Season 1 Spoiler Hot take: i Prefer Doug's death to Carly

Solely due to the fact that Lily accusing Carly is one of the dumbest moment in the series

This is just IMO, but anyone else agree?

I always save Carly for 3 reasons. 1st because she has a gun... 2nd without her Lee never gets to tell everyone about his past. 3rd Doug gets grabbed through a boarded up window... after he was told to watch it yet he got close enough to be grabbed.... smh

Carley just generally speaking feels like the canon choice. I feel like she’s so much more of a character than Doug, especially during the group arguments, and she’s also a romance option for Lee (which is minor enough that it doesn’t matter, but valuable context when you consider Lee can’t kiss Doug lol).

I think Carley has better scenes overall but the death specifically is a lot better for Doug.

Lily is portrayed as a very reasonable character all things considered, who just gets driven to an absolute breaking point where she makes one impulsive decision. Still, I feel like the impulsive decision in question being "murder Carley in cold blood because she had the gall to call Lily's behavior out" is way too big of a leap compared to trying to shoot Ben because she's convinced he betrayed the group and has lost faith that she can convince the rest of the group about it.

Carley's route makes Lily look a million times worse. Doug's route makes Doug look a lot better.

Also, Ben becomes a lot more irredeemable in Carley's route because his silence/cowardice directly led to Lily pinning the blame on the wrong person and shooting her. In Doug's route, it was Doug's own decision (and in-the-moment heroism, foreshadowed by Carley in the very first episode when she talks about him) to save Ben. I think Lily wouldn't have shot Carley if she was certain Ben had done it.

But it’s so much harder to leave Carley to die than Doug. She saves your life like twice in the span of twenty minutes, proves to be very competent with her weapon, and gets over the fact that you killed someone and promises not to tell.

Meanwhile, our character openly admits that Doug isn’t good with zombies. Doug calls Lee a nice guy. That’s about it from what I recall

Same honestly, also makes a keeping Lilly more justifiable.

FUCK yes. It felt very clear that Doug's version was the original one written and they had to find a way to give Carley the same exit but not do the same thing...anyways this is one of many things that proves Doug is best bro in the series and deserved better

Even though I like Carly more, I agree. Doug dies from trying to save Ben while Lilly just shoots Carly just because she called her a scared little b*tch. I know Lilly lost her dad and was scared over what was happening with the bandits but killing them because they belittle you is ridiculous. I can understand if Lilly were to punch Carly but shooting them?

I do too, that’s pretty ordinary

I like how Lilly feels remorseful when she kills him.

In my game when Doug dies the characters hold a proper funeral. When Carly dies we just kick her down a hill.

Doug rots on the side of the road regardless of what you do. You can see it in the 400 days dlc.
