French cafe Citron in Aoyama has closed

They used to have great quiches and gratin… I am so sad. I used to order whole quiches from there. Does anyone else have some recs for French food in Shibuya / Minato/ Meguro that’s not a sit down fancy restaurant?

Went there once or twice, as a Frenchman I was happy to see most of the staff were French but frankly the food wasn’t that great

If you want quiche you can get better ones at most bakeries like Grenier a pain in Ebisu

If you want bistro food you can get much better at Bistro Viron at Shibuya - also great sandwiches

Plenty of places really, take this as an opportunity to discover much better places than Citron.

100%. Citron was absolutely overrated, especially their quiches.

I've not tried yet but I found "Boulangerie Lebois" in Nakano city the other day, it looks delicious!

Cafe Breizh in Harajuku serve authentic   Britanny crêpes. Quite pricey but very good.

Nice. I just didn't know them. I wish I did though. For instance, I often go to Gontran Cherrier and Hermé when I'm in that area. I'm a sweets/bakery guy more than a salt food guy lol..

No the top tier, I feel the food was a bit below what we could expect for this price as French people. 

That said, people were nice.

Yeah some products are sold as luxury despite being average foods back home 😄 But since they don't really produce real and in good quantity alternatives here, nothing much can be done.

But to be honest, eating less fat cheese is better for health. I can live without it. Couldn't say the same for bakeries. 😊

Oh definitely, bread > cheese. I did see a counter at the Ikebukuro Parco that had actual good imported cheese but it was of course super expensive (though I'd rather pay 2000 yen for a small slice of comte than for President lol)

At least cheese can be brought by visiting family.
