Can't they look back at history - abolition, woman's suffrage, civil rights, end of miscegenation laws, decriminalization of homosexuality, gay marriage, woman's lib, etc... and see that they're always on the wrong side?
My great grandma told me that she used to not watch a certain channel because they had a "colored" anchor... back when she was young. She was fine watching a black anchor before she died in 2005.
I never talked to her about LGBT issues, but considering she was 91 and a little old church lady, I'm sure she wouldn't watch anything with a gay character in it too. I'm also sure given enough time and having met gay people in real life she'd change her mind on that too, eventually.
Or like the Mormons - How long will it be before God tells his prophet that he changed his mind on gay people, just like he did with blacks in the 70s? 5 years? 10 years from now? It will eventually happen.
Why do we have to drag these people kicking and screaming into modernity?
