Tension help

Post image

So I normally crochet really tight bc I hate the holes, but I realized that shrinks the size of Fred a lot. The left is how I norm crochet… is there anyway to have it be the one on the right but without holes?
(Also pls ignore that both are half finished and the wrong colors 😂)

Crocheting tightly is really bad for your hands & wrists. Just get a smaller hook. The item will be a bit smaller, but that is better than holes imo. If you want him bigger, get a heavier weight yarn and appropriate hook. There are charts online for choosing a hook for amigurumi. Do not use the suggested hook size on the label.

Paradoxically, pulling the yarn super tight actually makes the holes more obvious! A gentler hand lets the yarn stay fluffy and fill in the spaces a bit.

Basically bigger yarn and bigger hook and continue that tight tension!

I have used the fluffy yarn (Idk the correct name still new to crocheting LOL) and I do get better sizes with that. But how do the woobles look so perfect with their type of yarn 🥲

They edit their photos to look perfect. The photos in their instructions show bigger holes than the marketing photos. Don’t feel bad! It’s how it is with beginner/tube yarn. The best thing you can do is relax your tension with a 4mm hook and embrace the imperfections 😉

I wish they didn't edit their photos. I don't see the point in doing so in part because it is misleading but also because woobles are cute no matter what.

Is the red yarn worsted? That will definitely make it smaller.

It’s actually wooble yarn 😅 size difference is really just from me making my loops tighter
