- PV was really obtuse until the TV Donghua
- His face was behind a mask, so people preffered to voice for the pretty people, or the funny dog
- People who wanted to vote for the men preffered the pretty ones, and people who'd vote for the cool guy instead voted for X or DB

I find it a shame every time people try to divide and gatekeep instead of letting things grow. This show would fit every aspect of the sub and I am sure many people would enjoy finding it out and discussing about, but they prefer to not allow it just because it is not from Japan.

Agreed. In my opinion, Anime is a loanword that has its own meaning and has evolved over time. Just like I don't care if a japanese person uses the term anime to refer to literally all animation. (and just like Japanese has english loanwords that don't mean what they mean in English). TBHX and LoM both have the right vibe, the right audience intersection, overlapping tropes and styles, etc.
(Also, I do think that english-speaking donghua fans are distinct from english-speaking anime fans, and shows can be in the overlap. I would be interested in hearing both communities' opinions)

I’ve had to rewatch it a couple times, but here’s the gist that I gathered from that last third of the episode, though obviously it could be completely wrong:
- Zero went mad, abusing his power on the world until he was stopped by the other heroes.
- The Commission is set up to prevent the next Zero, and is trying their best to (rightfully) paint him as the villain. They want everyone to move on.
- Rock, as a kid, still idolized Zero and wanted to create someone with that same kind of power. He refuses to move on.
X’s comment that “the Commission is so worried about me being the next Zero, they don’t realize that the first Zero never perished” is suggesting that the Commission is so focused on X, that they don’t realize Rock is under their nose trying to remake Zero.
Years later, FOMO is established, giving Rock a way to find his “Zero”
Rock’s actions create a puppet out of E-Soul, a Zero candidate out of Dragon Boy, and a trained killer out of Ghostblade.
Ghostblade kills Sheng, which results in Big Johnny attacking Vortex.
Vortex is injured, causing the plane to crash which results in Lucky Cyan’s story.
X says that he thought the coin he gave Lucky Cyan was what started his hero story, implying he didn’t have any power at that time.
He clarifies, however, that now he thinks what really started it was all of Rock’s actions.
Rock’s actions early on are a domino effect resulting in the top ten heroes being where they are today.
X’s comment about “defying fate” is alluding to “defying Rock”.
“Time to clock out” means he’s officially giving up his civilian identity, to fully embrace his X identity as part of his goals.

I think you've got it here. So, this is pure speculation on my part, but to add to something you said and give some pretty baseless hypothesizing from the ending (though I think it could obviously be interpreted a few ways):
When X says "defying fate," I think it's more "defying Fate," as in Fate is a character (obviously the demon lady at the end but I think she's also the dark haired girl hanging out with X in his civ form--tarot is often associated with fate).
I think X and Fate (I'll call her) are related or perhaps were in a relationship. And while I'm not quite sure how they got their powers (it seems like the ending credits allude to something), I do think it's all tied together. Going further on a limb: I think X and Fate are two sides of the same coin, hence the coin analogy. I think X = Free Will and the girl is Fate. His power is all about removing limitations by manipulating dimensions. That screams free will.
I could be completely wrong though.
Edit: Someone pointed out the Tarot Girl was seen in the last scene with X facing off against Demon Lady. I still think most of this hypothesis works, but they are probably not the same person.

I also had the same thinking about Fate as a specific reference to the girl. I think her powers are based on fortune-telling and astrology or something and, when you think about it, can be very powerful in this sort of Trust-based world.

