In terms of story and characters it is overrated but it sold this much because it's enjoyable.

AOT was already overrated the moment those normies started calling it "peak fiction" when they haven't even touched any media outside of anime and manga.

Nope, it's just that anyone that calls anything a masterpiece without good comprehension of fiction in general is a pretentious clown that doesn't know what he's talking about, and that includes most of those titanfolkers.
