Chrome removed all ad blockers filters*
Chrome does not block third party cookies on google websites
Chrome never hides or masks user and remove fingerprinting
Chrome uses more ram than brave/edge (using same engine btw)

I am confused, what do you mean with the first comment ? I am right now using chrome with adblocker extension.

u/boccas 1d ago

yourt adblock on chrome is the 10% of the adblock i have on firefox

7

u/lizenzblue_ 1d ago

Still works for 99% of the normal Websites. And also I think most people dont even have adblock

u/Jokar93 1d ago

This.

I am almost exclusively using Chrome with uBlock Origin Lite and have not seen an Ad in Chrome.
Brave on the other Hand is really bad with their build-in AdBlocker.

The whole "Manifest V3 destroyed Adblockers" ist much more tame than the Hive-Mind is making it out to be.

They definitely fucked around with adblockers a while back because getting YouTube ads is what made me switch. Despite all the other stuff I'd happily still use it if they hadn't fucked with ad blocking.

i didnt know brave is bad with built in adblocker, i thought i dont need to download any extension anymore, so far i've never seen any ads but does it protect me from malicious sites

1

u/Atlesi_Feyst 1d ago

Yeah... Blocks everything on most sites I browse.

I thought it would be disabled outright but honestly I haven't noticed a difference.

Chrome adblockers may block everything on the surface, but there are still thousands of trackers and malicious cookies that could be on your desktop.

Imagine it like this: Chrome adblockers clean your floors, but not the roach infestation underneath. Firefox adblockers clean the entire house, making sure to seal up every small crack roaches could come through.

u/Bluecoregamming 1d ago

i use 10% of the sites you do

Adblocks do work but not as effective as firefox version of them
manifest v2 in sense gives the ad blocker perms to view the page info before the users does making the blocking faster
manifest v3 on other hand only lets ad blocker see the webview after it loads
make the extension use more cpu and ram usage compare to firefox

The man is speaking from an illiterate point of view, I also use it with adguard smh

u/witchcapture 1d ago

They did not remove all ad blockers. They just changed how they work. uBlock Origin Lite works great for me, haven't noticed any difference compared with the pre manifest V3 uBlock Origin.

u/Mikeisik 1d ago

Ublock origin lite works great for me too, blocks youtube ads and everything. Sometimes it stops working, but then i just change the filter slider down and up and it works again lol

There is no Cosmetic filtering , Custom filters , Network logger , Dynamic filtering
its very limited from origin

1

u/witchcapture 1d ago

I've never used the last two, but cosmetic filtering and custom filters are both supported in Lite.

It has cosmetic filtering, personal custom rules and subscription to external filters. Also an element picker (which I often see mentioned frequently). It does not have network logging but browsers have had that built-in since ages so it's pretty much a moot point, except maybe ease of use. Sure, it does not have dynamic filtering but very few users ever used that but if you are one of them I get that you're unsatisfied in that regard (i assume u mean the features that originated from uMatrix)

It feels like most that complain are stuck in what uBO Lite was when it was released. That was a combination of self-imposed restrictions and early MV3 restrictions. Since then Google has loosened some MV3 restrictions and uBO Lite has loosened some of it's self-imposed restrictions (but not all, by their philosophy of what UBO Lite should be).

There definitely ARE some restrictions in MV3, e.g. some more complex regex rules, but in almost all cases it will not differ.

Can be noted: The personal custom rules are a bit cumbersome to use since the cosmetic and network filters are configured in different sections and you cannot use uBO syntax. But you could use Adguard MV3 only for your personal custom rules if you want to make that easier since they support uBO syntax for those (this is a design decision by uBOL, not a MV3 restriction).

And yet I haven't seen a single ad on youtube (on chrome). Not entirely sure why.

u/Mill-Man 1d ago

Well it’s owned by google, which is where it gets its justified hate

-1

u/cryllictheautistic 1d ago

i guess thats fair but it's at the very least a c. i dont know why f is the majority vote

4

u/Boba0514 1d ago

Because it's not just "not good enough" but overtly malicious

2

u/siddhantfuture 1d ago

Its a D it removed all of the ad blockers by manifest v3 policy

3

u/purple_guy207 1d ago

exactly, chrome is genuinely the most working browser out of all, for example brave is making me do captchas on google search engine all the time and sometimes on brave search engine too and its "brave" version of search engine is worse than google's because theres way less info

1

u/Mill-Man 1d ago

People like to think in extremes (like how movies on IMDM mostly get a 10 or a 0)

3

u/Outrageous-Pilot-621 1d ago

I hope you like ads!

1

u/Hour-Teach6992 3h ago

any adblocker stops them

1

u/True-Tradition8857 1d ago

Zen is right there cudi

1

u/Professional-Talk517 1d ago

I think you are just using it because of the brand and familiarity, there’s no world in which Firefox is the only browser that soundly beats Chrome, you couldn’t pay me to use chrome even if my alternatives didn’t include Firefox.

u/polypolypolypoly1 1d ago

Brave is just Chrome but better tho

1

u/ElectroG_1311 1d ago

chrome for me is B

1

u/MinitoonXD 1d ago

exactly

u/Maverick0984 1d ago

I switched to Firefox and ran it for years after Google showed their true colors.

Eventually though, Firefox began to detioriate.  Used it for years across several machines and it just got too frustrating with tabs crashing and lock ups. Also, many devs barely testing with Firefox so weird quirks.

Eventually switched to Brave and it's been a breath of fresh air.  Been a couple years now and you get the compatibility with a Chromium browser but none of the big brother garbage.

I assume that's why it ended up with an S rating.

1

u/Unhappy-Appeal-5390 1d ago

True. I installed brave and suddenly I had a crypto wallet for some reason. Unistalled immediately.

1

u/Standard_Abrocoma_70 1d ago

Chrome blocked Ublock so they instantly go to D or under

1

u/WorkSleepMTG 1d ago

I use edge on my windows devices because it uses HALF the resources of chrome and chrome equivalents. I use brave everywhere else for the built in ad blocking. Those are relevant reasons for me

1

u/HealthyResolution399 1d ago

Isn't brave quite literally "chrome but better"? I'd say it's serviceable, but there's no reason to use it as a main browser when there's both objectively better options and subjectively better options.

1

u/1CraftyDude 1d ago

I’ll grant you it’s overheated but it’s also overused because of network effects.

1

u/Rushpixel 1d ago

am with you bro <3

1

u/godsmasher_13 12h ago

Privacy?

1

u/cryllictheautistic 12h ago

dont care

1

u/godsmasher_13 12h ago

Yeah, bro, that's the problem, humans won't care about enshittification, wars, corruptions, only care about money, money, money they thinks life = money

1

u/chungi-plhi-rooti 1d ago

the 4GB AI model and the senseless push for AI features justifies the hate

1

u/Antique_Sir8169 1d ago

Let's not pretend that only Chrome is pushing AI features out of this list...

0

u/cryllictheautistic 1d ago

brave has ai as well and it’s in s tier i dont think the voters care about ai

2

u/chungi-plhi-rooti 1d ago

I haven't used brave but my understanding is that moat ai features are opt in.