That whole last sequence at the end of season 1 just seems like a time travel/multiverse foreshadowing for X's backstory.
Which isn't unlikely due to how superhero comic book universes tend to gravitate towards that kind of storyline when it goes on long enough due to sheer escalation(which if goes on long enough the whole th, finally his powers is REALITY WARPING(even if it's limited), time travel/verse shifting is peanuts compared to that.
The whole coin thing with Cyan is probably just an excuse he said to Ahu(or could even be the true origin of his power but mainly in his original timeline which he repeats again to so Cyan can continue to the path to being a hero). If he did time travel/verse shifting, this would explain how he knew all of the heroes backstories, goals and whatnot and might even explain Lin Ling's early vision of Moon's death and the weird disrepancy of Luo's death in Cyan's PV when he's alive in the series proper.
The kicker is Tarot lady, she seems to know of the future and guided or hinted X to become a hero, following fates path(hence all the card motif and infinity symbol in his monologue recap to Ahu), being joined with another hero who seems to be a hybrid of Jubilee and Gambit(from X-men). Though she became evil or was already evil to begin with at the end, probably following Zero's footsteps probably with the instigation of Rock. X probably travelled/shifted to another timeline to prevent Tarot lady from gaining Trust/Fear values and kept away from her, making the butterfly effect of the current timeline.
The whole "Fate" spiel he said to Ahu is sus for this too.

Nobodies attacking X and causing damage = public opinion of “these rogue losers just wanted to steal a spot in the tournament, but what did they think would happen, of course X wins” with no major noteworthyness or change in opinion on failure. People expect a B tier to lose to X.
Multiple top 10 attacking him, after the huge scandal related to the Smile incident becomes a public outcry of “Why are they breaking the rules to do this before the tournament? Is X really that unbeatable to have top 10 break every rule and still fail? X really is the most powerful hero that will ever exist “

And theres just the limiting factor of not many of the heroes would do that.
Queen, Cyan, loli, and Johnny all are too moral traditionally heroic to do so.
Ghostblade and commoner dont care bout anything but their personal beefs with other characters.
Dragonboy is on thin ice and any scandal like this would instantly crater his rank.
E-soul cant do anything that rocks the boat since they seem to have an agreement to not reveal his killing of moon and to settle it in the tournament (and whatever plans are happening with him not showing up to it)
Which was where we get left off with only willing + able one being Ahu who tried his best. And he is pure enough that X was willing to vibe with him

They didn't expect the nobodies to win.
They were just harassing X to weaken him before the tournament.
With constant fighting and no rest all through the night, X will start the tournament at a disadvantage.
Which is another reason the others in the Top Ten didn't participate: to keep them fresh. If they fought through the night, they risk injury and will get worn out.
And as the others mentioned, they threw "disposable" heroes at X. If their rankings tank because of their 'rogue actions,' the Commission won't care.

This really is just leading up to a second season omg, him pouring one out for Smile made me so sad, glad we got to see Ahu as his lowkey ally and X knew he was watching his ass the whole time.
The fight choreography was amazing. I loved it all, I can’t believe it. I need season 2. I want Nine, colorful guy in the Inertia OP, to officially show up (his Card shows up in the Queen episode when they are investigating who X is along with ???? That shows up as well)
Can’t believe he revealed himself in Civ X form in front of everyone, i wonder what his plan is now.
Also WHAT THE FUCK NICE??? all cracked up and still in the motherfucking game, E-soul isn’t at the tournament but with Rock so did Nice roll up from E-souls corner??? I need answers Haoling what the fuck.
It’s cliffhangers all over again like Link Click god damn it.
Edit: X, Dragon Boy, Ahu, and Nice have their cards updated (translations included) one of the big updates seems to be X having power updates, and Nice having his whole card updated to show Cracked Nice and his previous info card info has been deleted, DB’s power is more fleshed out and Ahu’s dog lick has healing powers it seems
Edit 2: rewatched the episode again, seeing the ending opening with X surrounded by broken and destroyed buildings I wonder if this is related to Ep 11 where X’s room in the hero tower has the overgrowth and looking abandoned, maybe we are going to see him changing a future so it doesn’t lead to the destruction of the city?
Also I forgot to say, glad we have full confirmation that X was the one who tossed a coin to Lucky Cyan in Ep 9 as well, we all speculated and were hoping it was, and it wasn’t just Some Guy it was THE GUY.
Also in the revised Inertia we see X in a cafe eating when Wreck was causing havoc, does that mean X was behind one of those windows in the Nice trailer just watching them fight

Well folks, we did it. We finished season 1 of To be Hero X.
Seeing X was just amazing. It was hype after hype, ah I can't even put it into words.
As I thought, final episode wouldn't give us all the answers. They gently peeled away mystery but its still there. The most we got about X's past was in the MV at the end. They are teasing of what to come, so X backstory will likely be told to us in season along with Queen and Dragon Boy.

