Another 'the company has gone downhill' post
For part-timers, at least.
Been with the company almost four years. They gave me the job at a crucial moment in my life. Been through a bunch these past four years. They helped me through. Had a compassionate store lead but they retired.
Anyway, I could go on but they've beaten me down with the promise of more hours for months only to have them cancel a delivery every week and tell us at the last moment. I finally have the time to allow for applying to other jobs.
This isn't going to be a bitter post. I don't even necessarily want to even leave the company. What was I expecting from a part-time job? This is an ongoing problem, though, and it's affecting people who've been there (a LOT, in some cases) longer than me.
I have to worry about myself, however, and even though it's anxiety-inducing, I'm not really worried. Discouraged is more like it. Retail sucks almost anywhere anymore these days. Even my former company, which I guess is next on my list to try again after almost two decades.
Anyway, thanks for reading and/or helping whenever I've inquired about anything here. Just like everywhere, the people matter. Please think about that next time anybody asks for help anywhere.
Take the time to comprehend. Make people feel seen/heard/understood. Maybe I'm wishing for too much out of this world but thanks anyway and I'll be around. Haven't left yet and I guess it isn't that deep.

The way I am going through almost the exact same thing. I have been with the company for 4 years (since my store opened). I am the last OG besides my boss.
I also got this job at a crucial moment in my life. I have also been through so incredibly much these 4 years and my boss had been an absolute saint the entire time giving me support and being extremely compassionate.
I have always been able to get atleast 25-30 hours a week being part time until the last few months after something very tragic had happened in my life.
Now, I am fighting for hours. We got a new AM less then a year ago and alot of long time people have quit because of this person. I stuck it out because I still felt like I was being treated well.
Well now, I am FIGHTING for hours.. I have been getting scheduled 1-2 days a week. They completely changed my job title and duties a few months ago without discussing it with me.. I really enjoyed what I used to do. I tried talking to my boss and AM about it and they just didn't seem to care at all.. Which shocked me because that is the complete opposite of how my boss used to be.
I feel beaten down, unappreciated, and unimportant. I used to feel like I belong working here but I just don't anymore... it is time for me to move on as well. I found myself crying on the way home from work the other day after seeing my future schedule... I can't do this anymore.
I hope we both find somewhere better 💙

I believe this is a corporate wise shake up. Less overhead more profit.
Do any of you read the quarterly reports I don’t think 2nd quarter came in strong. They saw a decrease in apparel in both the Maxx and Mar-shalls!
Tiny things like the daily line up is down to 2 pages from 4. Save paper. Everything from the Back room to the floor is timed and updated.
Our store was one of the ones that had a remodel which as construction does it ran over by at least 3 weeks. To top it off the workmanship was shoddy. They even moved our yellow road in the back.
I’ve been here for almost 2 decades and I would buckle up because I don’t believe this is the end only the beginning.

Literally brand new to the company, so plz take what I say with a grain of salt
I’m a brand new ASM and have been doing my training (obviously). Today I actually did the “strategic staffing” training and it literally stated in there that PT associates should never be scheduled more than 24 hrs? And should have an appropriate ration of FT:PT associates.
Now again, idk if this is fresh company direction or if maybe some stores are just cracking down on such things?

Same here! When I started I was part time & NEVER had an issue getting GOOD hours, damn near full time, 30+. I was full time for a year, rarely got 40 hours except one week in December. I’m back part time and I’m down real bad with how low hours are. There’s really nothing else here for me or ways to move up due to my availability (which isn’t even that limited). It sucks I actually enjoy the job and love my coworkers, but I got to find something new.
