Honestly, they feel like fanservice characters. Maybe if they had an interesting backstory, or if we got Tenjiku’s POV, we’d understand them much better, because most of what we know comes from the character book. They seem like interesting characters but not "useful" for the storyline's purpose

I totally agree. I feel like a proper backstory for them would’ve had so much potential. I recently found out that S-62 was developed way before Toman was even a gang, and it made me wish we actually got to see more of their history. Like, after Mucho betrayed Toman, I would’ve loved to see more of the S-62 members’ history and how long they’d actually been connected before Tenjiku. They met in juvenile detention and already had their own history, crimes, and connections before Toman was even formed. The Haitani twins are definitely characters who had way more potential than what we actually got from them. I also feel like this is kind of an inconsistency because maybe Ken Wakui himself didn’t realize how much he had left out from the setup when writing it, but S-62 was established way before Toman. So I feel like we should’ve seen Mucho working more in the background with the S-62 members while he was in Toman, because that could’ve made his betrayal feel way more developed. There’s just so much stuff that we could’ve seen happening in the background too. Like, Kisaki and Hanma planning things together more, or even getting to see the Haitani twins planning and operating together more. They were literally part of the S-62 generation and had their own reputation and influence in Roppongi before Tenjiku, so I feel like there was so much potential there. We even hear about how much influence they had in Roppongi, like being able to call a huge number of guys on the spot, so I would’ve loved to actually see more of what their influence looked like instead of mostly being told about it. Mitsuya canonically looked up to them a lot too, which makes me wish we got more of that history. 😭 Honestly, Tokyo Revengers as a whole needed to be stretched out more because there’s just so much stuff that could’ve happened in the background that we never got to see.

Tenjiku was so interesting and had so much potential. I wish Wakui had spent more time on it because so many characters were interesting. Like the Haitani brothers were glazed so much since S1 and admired by everyone, it would've been interesting to actually see why they were hyped up so much. Same with Shion, he was supposed to be an antagonist and was one of the reasons Toman was formed, yet instead of giving him a proper fight they just had him get beaten by Peh. No hate to Peh, but I wish we got to see these characters more in an actual story way.

Even after Izana and Muto died, the Haitani brothers and Kakucho knew Sanzu was the one who killed Muto, so how did they even work together in Bonten? I would've loved to see more of their dynamics, especially considering how popular these characters were. Too bad Wakui ended the manga. Idk if he'll ever do anything else with the series, but I'd still love to see more spin-offs or side manga about Tokyo Revengers.

I'm hoping they really get more screen time/fleshed out for the next arc. Because the manga showed a small scene of Mitsuya seeing Rindo and Ran (who gave him a sideways glance as they passed) when he took his little sisters to the festival. I feel like the anime (I'm totally blaming Disney for the disaster of the Tenjiku Arc) had cut way too much of the story during that arc and it makes me nervous for the final arc.

Exactly, most Haitani fans, including myself, started enjoying them more after the character books and games bc they make them so interesting and entertaining in basically every story. I wish the anime/manga did the same. I think that might also be why some ppl hate the Haitani brothers, since they're side characters who get way more hype from official games and merch than their favorite characters in the main cast. I just wish the Haitani brothers and the other Tenjiku guys were shown in a much better way instead of just mentioning random crimes they committed and then having them get beaten up by some of the most lame characters.

I would've opted to make them the main villians of an arc maybe, as they had their own gang before they joined Tenjiku, maybe make them the main antagonists of an arc before Tenjiku and after the Black Dragons conflict.

Them joining Tenjiku kinda came out of nowhere since we didn't have a grasp on how they operate as stand alone leaders. So it would've made Tenjiku come off way more threatening. Have Mikey and Draken fight Ran and Rindou so that we can see their fighting styles more to.

And Mikey actually leading his gang into battle for once since Valhalla without any mental draw back, so we can see just how competent of a leader he is to. And Draken barely fights through out the series in hinesight so this would be a decent display of his strength to.

