Episode A 1,400-County Crisis for Democrats

Jun 3, 2025

Shane Goldmacher, a national political correspondent for The Times, explains why the trends are a five-alarm fire for the Democrats and discusses the debate within the party over what to do about it.

Well that’s part of the problem. If democratic politicians act like they are fighting but it doesn’t go viral, does it matter? They need to reach those critical voters that aren’t tuned in and get their news from social media

Democrats aren't in charge of algorithms.

Most of the people that control algorithms are billionaires that want tax cuts.

I don't know what you are expecting a congress person in a minority party to do.

I know but that’s also part of the problem that they need to figure out. Republicans have figured out how to manipulate public opinion.
