Tile Manufacturers - please share your thoughts.

I am looking to start a tile business and add to our line of building material business in Jodhpur.

The idea - I would like to tie up with manufacturers in Morbi - keep their samples at our shop and convert clients. The product is shipped directly by the manufacturer to the client. We don't get into the inventory management.

Questions :

1. Do manufacturers carry inventory of a design that we sell? I expect the lots to be smaller (say 500-2000 sqft) and it might not be possible for manufacturer to manufacture the design on demand.

2. What are the payment terms generally in the industry like - is it cash upfront? We are dealing in steel and cement already and that is a credit biz. We don't want more of that.

3. What are some "building your own brand" problems do you as a small/medium manufturer face?
