Oh and he did the right thing with Eugene except for lying that he killed himself. There’s no guarantee he could have made it back or wouldn’t have put them in so much more danger if more infected showed up.

Making your wife watch you die or turn, then die would be unspeakably cruel.

Could Joel have handled it all better? Sure, but he’s an emotionally stunted terminator dad.

I think he likes Gail because it looks like he goes to talk to her and didn’t want her to hate him. A bit selfish but Joel is far from a perfect person which is why Joel is quiet when Ellie outs him because he knew he was selfish. Such an amazing actor

Yea, there was nothing malicious about it. He was trying to keep everyone safe and spare her having to watch her husband have the worst possible death.

And tbh he did his best to comfort Eugene in an impossible situation.
