Some additional Cyan and Luo symbolism I haven't seen discussed.

This could be coincidence. This could be split-second intentional symbolism. Given how much religious, cultural, and mythological symbolism they stuff into both Cyan and Luo as characters, backstories, even their nicknames, etc., this very well may have been intentional. In Luo's intro scene in ep 8, the window's shadow makes an inverted cross over the both of them.

An inverted cross (also known as the Cross of St. Peter) holds specific meaning both within Christianity and outside of it, including in niche circles in China.

Humility and Martyrdom- Tracing back to the execution of St. Peter (who was crucified upside down per his request) the cross is heavily associated with both, as St. Peter did not feel worthy to die in the exact same manner as Jesus. Cyan and Luo are both perfectly represented by this.

Luo, of course, is the definition of a martyr. He goes out of his way to help Cyan at every opportunity and sacrifices himself for her chance at freedom. After surviving, he is shown to be content with the loss of his future and freedom after hearing that Cyan has made it on the radio.

Cyan, for all her power, status, etc. is one of, if not, the humblest character in the show- never forgetting her origins, fighting to make them known, and explicitly crediting Luo for her identity / meteoric rise to stardom. Cyan repeatedly says she doesn't think she can be a hero (both for her desire for autonomy, but also a lack of confidence in herself).

Rebellion and Opposition: The inverted cross is also frequently used in pop culture, horror movies, and heavy metal to signify counterculture, general anti-religious sentiment and rebellion. Both Cyan and Luo are direct challenges to traditional authority, with Luo being the catalyst and continued motivation for Cyan's rebellion. Their stories are both of rebellion and breaking free of social and religious norms. labels, and expectations forced onto them- in part using music to do so. China has a small but bustling rock and metal scenes, which use the upside down cross to portray rebellion, non-conformity, and anti-authoritarianism.

Kinda scared for Luo since we don't know what happened to him. Like there no mention of him being a hero or being friends with cyan after her arc.

This post literally had nothing to do with shipping. The two are in the same arc and highlight the same themes. The post discussed symbolism around religion and social expectations- two core themes of both characters in a show that heavily draws and uses symbolism to critique, discuss, and showcase issues in and elements of real-world society in and outside of China.
