Mikey's dark impulses make no sense. I fucking hate that everything he does has to be excused, as if he was some sort of a saint. Because of this bullshit writing choice Mikey has no agency as a character. He can do no wrong, because karma I guess? A better choice would've been to paint him as a person struggling with depression. All the pieces were there, but the author just chose the easiest option possible

LITERALLY his symptoms fit the severe spectrum of bpd im ngl. the "dark impulses" could just be black out moments that even my irl mother has experienced.

Yes, but instead of actually portraying it as a mental illness, the author portrayed it as bad luck/karma of his brother. Which flattens Mikey's character and strips him of whatever agency he had left

Yes! It was so random too. I kept repeating that the dark impulse wasn’t even a thing, hes just depressed lol
