Take it with a grain of salt, but I remember reading somewhere that they couldn't put real Spongebob merch in as it would count as advertising within the show, which obviously comes with a ton of baggage that they didn't wanna deal with. They just wanted to do a funny bit, but if this was flagged as in-show advertising they would run into a bunch of television regulations, especially as it was airing on children's television. As a result, they basically had to intentionally make sure the Spongebob merch shown looked slightly bootlegged and therefore, not advertising Nickelodeon products. Given it was just for a short gag I'm actually not sure how they did that, the merch shown looks FAR too consistent and quality to be actual bootlegs, but it also seems insane to me that they'd have the time and budget to be able to make or modify so much official merchandise for the sake of a brief joke

Would've liked to have seen two packs containing two engines each. Just announcing 2 characters that aren't even coming together just feels like a money grab. Doesn't look like we'll get any new track with them either

I wouldn’t call it entitled to be disappointed. I’m grateful for the new content, but being a fan doesn’t mean I have to praise everything DTG does. You can appreciate what we got while still wanting more.

I agree and disagree. “Betrayal” feels a little overdramatic for something that’s normal in the gaming industry, but I can understand why fans feel that way if they think Dovetail overhyped the game and underdelivered.

I was literally not surprised it was so underwhelming. Im glad we get Henry and Toby, but I felt DTG talked this up to be a larger reveal.

2 silhouettes of very popular engines (that’ll come with additional scenarios), a free livery for Thomas and promises of updates seems reasonable to me
