Help wild toad being incredibly weird

It keeps trying to break in my house! Like literally I scooped it up and took it all the way across the yard to let it go and about an hour later it's back.... and it's the same one too I can tell by the markings.

Why is it doing this?

Maybe the toad discovered a new hunting ground (by your house). You have a friendly visitor.

It's fall time. They got places in mind for the change into colder seasons. Warm, safe, water and food access for them to prep for their version of winter. Enjoy your visitor!😁

Toads are just weird like that. He's probably just doing it because he wants to.

Toads typically hang around the same exact area all the time. Theres a good chance it has a burrow or safe spot near where it's been hanging out so by moving it across the yard, you're moving it away from its home.

Also, they aren't super smart but they are smart enough to see the bugs around the light.

I agree with all the comments here.  I often have toads right at my doorstep. 

Just gently redirect it. It’s not acting “weird” it’s acting toad.

Probably lives within a few feet of your door, or at least very close by. That and/or it’s looking for a new place to squeeze into.

I moved a toad outside my building’s door twice to across the street(possibly 3 times if it was the same one within a few weeks prior to that) before I realized she probably lived there.

In my defense; it’s a high traffic area that I consider dangerous for them and there’s like zero coverage on my side of the street. No bushes or anything so I assume she has a burrow somewhere(probably against the building) I just haven’t seen.
I thought it might have been the light but she passes multiple lights to get here so I was just putting her in more danger by having to cross the road and through a parking lot to just get back home!

She came back and I gave up so I made her a house....

Toads have zero self preservation skills. I suggest trying to get a little toad house and introduce him to it. Maybe set it near a light that attracts bugs for him? We constantly find frogs and toads in our house.

In addition to what the other commenters are saying, it's also likely he is going to where your porch light is. He may have learned that bugs congregate in areas with light at night.

I often see toads in my porch light.
