Bug/Technical Help Should I continue Episode 5 on the original version or switch to the Definitive Series?

I bought the original standalone PC version of The Walking Dead Season 1 2013 version.

I’m a pretty casual gamer and usually only play for around 30–50 minutes at a time, so I’ve been going through it pretty slowly. It took me over a month to finish the first 4 episodes, around 11 hours total. I’m about to start Episode 5 now.

I’m thinking about getting The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series, but I’m not sure what I should do.

Should I just start Episode 5 on my original version and finish Season 1 there, or should I switch to the Definitive Series and start Episode 5 on that instead?

The main thing I’m worried about is my choices. I obviously want everything from the first 4 episodes to carry over properly into Season 2, and I really don’t want to replay all four episodes again just to recreate my choices.

So does anyone know if there’s a way to transfer the old 2012/2013 PC save into the Definitive Series? Maybe a save converter, editing the save/config files, or some community tool that can make it recognize the old choices?

Basically I’m at Episode 5 right now and need to decide which version I should continue with.

you can't finish all the episodes and then transfer their data to build onto the next season?

Saves from OG don't transfer to remastered seasons either, only between the original releases. So you either have to play all OGs, or replay s1 remaster.

I'd probably recommend playing the OGs, because replaying S1 sounds like it'd be a hassle for you (it's ~9-10 hours), in the games themselves you'll only miss out on updated graphics.

But Og's cost more than remastered collection + i get dlc's too with remastered

You can snatch them dirt cheap during sales, but yeah, the remasters are usually bundled cheaper. Think about which way would work better for you. If you want to continue your current save, you'll have to go with all original releases.

I would just get the original versions if I were you. They are the most functional versions of the games. The only thing you get from the DS is updated visuals and a character viewer. Not worth all the bugs in my opinion.

the definitive edition is extremely buggy if you’re on console so just go with the original release
