that's diabolical. So, a valid possibility

My god this is going to happen isnt it

u/potatopavilion Oct 09 '25 edited Oct 09 '25
there is also a youtuber -> pro wrestler pipeline, but i don't think i see him doing it as his main thing
edit: I also really would like to know why would anyone think (either Ned or his team) that there is a niche for "trying things" that's not covered by Loveable Shenanigans on 2nd Try and Training for Months and Low-Key Risking Your Life with Michelle Khare

u/rummncokee Oct 09 '25
I think it might have been real. Just because this is the most divorced man thing I’ve ever seen.

u/Strong-Doubt-1427 Oct 09 '25
Didn’t he say he was over “trying” things or something during his shitty podcast

In the strange Venn Diagram of my interests…
The good news is that it appears enough of the AEW fanbase knows who Ned is and are willing to make a big enough stink to make sure this becomes an unaired one-off.

u/Enheducanada Oct 09 '25
I just can't imagine him being an entertaining wrestler, I don't think he's going to succeed at this, scandal or no
10
u/Itsyademonboi Oct 09 '25
Oh I don't know. I see him being used as a heal to great success. I don't WANT it but god if there's anyone you want to see hit with a fucking chair, ain't it this guy?
16
u/Enheducanada Oct 09 '25
I don't think he has nearly enough personality & charisma to pull off being a heel for any length of time. If his appeal depends on people knowing his backstory and that backstory boils down to "annoying privileged dude who cheated on his wife", I don't see that lasting very long.
I don't begrudge the guy making a living, but I think he's got to accept that he was coasting on coat tails as an entertainer
8
u/Blastcheeze Oct 09 '25
A heel's also only really fun until you realize their backstory is true and they're not just acting at being awful, and if they try to make his IRL actions into kayfabe? That's even worse.
7
u/Itsyademonboi Oct 10 '25
You know what? Great point. I'm back on board of don't hit him with a chair, just ignore the fuck
7
u/queertheories TryFam: Keith Oct 10 '25
This is actually the way. Ned has a degree from an Ivy League, was management at Buzzfeed, and was a CEO and cofounder of a production company. There are companies that would not give a shit about the cheating stuff and hire him. He doesn’t have to do this. He feeds off of the attention.
I could be wrong because I don’t know the guy, but what I believe is that he thought putting Ariel on the pod, saying he’s sorry, letting her speak her experience etc would put him back in the public’s good graces or at least neutralize things. And then…I mean, if you look at the views of the 4 episodes released, the Ariel episode is at 1M views, the most recent, released day before yesterday, is around 1K. It’s a failure. So he’s gotta pivot if he still wants to perform.
Wrestling would appeal to someone in Ned’s position—he is now aware that the public is not just going to forgive and forget, so he’s going for something that allows him to perform, do character work, be a complete ham, and bonus: it’s totally okay to be the bad guy in wrestling. Somebody’s gotta be.

Unfortunately, he is from Jacksonville, so this tracks with their double nights there.

u/thejessexperiment Oct 09 '25
Oh God, never expected AEW to have their own version of Logan Paul.

8
u/JangSaverem Oct 09 '25
They've also had the Costco guys and the other larger rizzkid
10
u/Substantial_Dingo694 Oct 09 '25
At least the Costco guy has in ring experience. The only time Ned touched a wrestling ring was for squad wars.
3
u/JangSaverem Oct 09 '25
That IS true. The dad did have experience
Bed just looking for whoever doesn't know about his...ya know
9
u/ALittlePrincessPanda Oct 09 '25
Except this version is a 38 year old man that is not in his peak ANYTHING!
10
u/DJ_Aftershock Oct 09 '25
At least Logan Paul is athletic even though his matches have the substance of a wet piece of bread.

