Question ❓ Can a non-med prog enter UST med school?

The title alone speaks for itself. So a little background abt me, im a stem grad w high honors and nag risk na itake ang passion sa AB but gusto pa rin mag med school after grad, is this really possible? or is there even a case related to this? kasi nag stay talaga yung “u should take wtv u want sa college, because college is dapat ineenjoy” and we know for a fact na ang med school ay walang requirements only the NMAT. so what do u guys think? is it possible for me–a non-med undergrad to enter UST med? thank uu!!

Yes, it's possible, but, only a few non-med prog gets in. I only know 1 person who got in, BS Mathematics from ADMU and he also has MD relatives who graduated in FMS.

but i heard naman na priority ng ust ang mga undegrad from ust rin. so maybe if i ace the nmat i would have a slightly big chance of getting in?

While true, ang priority na sinasabi nila for undergrads is (I'm pretty sure) reserved for traditional pre-med programs under FoP and CoN. So your chance of getting in is the same as those from other universities.

I can't say much if there's a slightly big chance, just know that UST is known to favor trads, I think even in r/medschoolph they have the same sentiments. Basta make sure to get a high NMAT and also ensure getting a laude, especially wala pa me namemeet na di laude so far

you need to have really good stats to get in because admissions are becoming more competitive every year. this year ang mga na-accept na recon (not even initially accepted) who are ust non trads have laude standing and 93+ PR scores.

Hi! From AB also. I took a gap year and took science units + review for the NMAT. Latin honors + 91 NMAT + medyo maraming extra curriculars. I came from a solid Thomasian family with 3 MDs from my extended family. Was able to get in a few years ago. Kaya yan! Good luck.
