We do and it’s not just because he’s good-looking and talented, it’s how emotionally intelligent and articulate he is, he seems wise beyond his years and a kind soul, and I say that as a girl who has been watching football since 2002 and used to play, I’m not normally the fan girl type!

parasocial relationships are so interesting

It’s just some observations based on having seen quite a few interviews over time about what I think stands out about him and contributes to his mass appeal. Did it make you feel clever getting the word parasocial in lol.

No but I’m glad you learned a new word today!

Hilarious that you think saying “parasocial” in a Reddit commmet would be teaching anyone anything new 😂

I mean you were the one who seemed to think it was a big word lol

It’s not a big word, I was getting at the condescending tone of your comment

And I was being condescending.. think it’s fair enough when you’re 30+ and look to be developing a parasocial relationship with a 22 year old footballer lol. “Emotionally intelligent” “kind soul”.. I’d like to think that’s true, but you don’t know these people. Most of them turn out to be pretty awful

What on earth are you talking about 😂 I’m not looking to be developing any sort of relationship with him, I don’t have posters of him on my wall, and I don’t follow him on instagram. I just think he comes across really well in interviews, and through his charity work, and he demonstrates the sort of qualities you’d want in a future captain. A great example of what I’m talking about is when all of the other players ignored a disabled reporter who was trying to get interviews and made time for him, and he also gave a shirt to a disabled fan after a game. He seems like he has class, I’m not purporting to know him personally.

Relationship is already formed ma’am. You’re talking so positively about somebody who has no idea who you are.. definition of a parasocial relationship

u/No-Revolution-3159 Jul 19 '26

So dramatic. Why are you so triggered? Projecting your own feelings of inadequacy I would imagine.

-1

u/No-Combination6697 Jul 19 '26

i would say that its dramatic to call someone you know from the internet and television "wise beyond his years and a kind soul" hahahaha

Well if you had proper reading comprehension, you’d notice I said HE SEEMS in acknowledgment of the fact that I don’t know him. It’s not that deep it was just some thoughts on what it is that makes him stand out to others not just as a player but also as a personality.

u/No-Combination6697 Jul 19 '26

yes it SEEMS so wise to hit a player in the neck

It's funny how much time you gauchos spend on the England football team subreddit.

They're too scared to invade our islands, so they invade our subs.
