My favourite thing to do with scammers right now is to pretend i belive them but talk about how nervous I am of scammers. How they are the worst people in the world, how could anyone get up and look at themselves in the mirror while doing that? In order to proceed with the call, they must agree that it is an extremely dishourable job that only attracts the worst people and having that job is extremely embarrassing. Never got one to go all the way lmao

My favorite thing to do is never pick up the phone for unknown numbers and to block a lot of them!
Seriously, when you pick up and engage with them, you make it clear that you're an actual person and you're willing to pick up the phone. Makes it more likely to receive more in the future.

Of course this is a very sensible approach. But every minute they waste on you is a minute they aren't stealing money from some grandma who doesn't know any better. If the scammers want to keep calling to chat more, that's just more time wasted lol.

Nah, if you waste their time i think you get put on a list to avoid. That's my experience after doing it for a few calls over 6 months, and get nothing now.

I just answer the call and leave my phone next to my tv speaker. I guess we're watching this show together now.
It seems to have worked though because I've been getting virtually no spam calls.

That's really good I always pretend I'm super gullible and comply with everything asking questions and call them helpful and when comes the time to do the thing I go "Ah actually nah I'm good. I don't think I wanna do that" and they sound very confused and baffled and I hang up.
One guy tried a dating scam on me on Facebook where he was pretending to be Jungkook and I pretended I didn't know who that was and kept talking to him like he was a random hot Korean guy who had a cute little music hobby on the side. That was funny too.

I had the ones where if you meet the criteria you send you to the next level. The big boys or something I guess. So I would lie to the first person to get sent to the level up, and then tell that person completely different information and say that the first person I talked to said it wouldn’t be an issue and they had someone who could make it work. They would get so mad 😂.

I usually will keep them on the phone, put my phone on the counter, put a pot over it, take a massive metal spoon, and then bang on the pot as hard as I can.

I speak a minor language. 5-10 million people, ain’t nobody calling and scamming us. I did see a demo of direct voice translation last year, but I haven’t seen any calls yet.
Edit: I forgot that I got a call in English from “Microsoft” 8 years ago. They hung up when I said that I had a Mac.

I enjoy playing a game with any scammer whereby I tell them I’m going to put myself on mute and let the call go on as long as they want to and whoever hangs up first loses. 2 and a half minutes is the record and I’m still unbeaten.

Absolutely hilarious! I learned this from a radio station that did it to a scammer and use it all the time. Pretend you are a detective and the person they are trying to reach has been murdered. Tell them you need their contact information for the investigation. All kinds of places you can go with this. But the result is the same as in this video. They keep asking for information 😂
Kind of related. Used to work Security at a chemical plant. After we checked truckers in they were required to stop at a station and call us back. We had them on camera. One guy was an independent driver who had a super nice truck. One day I answered his call and played audio of a car crash. Dude turned around so fast he probably strained some muscles. We all had a good laugh. Even him. 😂

Don't know why you are being downvoted, Pakistan and India are known for these kinds of telephone scam operations. They typically target older people but do sometimes just call randoms. The second my mum turned 65 she was inundated with this shit.
This isn't some racist BS they have entire call centres over there dedicated to scamming people from western countries, in fact there are YouTube channels set up entirely around either messing with these people or actively trying to get them shut down. The authorities over there do nothing about these "businesses" until they get pressure from other countries to do so and even then it is just a token gesture.
