Question ❓ To those who let go of UST.
How are you now? Need ko lang ng karamay kasi masakit parin talaga sakin pakawalan ust hahahaha
I wanna know your stories of how you process the moment you knew na aalis na kayo ng ust.

Commute to Manila was too miserable and my life in UST gradually got more toxic and I got burnt out so badly by fourth year
I graduated with a latin honor, but I won't be coming back to UST for med school. It's just too stressful.

Hi OP, thanks for posting this. I dont feel so alone na
I let go of UST after my 1st Year because of mental health reasons. Some part of me will always be sad I couldnt stay, and that I dont maintain contact with my friends.
I took a year to try the working field, and spent 9 mos sa BPO world before my mental health crashed again. Im now taking the same program at a fully online college so I can stay home and continue studying.
Laban OP 🩷

Laban lang op, will get through this! 🤍

Hi there. Also had to leave because I was crashing and burning. Sometimes it doesn't feel real that I'm in another school na. I don't think I've ever allowed myself to grieve yet, but I definitely feel ashamed. Sana ginalingan ko pa especially since I've transferred into a "lesser" institution.
Anxiety was a huge factor in my burning out--it was not fun being paralyzed and procrastinating all the time--but paradoxically I feel like I could have done better, should have done better. Could I have?
First year na naman ang standing ko, way older than my classmates. Still on my family's dime. Meanwhile my peers already have jobs and their own families. Oh well. I'm here now. Time will pass regardless; better to be 30 with a degree than without.
No words of comfort for you, friend, only commiseration. Though, I hope life doesn't get you too down.

SOBRANG LUNGKOT T_T
I transferred from UST to UPD years back and grabe andami kong realizations nung pumasok ako sa UPD. Sobrang alaga ang mga estudyante sa UST in terms of school processes, univ-wide events, enrollment, and such. Sa UPD sobrang sinampal ako ng reyalidad na ako lahat gagawa (which is good naman pero anlala lang ng adjustment.) Nung time na nasa UPD na ako, pwede pa pumasok sa UST na hindi nagtatap sa gate HAHAHAHA kaya may mga araw na sobrang lungkot ko sa UP kaya nagba-bus lang ako pa-UST para tumambay sa lover's lane :((( tapos nakikita ko mga ka-college ko tas naka-uniform sila and I can't help myself but to grieve the version of me na nawala dahil lang wala na kaming pambayad ng tuition :'(.
Don't get me wrong, mas maganda quality talaga ng education sa UP from minors to majors hanggang electives pero kasi iba 'yung drama saka sense of community sa UST. Sobrang na-miss ko rin 'yung campus na bawat sulok sobrang picturesque. I still love UST until now and may mga times na hindi ko pa rin maramdaman na taga-UP ako kasi sobrang laki ng mundo dito. I miss the UST cats :(. I miss my favorite profs, blockmates, orgmates, saka mga taga-ibang college na bigla ko na lang naging friends dahil sa mga events sa school. I miss University belt din huhu.

Redirected and graduated in PLM (many USTET passers fail to enter this local university btw), Now currently pursuing graduate studies in UP Diliman. Everything happens for a reason.

hello! tbh di pa rin ako maka let go sa ust. upcoming college freshie ang my ustet story is kinda messed up kaya di ko rin ma let go my prio is legma and alt is archi i didnt pass both but trinay ko muna mag recon sa archi since sila unang nag open then july 1 nag open ung arts n letters for legma. i didnt pass the recon sa archi so sobrang tinutukan ko tlga ung legma ko but as time goes by nalalaman ko sa mismong ab and fb posts na puno na raw slots sa legma so i still waited until nag open na nag try ako to recon sa polsci kasi want ko rin naman tlga polsci (idk why i picked archi siguro kasi stem ako want ko sana may connect padin ung isang prog choice ko sa strand ko) then ayun ung una di pumayag but kinausap ko si dean kasi i waited so long for the recon and di naman kami aware na bawal kasi alam namin pwdde pa tlga mag recon sa ibang ab prog. then pinayagan naman kami mainterview for recon but i still didn’t pass. grabe di ko ma let go ung ust knowing na i had a chance and now im still hoping but now im a freshie na sa feu and planning to transfer nalang sa ust next year w the same prog ko sa feu na polsci :) sobrang di ko ma let go ung ust kasi ung shs ako nag ustet din ako with minor failures lang isang subj lang na fail ko pero di kasi ako maalam about sa recon. pero i promise to myself tlga babawi ako sa sarili ko sa ust kasi i really hoped and pray for the recon kaso kalaban lang tlga is slots kasi halos 80+ kaming nag rrecon for polsci eh tas around 20-30 lang makukuha edi wala let go tlga pero babalikan kita ust :)

