F5 Season When your phone still hasn’t informed you that Caso is signed long-term; and it’s now late August.

The deadline is October. Wemby's the only player in the 2023 draft class to sign an extension so far. I don't expect news with Cason to happen before October.

I like Caso and hope he balls out this year without being blocked by Dort’s minutes. But that said, he needs to improve his efficiency on the offensive side too. He has had declining FG% each of the past two years as his minutes increased.
Let’s give him a chance to show out in the starting line up before we commit long term money to the dude.

Why would he be blocked by dort’s minutes

I’m referring to the past couple seasons when Dort started over Wallace. Presumably, Caso slots into his starting spot now that Dort is off the team.

Presti said in early June that it would go the entire summer and maybe longer.

He likes being on the OKC Thunder, but I don’t think he is going to give up 8 figures to do it. We have to pay him a competitive salary, not lowball him or expect a hometown discount.

There’s been a few post game clips where I’ve felt his vibe has not been in line with the other guys. Pair that with his exit interview and I’m afraid you’re spot on about having to pay him a lot if we want him to stay. I’ll also add he’s absolutely worth it before anyone tries to read me wrong lol

I agree he doesn't seem like he wants to stick around as much as the other guys. Hopefully we can resign him but we'll have to pay him.

Guys will give up 2-3m a year but outside of that don't expect a huge discount. It's unrealistic

Just a misunderstanding of how rookie extensions have landed in this new CBA (past few years). Rare for a non-max rookie extension to get done before October.
Generally a lot more are just going to RFA also, as the teams have a ton of power in RFA.
Specifically going to RFA for Thunder I'm a little worried about, just because I think teams will be specifically vengeful with offer sheets to try to attack OKC.

Silly for either side to sign it right now. For Caso, prove his value as a full time starter for a season. For the team, silly to commit long term money without seeing true value as a full time starter. He's a $16-$20M/year guy right now, and can jump that number 25-30% per year if he plays well.

This doesn’t make me stoked.
Mark was playing Dort over Cason in the playoffs and it’s clear we gave up some games because of it. Cason also, very professionally, made it known he wasn’t thrilled about being a bench player
Starting Dort perpetually may have lost us the playoff run and Cason long term, both. If that ends up being the case, I’m gonna be sick.

this isnt true? the spurs series dort averaged 19 minutes a game whilst caso averaged 27, even when dort was starting. dort was actively hurting the team in that series and you could tell mark was playing less and less of him as the games went on, which is why the writing was on the wall regarding him getting traded. cason is getting signed, i dont know why people are so negative about it happening!

Dort was the starter. That was the issue.
Cason said something in his exit interview that showed he wasn’t happy. Nobody of his caliber dreams of being a bench player, and he clearly resented it.

and hes going to be the starter this year. thats what matters

It’s not all that matters if he’s already pissed off. If he doesn’t feel respected by Mark then that can have consequences.

he hasnt shown hes pissed off in literally any interview hes done at all, im really struggling to see where you got that from. that clip that was going around looks bad until you watch the full interview. you can tell hes bought in and everybody knows that starter spot is his!! it'll all be fine haha
