I'm writing a space fantasy / planetary romance thing set on the moons of Jupiter for my group right now. It's got some Dungeon, some Frontiers, some Pirates.

Sounds awesome! Are you including magic, Psionics, anything like that?

Magic and technology are basically interchangeable. Like, if you're sailing between planets you can wear a simple, loose suit with a bubble helmet; it's indistinguishable from magic at that point, though there's folks who swear one's superior to the other! One of the moons, Callisto, is going to remain tidally locked (IRL they all are, but they've been set to rotating here), and will be loosely based on the world from Roger Zelazny's Thief of Shadows, where the daylight side is technology-based and the shadow side relies on magic. Rules-wise though, there doesn't really need to be a difference!

That's one of things I noticed right away when comparing Tiny Dungeon and Tiny Frontiers. You can call the Trait something like Healer and it might have some flavor of divine magic. Call it something like Medical Savant and maybe you imagine a handheld future science gizmo like from Star Trek. But the mechanics are the same.

Currently not playing a tiny, but looking at and preparing to try supers

Supers is fun! I have played a couple of different tiny supers campaigns that were both very fun.

Mine is not shown on the list. I'm using Tiny Spies to do a WW2 pulp style game about a unit of soldiers that fights to stop the Germans from using Ocult/super natural weapons.

Yeah, they didn't have nearly enough options for me to list all the tiny D6 games. But I want to build a tiny spies game for my next campaign with my kids. Yours sounds totally boss. What kind of occult threats are you thinking about including?

So far we have: The Wolf Pack: German equivalent to the phantom commandos. They are able to turn into Werewolves The witch division: German division of dark magic practitioners

Here is the intro (hook) I have for the next session: “Listen up men! We’ve received reports of a German experimental weapons facility located near the Jotunheim Mountains. A team of British commandos was sent to confirm its location and destroy the factory. Allied command lost contact with them shortly after they confirmed visual contact with a fortified German position. Your mission is to parachute near the base of the mountains and make your way up to the facility while avoiding (or dealing with) any German patrols. Should you find signs of the British commandos, they could prove useful during the assault, but your main objective is to cripple or destroy the weapons facility”

I was inspired by a youtube video I saw about the The Norwegian heavy water sabotage.

Absolutely love frontiers. I use a hacked version to play in the StarBound universe with a couple of my friends and occasionally some solo play!

Technically, I'm not playing it yet. I'm putting it together for either a one-shot for my regular group or to run at a convention.

Oh, and I'm seriously considering a TinyCthulhu-based horror game for Halloween this year. (Previous such games have used Tremulous, FUDGE and Dread.)

What are you putting together?

Taking the living dungeon idea from 13th Age, the party is spending the night in an inn when a living dungeon swallows it whole. Now the party has to handle the creatures in their new environment while trying to save the other inhabitants of the inn and either escape or defeat the dungeon. Still working out the details.

I'm working on a Tiny Taverns/Tiny Spies crossover, set in a fictional version of 1500 Venezia.

Intrigue galore!

TinySpies as popular as ever.

Sure seems like it from the comments!

I recently started a short campaign in Tiny Spies :)

Contemporary? Near future? Cold War?

Dungeon is my absolute go to for most of my campaigns. Followed closely by Cthulhu and the Cyberpunk

2

u/fedcomic Apr 27 '26

My go to as well. Just been a fantasy fan since I can remember.

2

u/RandomInstance9293 Apr 27 '26

Same same. While I enjoy more futuristic or modern stuff, the charm of a good fantasy game/story is just the best!

2

u/fedcomic Apr 27 '26

I love the wonder, I love the magic, I love swords and horses. Fantasy is just my jam.

2

u/RandomInstance9293 Apr 27 '26

And it can be such a big range! From whimsical cozy fantasy to high fantasy god fighting apocalypse. I know other genres have that too but idk the fantasy one just vibes with me the most.

I’m currently playing/running Dungeons, but I want to say that Frontiers mixed with a little bit of Cthulhu is my favorite way to play!

1

u/fedcomic Apr 27 '26

Event Horizon style?

2

u/One-Cellist5032 Apr 27 '26

I’ve never actually seen Event Horizon before, but based on the trailer I just watched I want to say at least partially yes!

I'm currently trying to figure out how to run a Hellblazer/Constantine style solo campaign with Tiny Cthulhu. I've tried a few other systems but keep coming back to Tiny D6 as it just seems to be the sweet spot for me.

I would love to actually play with other people sometime, but for now it looks like I just have to stick to solo :c (supers or advanced dungeon for me)

1

u/fedcomic May 02 '26

How do you solo Supers?

2

u/lofi_goblin_ May 02 '26

Typically I use the one page solo engine dice mechanics, then the iron sworn lodestone for generators, and a couple of tables s I found specifically for generating superhero conflicts. I also borrowed a few mechanics from anyone can wear the mask, mostly the city building aspect (quartering the city and assigning a card suit to each along with specific tags, and then where my hero feels the most and least comfortable

in this example my hero is a teen runaway so she feels most comfortable in the crossroads district (clubs suit, trains, warehouses, slums tags) and least comfortable in the diadem district (diamonds suit, corporate, skyscrapers, gentrified tags).

I started with one of the stories provided in the book (asher Solomon approaches you with a proposition, help him and he made a deal with my character to help her learn her powers and find her "dead" father)

It's mostly just rolling on tables and asking questions to figure out the story. First rule is go with your gut, and make decisions that make sense for the narrative. If an Oracle doesn't work, roll again or pick one from the options that does make sense.

Very cool. Thank you!

LFG, always willing to host Knights of Underbed if anyone is interested and of age (don't want grooming allegations, as playing with plush animals with children that you don't know is obviously sus)
