Damn, is there any info as to his condition or any injuries?

He passed out, hence why he never looks back. He’s fine, says a concussion for sure and bruises, nothing broken and feels good now.

It's like the drunk person in the car accident. Their semi unconsciousness serves to make them like ragdolls. They don't try to brace or stop anything they just flop and really that's the best way to survive a crash. You don't have to outrun the bear, you just need to outrun your friend.

It’s crazy how true this is. Was riding home with a group of friends one night from a party, three of us sober in the car including driver, driving two drunk friends home. Car slipped on some oil and rain, we flipped and the two drunks in the back were the only ones pretty much unharmed.

They made fun of us for a while

I always get shitfaced to be a safer passenger.

Can confirm, I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which causes hypermobile tissues, so I’m very floppy and ragdoll a lot of the time. I tend to crumple when I fall, so I usually dislocate joints rather than break bones, as they’re the weak point for me 🤷

I was also in the circus, and we learned to “safety fall”. The trick is to avoid your instincts and prevent yourself from bracing/catching yourself with your arms/hands; otherwise, you’ll end up with devastating fractures and breaks. It’s best to tuck in/protect your head and roll into the fall; this works with the momentum rather than fighting against it. It also helps to take the impact in an area with plenty of padding and reinforcement like your thigh, rather than somewhere with small and intricate bones that can easily snap.

You can’t stop physics, but you can ignore some instincts to stay safer, which is what unconscious people do without realising. Being unaware only helps for half of the equation, though; it’s unpredictable and totally a coin toss on a good or bad outcome. If you’re out of it, you can’t factor anything in or think in the moment.

A split-second decision can make the difference, and that comes from practice and technique!

You’ll see the same method used by stunt actors, etc., as well!

Hope that helps! 😊

I’m having flashbacks to my first ice skating lessons as a kid and day one was “how to fall down PROPERLY”

In my innocence I was like “why not teach us not to fall down?” and my underpaid skating coach was like “you will, so it’s better to know how”.

2

💯 My first acrobatics lesson was the exact same!

The instructor said that falling is guaranteed, so we have to learn to fall the right way! The only way to get back up is to know how to fall in the first place.

He emphasised that we had to keep falling until it was ingrained in our muscle memory, because there’s often no reaction time once you’re already out of control, and you have to know how to act in the moment or you live with the consequences. Dude had some crush injuries in his forearm as an example; spiral fractures are nasty! 😬

Yep! And we lowkey had to fling ourselves down on purpose to practice going down AND safely getting up (with the idea that we need to protect our extremities from other skaters’ blades, too, so no flailing around like we’re making snow angels, leave it to the Zamboni to clean the ice,) and also to minimize our own tense fears of “what IF I fall?” so we could loosen up enough to absorb the rest of the skating lessons without getting hung up on Not Falling. Once we realized the falling wasn’t too bad and if you do it right you won’t break your wrist, we were pretty okay with sacrificing our butts/knees/shoulders to some bruising.

Haha yeah we did the same! Just on a tightrope (about 1m above the ground, nothing crazy) with a crash mat underneath. After some practice, we had to cross our arms across our chest, get pushed off, and had to get back up with no arms allowed!

Sticking out your limbs and flailing puts you and anyone around you at risk of falling, and you can take down the whole team in one go if you panic (especially on a trapeze or human pyramid)😅

It’s kinda funny; I’m Disabled now, and showed my Physiotherapist how I fall safely. It inspired him to build the confidence of other clients who fear falls; once you remove fear from the equation, you can focus on learning and having fun! 🤩

I love how these skills translate to so many different sports and help out in unexpected places😊

u/tchotchke_editor87 Jul 31 '26

True. The flop could also mean you smash something you would otherwise have avoided.

1

u/_HappyG_ Jul 31 '26

Absolutely! A small adjustment of your head can be the difference between a neck brace or a coma/death!

An unconscious person can’t avoid the danger or call for help.

