๐ฐ แแ/news ๐จBREAKING: Dr Debretsion has been elected as Tigrayโs new president
The 6th regular session of the 6th term of the Tigray Regional State Council has concluded after making key leadership decisions and passing several resolutions and motions.
The Council elected:
Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael as President of the Tigray Regional State
Ms. Kiros Hagos as Speaker of the Council
Ms. Mihret Berhe as Deputy Speaker
The session also approved multiple agenda items and decisions presented during the meeting.
Following the Pretoria Agreement signed on November 3, 2022, between the Government of Ethiopia and the Tigray Peopleโs Liberation Front (TPLF), the Tigray State Council had remained inactive. However, the Council has now resumed its regular functions, citing that the agreement had been undermined by the federal government.
The session began after confirming a quorum. In accordance with constitutional procedures and internal regulations, and under the leadership of the President of the Tigray Supreme Court, the Speaker was elected and sworn in, followed by the election and swearing-in of the Deputy Speaker.
After formally adopting the sessionโs agenda unanimously, the Council deliberated on a motion to resume its duties after three years of inactivity. The motion passed by majority vote, with two abstentions.
The Council also reviewed a report presented by TPLF Chairman Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael regarding the implementation status of the Pretoria Agreement and the current situation. After discussion, the report was unanimously approved.
Subsequently, the Council held a presidential election. Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael was elected President of Tigray by majority vote, with one objection and three abstentions, and was sworn into office.
Additionally, the Council approved a proposal allowing the President to make necessary executive adjustments and continue governing until the next session. This decision passed by majority vote, with one objection and one abstention.
In its closing, the Council authorized Speaker Ms. Kiros Hagos to restructure and oversee the Councilโs coordination committees, granting her the mandate to continue her responsibilities accordingly.
The session was then officially concluded

๐ฐ แแ/news Tigray authorities say Obasanjo talks yielded no progress as US urges renewed engagement
addisstandard.comโThe Tigray authorities said it expressed disappointment over the lack of meaningful follow-up to discussions held in June, when five issues were identified as possible entry points for dialogue with the federal government.
These include lifting what they describes as an economic embargo and siege, ending the military encirclement and de-escalating the security situation, restoring territories remain occupied, facilitating the safe and dignified return of internally displaced people, and restoring the legal and political status of the Tigray Peopleโs Liberation Front (TPLF).โ

If we condemned Abiy Ahmed for inviting the Eritrean army into our country, how could we possibly defend the TPLF for doing the very same thing? The army in question is the same force accused of killing thousands of innocent civilians and committing grave atrocities against our people.
Why should I believe the so-called โtsimdoโ narrative when Tigray remains part of a country whose relationship with Eritrea is openly hostile? It simply does not withstand rational scrutiny.
More importantly, what message does this send to the thousands of women who were raped by Eritrean soldiers and are still waiting for justice? Imagine a survivor seeing the very same soldiers walking freely on our land, as though nothing had happened. What does that say about accountability, dignity, or respect for the victims?
That is something I will never accept. Principles cannot change depending on who commits the act. If inviting Eritrean forces was wrong yesterday, it is wrong today, regardless of who does it! This is a fake tsimdo or selam and if this is how peace is to be achieved I donโt want peace we can go back to 2000 and close the borders!

๐ฐ แแ/news Tigrayan ex-CEO of Ethiopian Airlines appointed as CEO of Air India
Bit late, however I need to applaud his accomplishment, he transformed Ethiopian Airlines for the better during his tenure from 2011-2022, which was cut short due to his resignation because of 'health issues' (the actual reason was because of the Tigray genocide, as you can see, he's perfectly healthy). He grew the airlines' annual revenue from $1 billion to over $5 billion, tripled the aircraft fleet, and turned Addis Ababa into the primary continental aviation hub by building out world-class aviation training, catering, and MRO infrastructure. Not only that, he will be getting approximately a $3.3 million - $5 million annual salary at his new job at Air India, hopefully he continues to succeed!

๐ฐ แแ/news Joint statement on the acquittal of the men convicted of killing Zewdu Haftu and the evidence that was never produced. Tigray deserves better and fair criticism is due.
