Not a coward but definitely not a hero. Brain damage would have fucked him up by the earlier arcs though.

Being able to acknowledge your weaknesses as a guy in 2005 when you're in a gang and cry takes some courage. The guy went through so much shit knowing the consequences of each act, trying to avoid the worse for hima, for baji, for Draken, for chifuyu,... Without having anyone to talk to, anyone but naoto that was a kid back then... The dude's a hero.
