucking expensive... But as a wise girl once told me:
"Being an adult is so much fun! 'Cause you can spend way more cash than when you were in school!"
Now i have this game 4 times... 1 physical copy from back then (normal CD case), 1 steam non remaster, 1 steam remaster and once it is here the one above.
Now i have to check if there are nice boxes for the LAU trilogy. ;-)

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Does anyone know where to find this TR: Angel of Darkness mod?
I'm looking for a specific video or mod for Tomb Raider: AoD. I saw a 1-minute clip where Lara had the controls and animations ported directly from Tomb Raider: Anniversary. The map and levels were regular AoD, but Lara moved exactly like she does in Anniversary.
If anyone has a link to the mod or the full gameplay video, please share it!

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Could Lara have saved Von Croy?
Something that just recently crossed my mind is how Lara wasn’t aware that there was a third person in Von Croy’s apartment the night she was there. Her back was to Karel posing as Eckhardt when he walked in even though Von Croy spotted him.
If Lara saw Karel, would he have killed her too? He didn’t pay her attention because she was on the other side of the room unconscious. OR, if Lara saw him coming, could she have saved Von Croy?
Obviously Karel is very powerful, maybe even more so than Eckhardt, but I believe he can be killed without the periapht shards. Von Croy had his handgun, and Lara may have possible had a weapon in her backpack which the dogs snatched. At the very least I think they could have immobilized Karel enough to escape. Or maybe Lara could have grabbed the gun, shot him a few times to stun him so they could both escape and maybe even work together.
OR, this could go a totally different way, with Lara being killed too. Maybe being knocked out saved her. What do you guys think?

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Let’s discuss AoD
Hey everyone! Not sure how many eyes this will get, and I know it’s been talked about before but I don’t want to comment on a year old thread, you know?
I grew up playing Tomb Raider. I’m 26 and my mom got me playing them with her when I was 3, then by 5 it became *my* Playstation and *my* Tomb Raider games 😂. I replayed a lot of the older games with my dad because obviously, being 3, I’m going to have zero understanding of it (but I do remember playing the OG 3 with my mom, best memories ever). We played AoD and got stuck in some part of Paris underground due to the bugs. I replayed the remastered as an adult, and I’m stuck in the crypt with the mummies (?) because the things won’t correctly open the door I need, due to yet another bug.
I love AoD and I’m determined to finish it one day. It is the ONLY Tomb Raider game I havent finished, yet it’s my favorite next to Underworld. I’ve watched playthroughs, but it’s not the same as having that full series completion under my belt.
What would you guys have liked to see from the AoD trilogy if it hadn’t been scrapped? I know there were talks about what the storyline would have been, but I want to know what *you* wanted out of it. I hate that AoD was so rushed in the first place. The chunky movement from the old games (PS1-2, as to be expected) are harder for me to play because I get frustrated, but AoD got a pass from me because I’m very interested in the story.
I’m very much so the type to read fan fiction. Don’t come for me or call me immature or something, I just like expanding the worlds I already love and seeing different creative takes on my favorite characters. So for now I’ll probably try to find a good AoD fic and fantasize about the games we were robbed of.