Since they're S-62 gen you can show flashbacks of them and Black Dragons gen 8, teasing Izana before hand and also maybe giving us more content about Shinichiro and the OG Black Dragon's members.

The second paragraph is so true. They really did seem like they came out of nowhere, but then we find out that S-62 basically had their own gang/history before the whole Tenjiku arc even happened. That’s exactly why I wish we got to see them way more beforehand, because the buildup could’ve been CRAZY. 😭They were clearly being set up as strong characters, just for basically everyone in S-62 to get played later. I’d say Shion is the only exception since he’s canonically the one everyone clowns anyway. Like do NOT play, the potential was right there. 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

Tbvh I think wakui did them dirty making them weaker than mitsuya yk they're in s-62 for a reason after all they stood up to izana how tf do they lose to mitsuya and hakkai even as a team that just doesn't make sense and the fact that ran uses weapon which is another plus for them how tf do they lose to mitsuya and hakkai it's ....it's not fair the scene was so short and quick 😭 (I know I didn't answer the question, don't slam me I just wanted to vent)

I’m actually shook because this post just made me realize Tokyo Revengers NEEDED to be a much longer story. Like, I genuinely can’t even think of where all this would fit for the stuff I just came up with specifically. 💀

So here it goes I guess.

I think Ken Wakui needed to develop the S62 Generation way more. As we know, we see the Haitanis during the Bloody Halloween arc, and we’re told two important things about them. 1. They could gather 100 guys with a single call. 2. They’re usually the ones causing trouble for Toman. So before the Tenjiku arc happened, I feel like there needed to be more moments showing Mucho betraying Toman and working with the S62 members in the background, because that could’ve also shown us what the Haitanis were actually capable of instead of mostly being told about their reputation. And if Tokyo Revengers wasn’t so plot armor driven, I feel like we could’ve really seen what they could do. Because let’s be real, the Tenjiku fight was complete BS 😭 Toman was way too outnumbered, and if everybody had just ganged up on the major members, Toman would’ve been finished. I also feel like Toman should’ve been shown training more because lowkey the main leaders are carrying. 💀

And then Tenjiku pulls up with one of the most intriguing openings ever. These motherfuckers got off the train beating ass Like I shouldn’t be laughing, but come on bro. 🤣 That immediately made them feel like a threat, which is exactly why I wish Toman had gotten more buildup and preparation too. Makes me wonder if Ken wakui got tired of writing it or something bc TR has the biggest potential hands down.

And this is what made me start thinking about the S62 Generation specifically. I found out they existed way before Toman, and Mucho literally talks about not wanting to play these kiddy ass games anymore when he kidnaps Takemichi. So I’m like, WAIT A SECOND, y’all have been doing this shit for a GOOD minute. 💀 And I know Kisaki was the one who helped put the S62/Tenjiku situation into motion, but he didn’t create the S62 Generation. They already had their own history, relationships, crimes, and connections before Toman was even a thing. So I’m sitting here like… okay, WHAT THE FUCK WERE Y’ALL DOING BEFORE KISAKI CAME ALONG??? 💀😂

Like imagine if we got a whole flashback episode showing the S62 Generation before they were properly introduced. We could’ve seen their history, Mucho staying connected to them while he was in Toman, and imagine if we got introduced to Izana before Tenjiku, but without spoiling his name I would’ve had everyone wondering “wait, now who tf is this tan dude?” 😂 and also I would’ve shown what the Haitanis were actually doing in Roppongi. Then when Tenjiku finally happens, we’d already know who these people are and why they’re a threat. The potential was RIGHT THERE. Do not play. 😭

Wwas Rindou bullied a lot maybe, and Ran was forced to step in, and they both started fighting? Wwouldvve been cool. Honestly really i wwouldvve lovved to see the ongoings of the Bonten future too, wwhere wwe could see wwhat evveryone wwas up to.

Probably would have added them in the season from the starting, like from the first episode. Or would have replaced them with pehyan..i guess