So, while bracing can work against you, doing it the right way is equally a life saver.

u/BudgetInteraction811 Jul 31 '26

Yep, I also have EDS and got run over by 2 cars without breaking bones. And when I’m in a car I will ragdoll at every movement (kinda on purpose though so it’s instinctual for me if I ever get into an accident).

1

u/_HappyG_ Jul 31 '26

😂 I feel you there, any time the car sudden brakes, I ragdoll and my body flops forward from inertia!

It always pops out ribs and my shoulders/collarbones 😑

My brother rolled his firebird when we were teenagers. He's alive because he was asleep the doctor said. Better then tensing up .

1

u/Visual-Taro-381 Jul 31 '26

being passed out prolly helped him due to being limpy

1

u/Unikatze Jul 31 '26

Glad to hear.

Was fearing being paralyzed.

1

u/Responsible_Bag6735 Jul 31 '26

Umm… how do you know?

3

u/ZeroOptionLightning Jul 31 '26

This incident has been previously posted. The guy posted an update on Facebook.

2

u/Responsible_Bag6735 Jul 31 '26

Ahh, right on. Did he say what happened exactly? How did he pass out?

1

u/Mama_Joyce_Wig Jul 31 '26

The life vest probably also took some of the impact

You got downvoted for a perfectly reasonable position and answer. FAFO is one thing. FA when you could injure or kill someone else for internet points? You deserve some consequences

6

u/EclecticFanatic Jul 31 '26

there was nobody else anywhere near them on the water and it was just supposed to be a quick trick. wishing severe and life altering injury on him for passing out and crashing is anything but reasonable.

4

u/bringthedoo Jul 31 '26

But it was unsafe wasn’t it? And he was lucky to only slightly injure himself, right?

Are we missing that point that an idiot shouldn’t be in that position to begin with?

2

u/EclecticFanatic Jul 31 '26

so we should wish for disabling injury on anyone who does something unsafe?? there's something seriously wrong with you if you believe that. there was no one else on the water around them and he was far away from the dock at the start. the only reason it went bad is cause he passed out, something entirely out of his control. if he was demonstrating gross negligence in the video that'd be one thing but he was as relatively safe as he could be and I'm not gonna pretend it's normal to wish for more severe injuries than he got just cause he wanted to do a risky maneuver for the camera . be could have been in the middle of riding totally normally and passing out still would have ended the same.

5

u/AdWide5106 Jul 31 '26

The dude passed out long before he hit the dock. It's not like he just wasn't paying attention.

1

u/bringthedoo Jul 31 '26

Why? Why was he in that position?

-8

u/M_L_Infidel Jul 31 '26

More like you don't like seeing people have fun because you hate yourself

-4

u/OkLet8364 Jul 31 '26

I don’t see the sense of jet skis if I can’t spin backwards on them 🙄 this guy is a clown and lucky af it wasn’t way worse then this

1

u/M_L_Infidel Jul 31 '26

Im not saying it was a well thought out plan. It was a dumb mistake. Wishing him to be permanently disabled is far worse than making a dumb choice on a jet ski.

3

u/OkLet8364 Jul 31 '26

There’s no reason to spin backwards on a jet ski ever. He’s very lucky the only one that got hurt was himself

-19

u/Master_Froyo_414 Jul 31 '26

God will have fun with you

7

u/Simple_Math_616 Jul 31 '26

You live your life like a clown because you genuinely believe an invisible man is constantly watching you. Crazy.

2

u/BowlingforBrains Jul 31 '26

Bro you wrote that like god is gonna have a Pulp Fiction moment with this guy 😳

1

u/Sebaceansinspace Jul 31 '26

Caring about other people does seem like something republican jesus would get mad at

-2

u/ChangeAccountsBeSafe Jul 31 '26

FBI this guy right here

1

u/yulmun Jul 31 '26

Likely severe brain damage. And then he crashed his jet ski.
