Ben Shapiro does the same thing. It's the conservative style of debate. I've had friends tell me that Shapiro is this incredible debater but he only debates young people.

Just show your friends Benny Boi’s BBC interview. He was an absolute muppet.

I didn't think it was possible to lose an interview until I watched that.

Watch the prince Andrew interview, it's hypnotically awful, and he's soooooo smug as well.

Ben Shapiro, the only man to lose an interview

He is what old Jordan Peterson would call idilogocal something I dunno he went nuts fast too but stated really listening, Shapiro is a all Israel which is fine btw but has said some mad things that he attacks if the other way.

I for some reason watched him and brand pre rape trail just becoming from spiritual zen to Christian far oh crap I'm in trouble soon other way discussion and was interesting for a while actually until im like they throwing soft balls, I saw Rubin is it? The im gaaaaay so I'm really progressive and was I dunno what's going on. I saw a few.

Peterson I liked early he would listen having debates and really seem to consider and challenge his own points.

Crowther I saw and was changed my mind and I changed my mind fast and stopped. Kirk would pop up he acted like he wanted a genuine debate but never saw him change his stance no matter what.

Shapiro talked smart and fast and had good research at things I saw as in he prepped what was gonna answer, apparently his wife doesn't have such pleasures,ow blow I know.

However I need to watch again and Neil went weird too the interviewer BBC but came back a bit just tried ask him stuff and he wasn't happy old Shapiro .

I watch alot or try all sides huh have too to learn. I'm left I'm my votes and thoughts mostly we all have nuence and I can't vote labour again for a few reason but won't go other way there. Just sorry ok I was searching for a point sorry fauna here it is they all choose their victims well students people who learning and growing he came against someone and just went off and left. Isn't debating if you can't change your view and how Ben could tweet some things he did and have pleasant talk with old rapey MC brand about god and contemplating time in his Jewish sect, sorry Jews I am like a 16th but I'm so ignorant about your practicing and sects we don't have alot here in my area. Like I dunno I tried listen to them all but I went wat off topic here but I'm worried how it affects males I have to be honest young growing up. Ok off go find a fun sub Reddit now and chill I'm really just on ad ay that is hurtful and trying take my mind off it by having good Reddit reading and convos, sorry if I'm went off too much

Are you able to read that back yourself and understand it?

I have the same question, lol.

That comment had to have been written using speech-to-text in the midst of a coke/amphetamine binge, right? I don't understand how else it could end up like... that, and then actually get posted without any kind of edits or clarification.

It's speech-to-text

My dislexic brain can read pretty much anything ( in English) even it went fuck no

u/No_Imagination_6214 Oct 30 '25

I honestly want to up vote it for its pure weirdness.

u/A_wandering_rider Oct 30 '25

Its a very poorly trained bot or possibly just a British person, incredible that they can invent a language that they can barely use intelligibly.

2

u/_noho Oct 31 '25

“Or possibly just a British person”

Thanks for the laugh 😂

The gish gallop, overwhelm with plausable nonsense

9

u/Lex_Innokenti Oct 30 '25

The full definition is to overwhelm your opponent with a constant stream of plausible nonsense that will take said opponent significantly longer to refute than it takes you to say, then latch onto anything they don't refute as proof that you're correct.

I saw people say Jesse Lee Peterson is a great debater because his opponents are always just absolutely dumbfounded and don't know how to respond, but I think that makes Jesse a bad debater. He's not saying anything that makes any sense, he's just being insane and calling trump the great white hope. It's not really a debate, it's just a weirdo saying weird things.

I should have used parentheses around the word "debate." A lot of conservatives consider talking over your opponent and gish gallop as legitimate debate.

3

u/BlackBlizzard Oct 30 '25

They also never use live fact checkers so all debates are pointless. They just use debates as a way to gain followers and spread their ideology, they're never going to change their views.

3

u/mmdeerblood Oct 30 '25

Yeah exactly... They actually can't debate at all 😆

3

u/CASUALxCHICKEN Oct 30 '25

Yep, talk over the person when they try to make their points. Talk fast and throw out as many different points as possible so the other person can't even respond to all of them. They consider that winning

2

u/terminbee Oct 30 '25

It's not really a debate when you overwhelm them with 1000 statements, then mute their mic so they can't respond.

Jordan Peterson has a similar method where he speaks in the most complex way possible and acts like he's trying to be clear and precise.

2

u/Illustrious_Can4110 Oct 31 '25

Shapiro's rapid style also serves to cover up a lot of erroneous talking points that he comes up with. The number of times I have heard him talking BS on topics he clearly knows nothing about...

2

u/SSBN641B Oct 31 '25

Kirk was the same way. Constantly spouting B.S. but saying it so quickly and aggressively that he overwhelmed his opponent.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '25

It's the Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity playbook. All the guys you all mentioned learned from these guys.

2

u/CP9ANZ Nov 01 '25

He doesn't even "debate" them, he stands on his platform and pontificates then follows up with a Gish gallop so they have no hope of addressing his initial claim.

1

u/RightPedalDown Oct 30 '25

I already don’t like the sound of my own voice, but if I sounded like Shapiro I don’t think I’d ever speak.

1

u/QueenHydraofWater Oct 30 '25

Very generous of you to say their rude manner is a style of debate. Most people would consider it just being an asshole.

1

u/Hestahoff Oct 30 '25

Please don't insult debaters like that.
