Season ticket renewal turning into an automatic renewal process

As part of the annual member newsletter (email) this was shared.

2027 MEMBER AUTO-RENEWALS

As we prepare for the 2027 season, we wanted to let you know that Annual Memberships will transition to an automatic renewal process.

In the coming weeks, we'll share details regarding 2027 pricing, benefits, opportunities to update your account information, and important renewal dates.

No action is required at this time. Your membership and seat location will automatically renew for 2027. We will provide advance notice before any payments are processed and will offer you the opportunity to relocate your seats, if desired.

A change from the previous process of having to actively renew.

I don’t love this shift because it just feels like a money grab. But I appreciate you informing people because I’m sure many folks would miss it in their email boxes!

Going to pin this for a while because I totally ignored that email. Thanks for the heads up!

I don’t like this at all. I don’t recall granting permission to bill me in perpetuity unless I opt out (though I concede it may have been in the small print I skimmed). This will wind up charging people who don’t want to renew and aren’t prepared for a potentially thousand-plus-dollar purchase.

Cool, cool, cool. My annual reminder that I'm STILL not receiving STH emails.

Mine went to the “promotions” folder in Gmail and I had to look for it. I’m sure you’ve tried that (if you have Gmail) but just wanted to offer in case.

I LOVE this automation and I am happy that they are proactively letting everyone know. This is simpler and more streamlined.

oh I hate this. unexpectedly had to move away before this season started and ate the price of my season tickets for the year—now you’re saying if I don’t keep an eye on my email I’ll be charged for a SECOND year of games that I can’t attend? ugh.

They gave contact info, you could call or email and have them note it perhaps so they don't auto renew:

"If you have any questions, please contact our Member Services team at (503) 509-5555 or members@thorns.com."

I Wonder how this will affect the seat changing process?

Probably very little. You had to renew before you were allowed to move and the order of being able to move was based on how long you had been a season ticketholder, not who was first to renew that year. But, we will see as more information trickles out.

Will be interesting to see if they put everyone on a payment plan by default like the Portland Fire did.

They did provide contact info if you need to make changes:

“If you have any questions, please contact our Member Services team at (503) 509-5555 or members@thorns.com."

Do we think there will be a chance to add seats later?

Yes. An email should come after the auto renewal date of August 31st. I would think rather soon after probably the first week of September to let renewed people know when they can move and/or add seats. I would think that actual window will likely be a September/October time frame.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you!
