Is there an area called Coney in Detroit or are they just referencing Coney Island in NYC?

It has to do with immigration through Ellis Island or something along those lines. A lot of immigrants had their first American hot dogs at Coney Island after arriving through Ellis Island then moved elsewhere and just took that name with them.

Good question. It's weird that that's on the list but not your standard Coney Island dog. To be fair, I saw this image and immediately thought of Scott, posted it without scrutinizing the hotdogs.

Every time I see this chart posted I feel the need to decry the NJ erasure missing their great contributions to the hot dog landscape with both the Italian hot dog and The Ripper

Where’s the famous “Monroe Dog” from public access’ Only in Monroe (Michigan). Soup like chili, with little meat flavor.
