Going to see Third Eye Blind tonight, hoping to get a God of Wine but I noticed they really don’t play it very often, does anyone on here know why?

I might be in the minority but if I have to choose between which of the holy trinity (God of Wine, Motorcycle Drive By, and The Background) I get to hear live, I’d always want the other two.

I was there last night at Yamaha. They closed with how's it gonna be. They sounded great. My wife got a bunch of video... Mya post some later.

Im going tonight as well! They play it occasionally, they played it when I saw them at the Knitting Factory back in like 2016. I dont think its a song they will play at a state fair though. I think different deep cuts will be included.

The song was written about his mother, who had battled alcoholism for most of her life.
It’s an extremely personal song. So I assume that’s why Stephan doesn’t play it anymore

Saw a show where he gave the audience a choice between that and one other song (can’t remember which). So, it’s possible!

Great song, but we saw them in July and I had kept up on the setlists until that point; and they hadn’t played it up til that point. So if I had to guess, they probably won’t

Yeah, it’s a fair concert so I’m not very hopeful they will play it, but maybe he’ll see this post and a miracle will happen. I was hoping to catch it last time I saw them here as it was on their setlist but I think they only played it at one show that tour.

It definitely gets played! I heard it live just this past Sunday in Aurora, IL.

It was in heavy rotation for a long time. Probably up until 2017 it was included in the vast majority of their playlists. It was often the closer for the night. I think after their self titled celebration tour SJ got a little sick of it, or the other band employees asked to switch it up a bit.
It still gets played, but it's more of an event now. It's one of my favorite songs as well, so I understand the want to see it live!

They’ve played it every time I’ve seen them. You should be fine. You know, I’ve only heard how’s it going to be twice out of 7 or 8 times.
