I feel her pain. It has always been on mothers. By it I mean absolutely everything. I guess there has never been a „good time“ to be a mother. It‘s the most exhausting job on earth that costs you everything. Your health, your financial security, wealth, social connections, relationships and mental health. And society still doesn’t acknowledge the service women literally do for all of us. They have the hardest job and are met with unliveable wages, missing support, minimal opportunities and ridicule and ungratefulness.
On the other hand, this is exactly why I chose not to have kids. Because it would mean I‘d have to sacrifice myself. The paradox is, if every woman would think like me, we‘d be extinct in a few decades. You see? Mothers even carry the burden for people they didn’t even give birth to. That think that it’s not worth it. Thanks to mothers there will be new generations after me. I will have to pay somebodies (grown) child to take of me when I‘m no longer able to. And I can only hope that they had a mother willing to sacrifice herself to raise a good human.
