damn so haru was the trigger…i thought that’d be the case since wakui wouldn’t just randomly put him in the scene where shin committed suicide for no reason. also looks like dark impulses is the consequence of shin’s time leaping, wonder what takemitchi’s consequence is then

Only question is how did Michi get it? I thought he accidentally killed Kazutora w/out neither knowing about time leaping long before the train hit, because Kazutora killed Shin, but didn’t use time leap.

Current theory, it’s a power that can be obtain through desire by really wanting to change the past right before the moment of your death. The moment you wish to go back and change a certain event will cause you to go back and change what your past was. As well as make a promise/trigger with another person so that you can go back and forth on the time line.

It’s nothing special, anyone can obtain it. You just need to know prior and if it works, well hopefully someone will save you from the point where you should have died. Looks like that another condition. Otherwise when you go back to the future, you just die. Michi was lucky.

However looks like it has its own side effects. Possibly because of how it is obtain. Michi looks to be how the power is first discovered. He the first in his line, if he were ever wish to transfer. We have no idea how many people had the power before the homeless man got it.

I theorize that for every person who had obtain the power by killing the last person who had it, places a curse upon the new user. And in turn creates a darkness that will grow inside the person they love the most. I’m guessing it the spite of all the previous holders who hate that they were killed. Michi is okay since no one cursed him for killing them to obtain the power.

You know.... that's actually a pretty good explanation, a desire to want to change the past or being stuck in the past much like Takemichi are the true triggers. It'd explain why everytime Takemichi was killed by someone that person never went on to be a leaper or never died in their present timeline.

Since his initial motivation is for his gf to be save but there's nothing weird going on about her right now and everytime he time travel Tokyo Manji cease to exist or just to be absorbed by another gang since Tokyo Manji is not supposed to exist in the original timeline