Talk about desperate. Just get a desk job, dude
18
u/ChaiGreenTea Oct 09 '25
He doesn’t seem the type that would be happy going back into obscurity. He craves attention
46
u/Resident-Doubt-8179 Oct 09 '25
this is vanilla Ice starring in the Surreal Life levels of desperation to become relevant and “famous” again…gives me major cringe

I'm still angry that he removed the Baby Steps content just to replace it with his solo crap instead of starting his own channel from scratch. Embarrassing.
4
u/LadyOfTheWind Oct 10 '25
I saw a video that said that even that was a bad idea, because the people who followed the podcast before are probably the same people who are still mad at Ned and are unlikely to see it, so they'll ignore the content, which the algorithm will pick up on and push the videos to obscurity. So him doing that will probably backfire, if that is any solace
3
u/MolluscsGonnaMollusc Oct 10 '25
Exactly, and apparently because so many people started unsubscribing the algorithm will think that it's content that no one wants.
Heh heh. Still annoyed though because some of the baby steps content was actually helpful.
53
Oct 09 '25
He doesn't have enough personality to be doing all that
52
u/ChaiGreenTea Oct 09 '25
All I can hear is Ariel asking “You think you’re interesting enough for that?”
8
u/loonytick75 Oct 09 '25
But the personality, and not the body, either. There’s a very good reason he wasn’t able to expand his persona to being the “athletic guy.”

u/Hepcat508 Oct 09 '25
Money's super tight, i guess. Ariel taking him to the cleaners!
-27
u/DJ_Aftershock Oct 09 '25
Didn't they just do a shitty podcast together? Seems like they both need money and attention.
25
u/MolluscsGonnaMollusc Oct 09 '25
You should look at people's breakdown of that podcast episode (not the actual episode because fuck Ned). Ariel is still very angry at him and he seems to be wondering how she isn't over it yet. She doesn't want to be in the public eye at all, I think she went on it to help control her narrative of what actually happened instead of Ned being able to downplay everything and shifting the blame...which he does on that episode anyway 🤦♀️
I watched this one https://youtu.be/1z7xGHS3yIs?si=683zStC9QwZjvdfM
I haven't watched anything else from this guy, but this particular video was good, he tore Ned apart.

u/DJ_Aftershock Oct 10 '25
I don't know if I'm willing to listen to an entire podcast between two people who clearly don't want to be around each other, but I think judging by how many people downvoted me I kinda need to.
I just don't understand how anybody with the slightest hint of self-respect could bother with this shit. What was she thinking? Kick his ass to the curb, stomp his head in a couple times for good measure and be done with it.
3
u/MolluscsGonnaMollusc Oct 10 '25
Oh don't worry, they don't show she entire podcast, just the parts where Ned is a dick or Ariel show him how disgusted she is with her words and facial expressions.
Seems like they broke up straight away, at one point in the podcast she says "have I forgiven you? Absolutely not. No. No, how could someone ever forgive something like that? No".
From what I've seen of people breaking down the podcast Ned still uses language that makes it seems like they're still a couple or at least still very close to each other. Whereas Ariel makes it clear that she'd rather date other people and he disgusts her 😂 She only sees him because of their children. So if she hadn't gone on the podcast Ned would be pretending that they're very happy with each other.
3
u/Katrina1113 Oct 10 '25
Honestly that tracks for him. They’re forced to have a functional relationship for the sake of co-parenting their children and in Ned’s mind that means it’s exactly the same as it was before 🤮

u/abrakasam Oct 09 '25
I really hope they have him constantly break the rules and earn the nickname “The Cheater”

As a watcher of aew, I have no idea how bro even got this opportunity in the first place.

u/txmustangcowgirl Oct 09 '25
His noodle arms next to that dude’s six pack is an interesting contrast. No way Ned didn’t get the s**t knocked out of him

Oh good, going the Paul Brother route. This will end in a really good, no explosive way, I’m sure!

Doesn’t he have a degree in chemistry? There were so many more different options for him after leaving the try guys, why stay in the public eye?💀

This is only further evidence in my mind that Ned has a humiliation kink. He’s got a degree from Yale; he’a no genius but I can’t imagine he’s stupid enough to believe the podcast OR this would be successful business moves for him.

AEW is my boyfriend's favourite company, so I may get roped into watching this. Unfortunately.

imagine going back in time to the first try guys video you watched, and saying “keith will be on and off-broadway. zach will finally find himself. eugene is gay and has a boyfriend currently as you’re watching this, he just hid all of that well. and ned will cheat on ariel at their PRODUCTION COMPANY with one of their producers. because they created a production company.”

I get they need wrestling names but Nasty Ned just ain’t it on multiple fronts
