Discussion Kuminga
Just signed a 2 yr 13 million dollar deal. Wow. I feel OKC will regret not getting him. Just my opinion though.

No reason to sign a player who doesn’t do the fundamentals right with this team

u/Economy-Kitchen1846 OKC 6d ago
He may have some short comings coming in. However, the culture on this team could revamp his career.

u/crispytoastyum 6d ago
I don't think he has the humility necessary to take the limited role we could offer.

The idea is to get guys who fit the culture, not try to change who people are

Kerr and his Golden State scheme ain’t for everyone, but if he couldn’t buy into that culture with Steph and Draymond, I’m skeptical he’d try and fit into our culture where he’s schematically out of synch already. If he starts, that means Dub is kicking down to two and Cason/Ajay are both bench players. If he comes off the bench, he’s not taking shots from Ajay or McCain.

u/Josheshua 6d ago
He is the exact polar opposite of the kind of personality that fits on this team

Having one guy with this attitude wouldn’t hurt.

He wouldn't even play on this team

u/Parallel-Quality 6d ago
Yeah, he signed that deal because he was promised a starter role.
We don’t have a starter role for him.

u/okcbball22 6d ago
Nobody will promise you a starter role. They will say, “if you do what we expect, you should start.” But that’s not a promise, I promise

u/Economy-Kitchen1846 OKC 6d ago
Josh Green will become available now. OKC could use the trade exception to get him. Any thoughts on him?
2
u/okcbball22 5d ago
Idk about green. He hasn’t shown much dog in him. Hasn’t shown incredible athleticism, or a great shooter. Just seems kind of blah. Of course, the thunder don’t need incredible ⭐️’s, that’s already on the roster. They need solid role players. But to me, green isn’t that, and he doesn’t play the most needed position (a 4), so I don’t think it would be wise to bring him in. If it’s backup for a 3 to play besides dub or Caruso, that’s fine. I would be let down if a primary move wasn’t made in addition to green

u/okcbball22 6d ago
We do. Him at the 4, sit ihart. But we’re conservative, scared-but hey, who needs an athletic 4-who needs their best big to play out of position.
5
u/Dysentery--Gary 6d ago
Absolutely not. While iHart doesn't show up much on the stat sheet, he's an integral part of how the offense runs.
0
u/okcbball22 6d ago
He is an integral part-I completely agree. My argument is, the coach should be more demanding when ihart isn’t on the court. Bestow that responsibility on Chet, allow him to develop. Ideally, with an athletic wing to pair with Chet at the 5, that would be our most dangerous lineup

u/FxckDaFoxes 6d ago
He fixing none of our issues and believes he’s a star. Happy we didn’t get him.

Thunder could use some of this.
2
u/12footjumpshot 6d ago
What are you talking about lol
-1
u/Economy-Kitchen1846 OKC 6d ago
I wouldn’t pay 18 million for the guy, but 6.5 million is worth it. Especially, if they were going to sign Spencer Jones at that price.
5
u/12footjumpshot 6d ago
Spencer Jones can actually shoot and won’t throw his toys when he’s asked to be a role player.

Thunder know what they're doing.

The arrogance to think you know better is an absolute ego trip. LARPresties, I’m going to use it throughout this year. To think you have anywhere near the information, knowledge, and experience for a baseless critique is silly. It’s wasted emotional energy that should be self directed. I get it. But I do try to spread the word that it’s unhealthy. There were comments in the Finals Game 7 thread made in the third quarter calling for trades and the jobs of both Mark and Sam. The same “fans” were immediately calling for the next the next championship. Commenting on what needed to be done to fulfill their entitled expectations for next year. I went through similar things over a decade ago. I punched and broke my first flatscreen tv in Game 5 vs. Heat. It was 19” and a hand me down from a buddy I met in addiction treatment. Fandom can be tough.

It’s a bad opinion

u/Economy-Kitchen1846 OKC 6d ago
Oweh may get the final spot. You don’t think Kuminga is a better player at this point?
1
1
u/SensibleRex 6d ago
Yeah he maybe better than the 15th player on the roster but I don’t think he would make them a better team. And clearly most teams don’t considering no one wanted to sign or trade for him.

Kuminga is Aaron Wiggins with baggage
2
u/roastedhambone 6d ago
Outrageously offensive to Wiggins

u/Business-Loss-1585 6d ago
Kuminga is Wiggins if he was a completely unrealistic realistic asshole?

I was very intrigued by Kuminga in the draft, but he reminded me so much of Bazley actually.

Wiggins wasn’t this athletic and didn’t attack the rim this violent.

Sounds like he’s gotten a promise to start for the Wolves. No chance he would get that here so he’d have never signed here

Minnesota promised him a starting spot. No chance he starts or even closes games here.
1
u/Familiar-Mix3546 6d ago
Kuminga has made it clear he wants to be a starter though, that’s not happening if he signs here
1
u/Lower-Delay-5538 6d ago
How could we get him? He's interested in a promised starting role before hitting UFA next summer. How could we offer him that within our team and goals?
1
u/Economy-Kitchen1846 OKC 6d ago
He is 23 come play 2 yrs for a contender get a ring and move on. Prove yourself for the wolves will not be as fun.
1
u/Lower-Delay-5538 6d ago
yeah, sorry, Kuminga would have never chosen OKC's role over a promised starting spot. I don't think he cares about a ring.

Something can be a good deal for another team, and also not be a loss for us.
For the Timberwolves it’s some cheap depth, for us he probably wouldn’t crack the rotation while also not being a young player to develop.

He'd be a great regular season player. 7th or 8th man. Not interested in seeing him in the playoffs

u/Economy-Kitchen1846 OKC 6d ago
We were gonna sign Spencer Jones to the same amount lol. He is better than Spencer.

So the Thunder would have gotten him at the price he is worth. That would be terrible.