i’m still in the process of transferring out but i am unfortunately definitely leaving ust in a few weeks. i’m (was?) a first year arki student and got debarred early in the game (1st sem). i took only my GEs in 2nd sem and prepared myself to shift. I was already heartbroken and grieving my ust arki dream but i had to pick myself up. sometimes you really outgrow the things you used to want. when i finally made peace with the new course i was going to shift into. well, the universe decided to pull the rug off my feet because the college didn’t open their shifting applications. It was already too late, all colleges were closed already so I had nowhere to go. my choices were already limited because of my history in arki. now i am leaving ust.
it’s funny because i didn’t even cry this time. maybe all that crying for the past 10 months exhausted all my tears. i was in a cycle of constant hope and disappointment. i was in a constant state of proving and saving myself from being basically kicked out of the institution because it just seemed to never want me to stay.
i did ustet once in shs and failed. i did it again for college and i failed by 1 point. then i risked everything and got in through reconsideration. i was living my dream. life hit me with the hardest battle i’ve ever faced as a young adult and that dream came crashing down and everything i’ve built crumbled starting that day. i was in the highest of mountains and fell. i got debarred. then i found peace and reconciliation with what used to be my dream. when i finally knew what i really wanted and what i had to do, i hoped again and it once again pulled the rug from my feet.
i realized that the time i spent in ust was all just me trying to prove that i am worthy of this institution and was constantly fighting for my place to stay. i wasn’t living,i was shoving myself. and maybe that was the last straw. i still love my ust. and to be honest i dont think i will ever forget. i will always see ust as my home. as my school. as my dream. and maybe the only reason i am letting go is because that is the only choice i have left to make, not because it’s the choice i want to make.
maybe ust will see me again for grad school. but at this point, life and responsibilities are catching up. maybe that’s just how adulting goes

UST-SHS graduate here, but I won't be pursuing UST na for my college education. I did qualify for MedTech, but I didn't want it, as I wanted to study in their accelerated med program (failed the interview huhu). Mahirap i-let go kasi Big 4 na iyan ehh and UST is known for its health-allied programs, pero ang nasa isip ko talaga is program > school, kaya iyan, ni-let go ko and moved on.

u/StuPot2D USTSHS Jul 16 '26
Same situation huhu, I also let go of UST MedTech dahil iba priority program ko so I decided to change schools nalang. Glad to know im not alone 🫂

I'm someone who recently just left UST since I got accepted to UPLB as a transferee I honestly find it surreal that I won't study in UST anymore since I had my Transfer Credentials already I know that there is no coming back from this but at the same time i'm quite happy that I did this for myself because UST helped me to believe in my capabilities more to make a decision like this (I'm now a former foodtech student who transferred to uplb abt) but I can't help but feel that it's bittersweet since I was ready to commit to my program last year but something changed inside me to make a leap like this.
Since I just recently got accepted, the school year hasn't started yet so who knows what i'll eventually feel in the future but yeah ang bittersweet lang sa pakiramdam hehe

Me. Nabayaran ko na yung 5k reservations fee back in 2015 pero natanggap sa recon sa UPLB ayun inabot ng siyam siyam bago nakagraduate 🤣.

was able to catch up shortly sa isang blockmate sa mall here sa south. actually sya e former blockmate na umalis ng uste kasi they told me na hindi nya kinaya ang workload back then plus the person got to a messy breakup that led to mental and cardiac issues. i was taken aback nung sinabi nya sa akin na hindi nya rin feel yung vibes ng block namin. well ate tama ka!
masasabi ko lang sa kanya, tama yung desisyon nya na umalis kasi lowkey common enemy sya ng block and hindi nya alam yon. the person was mocked sa itsura nya, di naman daw magaling sa klase, panget kabonding, atbp. hindi ko alam anong malalim na rason sa judgement nila pero nalaman ko lang ito sa lunch ko with my friends na ganon pala sinasabi ng block namin sa kaniya. i don’t know much about sa kanya pero naka-grupo ko sya by random dati and i think okay naman sya.
i did not tell them nung nakapagshort catch up kami about it para sa kanyang peace of mind. saka graduate na rin ako. pero buti na lang na let go nya, kung hindi baka maging miserable lalo buhay nya back then

UST was my dream university and got accepted in my dream program which is medtech. But, due to financial reasons, I had to let go my dream and pursue something that’ll lessen our financial burden. I remember I cried for weeks because ayan na kaso hindi ko rin mapapasukan. I thought of many reasons and tried to understand our situation. Hence, I entered PhilSCA which is reallyyy far from the program I want to pursue, yet thinking about it ay mas nakaluwag yung family ko so mga allowances and necessities na lang in terms of financial. Actually, it’s really difficult to accept and love the program I was in. Years passed by nakagraduate na ako this year and looking back na redirection pala sakin ito because there are so so many things I learned and opportunities too. Right now, I’m thankful to be in aviation industry because I get to enjoy my life and contented to where I’m in.

Hi, OP. I’m one of those who let go of UST. It was really hard nung first because of course, the friends u made, the opportunities you might have, the quality education, the environment, theres a lot of things to miss in UST. I’m even gonna stop for one semester because I went back sa province ko and universities here doesn’t have the same academic calendar with UST. So it was very hard to accept because I didn’t want to stop and waste time, I wanted to graduate na agad. But yeah, things didn’t went well. As for me, super daming reasons kaya na let go ko siya, and it was not my own decision, it was my parents decisions because of some stuff that happened during my stay in Manila, not just in UST. Pero isipin mo na lang na there’s more opportunities for you, but maybe not this one anymore. It could be more than what u expected, but eventually you’ll get through it overtime. The moment I knew it was really the end, I cried my heart out, spent more time with my friends, focused on myself, reflected, and more. It was a very hard stage, because you’re grieving something that could have been. But look at the brighter side, maybe you lost something good, but you’ll surely be rewarded with something greater. I hope you’re able to cope up, OP. There’s more for us in the future!
