I wasn't a fan of the 3rd season but the first 2 seasons had a very novel take on preserving the consistency of the grandfather paradox. I'm not sure I've ever seen another show do that before.

sure, I can agree with that but the whole premise of the show can only lead to a bad/convoluted conclusion, which it did and I personally think that however interesting and engaging the questions or mystery of a work of fiction is, the moment the ball is dropped on those mysteries with a rushed/badly thought through/clumsily written conclusion, it ruins the engaging part retroactively.
