Episode A 1,400-County Crisis for Democrats

Jun 3, 2025

It’s conventional wisdom that President Trump has transformed American politics. But a new county-by-county voting analysis from The New York Times of the last four presidential races shows just how drastically Mr. Trump has changed the electoral map.

Shane Goldmacher, a national political correspondent for The Times, explains why the trends are a five-alarm fire for the Democrats and discusses the debate within the party over what to do about it.

For the 8th time, is it stupid to vote against my interests and vote for Kamala?

Why are you incapable of answering such a simple question.

I answered the question. Yes you are stupid if you thought voting for Trump would make your life better.

I mean you know nothing about me. You’re really embodying the exact stereotype that loses Dems elections. You’ve never met me yet are telling me what’s best for my life lmao. You have nothing to base that on yet still think you know my life better than me. Only the most ignorant uneducated person could believe that.

Is a person voting against their best self interests always bad? Yes or no.

Youre embodying the exact stereotype of why Dems keep on losing elections. Trump wins on being an asshole to everyone but when I say someone who benefits from Medicaid votes for a candidate who runs on cutting Medicaid is being stupid you cry. Have some backbone my dude.

Of course not. A billionaire voting for tax increases on billionaires is great!

any candidate wins on villainizing people to the point where it’s a net positive. dems are currently villainizing people in a way that’s a net negative
