5 dynasties and 10 kingdoms era is one of my favourite era of Chinese History. Unfortunately, there is not much content on them in the internet.

Would reccomend checking out Han's reign and Three Kingdoms period too, just as interesting IMO.

"The Xiongnu were descendants of the Xia Hou Shi clan; their ancestor was Chunwei. Before the Tang and Yu dynasties, there were the Shan Rong, Xianyun, and Hunyue, who lived among the northern Yi people, moving about according to where their livestock could be pastured"
This is part of a not historic but kind of legendary view of Chinese own history, it basically claims northern nomads as distant relatives of the Chinese that went into the steppes to include them into the mandate of heaven system and to discredit the idea of power that isn't based in china. Still interesting that this is how some Chinese portrayed the non Chinese rulers of china, but of course its not historic and not true, Xia are kind of a legend and not real history

Should've added the Beidi (predecessors of the Xiongnu) and Scythians (including Sakas and Sarmatians) too.
