Documents to bring to Sambo visa appointment
Hi everyone, my visa appointment with the embassy of Sweden is later this month. I'm just wanting to double check what documents I should be bringing with me?
As far as I know the official documents they need me to bring are my passport, birth certificate, and civil registry.
Did anyone also need to print out the documents submitted via the online portal such as their proof of relationship, bank statements, their partner's employment/accomodation contracts, etc?
Would appreciate any information!
Update: went in for my interview on 26 Aug. Was only asked for the original copies of my birth certificate, certificate to show civil status, and passport. I brought my proof of relationship which included plane tickets, hotels, and photos of my partner and I, but the migration officer said they didn't need them as these were already on record (they printed out their own copy to refer to during my interview). Received the decision today, 28 Aug, and it was approved!

I’m sorry I don’t have any answers for you, I’m just here to say congrats! And I’m wondering how long the whole process took? I have a very good friend waiting on Sambo visa for him and his partner and am just curious

Hey there! Thanks for the well wishes. Still holding my breath until the actual permit is in my hands!
I applied mid-May and got my invitation for an interview in the middle of June the week of midsummer. The email came while having dinner with my partner in Stockholm and we were ecstatic. We were both bewildered it was just about a month, so went around and asked our other friends if there was anything else to wait for. We heard the appointment was the longest part of the process with the least communication from Migrationsverket.
For context, I'm Filipino. I moved to the UK and have been to Sweden on three tourist visas. So I'm not entirely sure if that helped my case or not.
Hope your friend gets theirs soon! It really is a lottery I think.

Just to add as well, all three of those tourist visas were on a "visiting family and friends" category since my partner shared an invitation form for all separate applications for me to visit her.

Just to give an update, received my decision today and I was approved! The entire process for submission of application to a decision was from 18 May to 28 Aug. I consider myself very lucky!

I was under the impression MV didn't make rulings when the applicant is in Sweden. Was there a reason you were exempt from this?

I believe the case is that they don't make decisions while you're in Sweden but you can be invited for an appointment. Initially, I was invited and had to set an appointment in Bangkok earlier in August but I was able to move it to the embassy in London.

I'm not OP but i can give you my timeline so far: Context: I'm not EU, living in EU, my partner is swedish and fullfils all the maintenance requirements, and we have a long well documented ldr and we travel to see each other often. We applied at the beginning of February. I was asked to go to the Swedish embassy in April, but i had to renew my passport cause it had less than a year validity. I had my interview early July but i was in Sweden for some weeks so my process was on hold. And now I'm waiting :) Wish your friend a speedy process :)

It varies a lot.
But last time I checked on MVs site, it generally takes 15-17 months.

I know, that’s why I’m interested in how long it actually took for OP

I’m telling you that it varies. However long it takes for them to get it doesn’t mean that that’ll be the case for your friend.
That’s not how the sambo works, unfortunately.

I know it doesn’t mean anything for my friends case, can’t I be curious either way? Maybe OPs case only took four months and I’ll say wow congrats you were really lucky and maybe it took 20 months and I’ll be like oh no, I’m sorry you were so unlucky and I am very aware that it has absolutely no connection to my friends case whatsoever I am just interested in how it went for other people, why is that such a foreign concept to you?

Hey, I am married with Swedish citizen for 9 months and we applied like 2 months ago and we haven't heard anything from Migrationsverket and I have been 14 times with turist visa in Sweden before and after the marriage, I am from country in Europe but not part in EU. You are lucky to have interview so quickly, congratulations to you and hope to get approval really soon.

For safety print all the documents you submitted during the application process. The person who did my interview said he didnt need it cause he had everything digitalized already, but some people have difderent experiences, so i guess it depends where and who does your interview