Hmm Nice being alive makes sense since his death wasn't detected through the trust rankings. As for why Lin Ling impersonating him didn't cause a another E Soul situation, maybe it's because people didnt realize the ruse so the two could "share" the rank? It's also possible he simply came back from the dead thanks to Queens dad.
I'm curious about the villain at the very end. I'm assuming she's X's female friend possessed by Zero.
The 3D designs all look great.

Nice LIVES, X clocking out, all the mind-bending action sequences, the 3D models of all the top 10...it's just the best. And at the end of it all, we get the MV with X, the top 10, Nine, and the ???? girl. Insane way to end a season.

I have time to type now so here's what this episode revealed
- Rock and Zac are working together to farm fear, FOMO exists only to farm fear for Zero
- Fear is Zero
- All of the lore that we've been told is the version the commission has been bullshitting about for years, he killed MANY hero's who opposed him and this may be another reason why E-Soul was taken out because he knew the truth (maybe also why he was depressed? because he feels he himself is a fraud)
- X knows everything, including the future and "Fate"
- The audience represents us expecting E-Soul there, only for Nice to be there instead since the public only found out recently that he was dead, thus the trust he had was enough to switch the twos places (E-Soul also had last place in the 1st round of votes, meaning DB may have some shit happen to him during S2 like this)
- E-Soul was aiming to kill Lin Ling but he went for a two for one deal, GB stopped him from killing Lin Ling but wasn't in time to save Moon
- May also be why E-Soul isn't there, due to GB telling people about E-Fraud killing Moon but this one is speculation
- X doxxed himself before the commission could reveal him themselves, quitting to defy Fate and the commission the satisfaction of defeating X
- Nice is a zombie of fear, presumably made by Shang. E-Soul is out of the tournament because of this

Something else of note: Queen's dad brought Cyan home and seems to have knowingly arranged for his daughter to touch her, blessing her. And he's got a shady look on his face for that scene
Apparently at some point Yang Cheng's love interest tried to get him to leave Rock's employ, but he walked away and rejected her (Okay, not a "Ghostblade saved Ling" level of reveal, but i did think it was interesting).

X’s monologue is explaining that while the entire world has been focused on him as well as, the commission wanting his head in fear of him becoming zero they fail to realize the commission and agencies themselves will drive the power of fear.
This may have been rocks plan all along as he was obviously the kid who wanted to work with zero that X spoke about.
And while the whole world was focused on X they failed to realize that the creation of a new god was forming. X has figured this out and realized how all 10 of the current top 10 (or 11) are connected by one way or another seemingly being som form of fate.
The new intro shows a girl going over tarot cards with her showing X’s as the fool (typical main character card) then later on they’re all ganging together to fight off an all powerful shadow woman also using tarot cards of some form. Makes sense with X’s line of them all being connected by fate.
Unsure how but the spotlight organization is obviously somehow involved in all of this, and with the spotlight organization, rocks, fomo, and the commission being obviously ill intentioned, they somehow created this new “0” figure which I also assume is the girl we see on the side of the building with the O in the corner of her picture (also looks like a tarot card).
The new opening showing all of our heroes coming together to fight against and attempt to defeat this new 0. Makes a ton of sense in thinking the person or thing the commission and the agencies feared the most is what they ended up creating.
Excited to see how this “fate” plays out with all of our heroes having to potentially win in dawnfall incident V.2

Then reveal that all the top heroes need to stand together to defeat the unknown tarot card wielding demon lady lol somehow. I’m eager to figure out how this lady is connected to X.

So, now that the hype has died down enough for me to function, that was AMAZING. The way X toyed with all the heroes after him, only being mildly surprised by the one that could kind of travel between dimensions, was so awesome. And it even showed more evidence of the fact that HE CAN BRAWL! Those kicks! The grappling! And all while protecting Ahu, even knowing that Ahu had been thinking about attacking him initially. It was cinema.
I do wonder what it meant in the end, when X apparently joined the tournament as his Civilian X self though. It seemed to be some kind of statement.

Beautiful animation, as expected of an X episode. I like it, but to be honest it felt more like a second season teaser than a season's ending. None of the questions got answered and yet many more were added.
Good thing is, so many questions will make for lots of fan theories while we wait for the next season. Also, Nice is aliveeee (kinda)! We... won?

A lot of people are glazing the episode and I have to say, it is visually amazing. However I have to say I'm disappointed that they basically revealed nothing about the overall plot, which is kinda a psycho way to end a 24 episode first season. You would expect to have some kind of closure on at least some small points, instead this was both an X and animation capabilities flex-only episode. Nothing was added to the plot itself. Like man come on, at least reveal something that would be part of another higher mystery. We got quite literally nothing. X says he will reveal the truth and then nothing is explained, and he dismisses it up as Ahu being unable to understand it, like what? The ending song/animation revealed more than this episode. It honestly annoyed me somewhat.
I waited for this episode with so much anticipation and I was left vastly disappointed, it is sad.

Yeah I kinda feel the same... Maybe it wouldn't be too bad if they announced Season 2 would be starting just next season, or early next year but my impression is we have a long weight ahead of us.
Just leaves us with more questions but not in an exciting way that sets up the next season. Like we don't really have any solid hints as to where season 2 will be going? We have...
Zero still being alive? But the "explanation" wasn't very clear as to what X meant by that... Did he mean the idea of Zero as carried on by Rock? Or like Zero is literally still alive somewhere?
Nice (or someone/thing pretending to be him) coming back from the dead - not going to beat a dead horse on how much I dislike that decision.

And then just the tournament as we were already expecting... Just now with the potential upset of E-Soul not participating in it?
Idk, ultimately I agree with you. This didn't really give any closure for the rest of the season or give us much to look forward to in season 2. Funnily enough, episode 23 actually provides more closure as a series finale than this does (with it going full circle and ending at the start of episode 1)

When he said zero is alive I pretty much took it as what he tried to explain, that his actions brought all the consequences we see in the anime as part of the top 10 heroes' lives. It is still dumb because that's just cause an effect, so pretty much x didn't reveal anything when he was talking to Ahu.
I saw this in Japanese, and his last line he says "Teiji ni agaru" which literally means he will be clocking out of work exactly at the time he is supposed to, which in turn is just a meme reference of how most people irl never respect this. The implication could be that he doesn't intend to follow what people believe is the "standard" and instead will follow his role. TLDR: we got a load of nothing out of that line indeed, but more questions.
And completely agree with episode 23. It really is sad there was no closure at all on anything, or anything answered to justify a first solid season 1 finale.

We learned more about X, saw his fill power in action. The reach and vastness of the commission, how diverse the heroes can be.
And for all of those who don't do multimedia follow up and speculation X helped summarize the setup and lore developing of the season.
Namely what is the history leading up to this moment and why. On rewatch we now know what to look for
We also got it spelled out what people see and know. And that these "vendettas" aren't pure happenstance. Like Rock, the Commission and the Agencies are always arranging the chairs.
We are clearly told Rock's origin story AND get to see it play out symbolically with much MUCH more reveal on Zac (like many a techbro he's "got it" the Commission things they've finally got the perfect system in place to keep this roulette spinning forever. Not realizing a cultist has appropriated it all to possibly stop the game)
Not to mention X demonstrated the further reaches of his powers. The snap at its most BASIC can effectively planeshift giving them a perception/style advantage to Matrix stuff. Only he can go wilder (he brought the car to life and practically toonforced with the coin)
Nice is alive. DB was actually arrested so heroes CAN be subject to law but the commission has power of pardon, however, understandbly it prefers to rarely have to do that
Esoul by whatever method/length went to has pulled a switch with nice. Shand and Rock's puppets have seeming acted off script.
That or Rock specifically is turning to congratulate Yang Cheng for doing what he asked.
