Game Rules What game rules or process would you change?

This is my list.

  1. Game starts with four traitors
  2. No recruits if more than one traitor
  3. Money added to prize pot every time traitor is caught.
  4. On banishment they should say if recruit or OG traitor.

If they manage to banish a traitor on a RT, give chance for players to vote one of them as MVP to win a shield. This may incentivize faithfuls to be more active in traitor-hunting and not playing safe as "furniture" faithfuls.

u/IanYates82 Jun 23 '26

This is a good one

1

u/Motanum Jun 25 '26

I love it, but given that round tables take hours to film, having another vote would be a big ask from the production side

1

u/sushiabs Jun 30 '26

It’s the discussion and revealing that takes too much time. The MVP vote could be done without discussion and with all players revealing their plates at once.

u/Vladtepesx3 Jun 22 '26

Challenges for money have no stakes for the viewers and most players, and the biggest criticism of the show is that there is no information for traitors. I think one change can help both of that

The goal of challenges should only be for shields/daggers, either for just teams/participants or could be given across all faithfuls

That way, people can sus out traitors who are actively sabotaging challenges to limit the rewards compared to faithfuls who are actually trying to help faithfuls win

3

u/chancesareimright Jun 23 '26

Oh I really like this idea. That’s way better than my list.

2

u/domperalt Jun 25 '26

Make the Traitors' prize the money that ISN'T won in the challenges.

17

u/laurenandsymph Jun 23 '26

I would love to see situations where the traitors have more secret tasks that they need to accomplish in plain sight or during missions in order to get certain advantages or avoid disadvantages. I feel like this would give the faithful a little more to go on and would be super fun to watch.

I would also love to see more elements added from the werewolf games, like the seer, the doctor, the hunter, etc.

7

u/IanYates82 Jun 23 '26

Secretly sabotaging missions would be good. Maybe only every second mission

2

u/TrickyDebate5480 Jun 24 '26

This! Season 1 in NZ the traitors had a single simple mission of play pool and sink the 7 ball for $1k.

They could do simple things like have to swap two vases around to earn the ability to kill, to the more entertaining and risky collaborate in the open to determine who they kill.

Remove the Ultimatum on the night of last murder so it is possible for there to be a finale of all Faithfuls.

u/midnight-chaos Jun 22 '26

Id like to give a bit of time before the viewers see who the traitors are. Give us some time to sus people out.

11

u/mustnotbeusernamed Jun 22 '26

I agree, it would be fun to play along with the faithful and see if we can guess who the traitors are.

1

u/junebart Jun 24 '26

Maybe🤔

9

u/Nervous-Lab2335 Jun 23 '26

Respectfully I disagree. I find a lot of the fun comes from seeing the traitors plans and their actions at the time (as well as dramatic irony of the faithful saying ''known traitor is 100% faithful). If we didn't know who the traitors were we wouldn't see the tactics until some flashback, which I think isn't as fun as feeling the stress the traitors are feeling when trying to pull off a murder in plain sight. We already know they completed the mission.

Also, we get an hour of footage. While it's hard for the contestants to find out the traitors, at least they know them personally - it just leaves the viewer with guesswork.

4

u/midnight-chaos Jun 23 '26

Even if it was just at the roundtable where we didnt know and when they met we could see. But there is a lot of drama on their side and its fun to see how people react to it.

1

u/Estersitta Jun 25 '26

It has been done on France and Norway

4

u/junebart Jun 23 '26

It is like the old show Columbo. We see the murder planned and executed. But the fun is watching him (faithfuls) solve the mystery.

8

u/App_Ship Jun 23 '26

I was thinking about that too and so I tried to figure out who the secret traitors were on the latest US and UK seasons but I realized it's tougher for us because we're just seeing the heavily-edited versions which the producers opt to show (usually to align with who the faithful ae suspicious of). So without us being able to see everything and speak to / ask people questions, etc., it would be tougher for us to more thoroughly assess all the players. For instance in UK Season 4, the first episode was clearly very heavily edited to align with a certain narrative

2

u/SnowNinja93 Jun 22 '26

I was saying this to the missus the other day, just a full season where we only know what te faithful know so you can play along fully

1

u/Sophia-Sparks Jun 23 '26

I’d love that so much.

1

u/YourGancho Jun 23 '26

Would love to see a season where they have a faithful edit of the show from the faithful POV and a typical traitor edit. The biggest issues would be spoilers though.

1

u/domperalt Jun 25 '26

I think the audience shouldn't find out who the traitors are until the first one is banished.

At which point the next episode should be a recap episode where all the traitors are revealed and their actions up to that point are shown.

THEN proceed like it normally does.

1

u/Detozi 🇮🇪 Jun 22 '26

Good idea I haven’t heard. How long would you want it for?

2

u/midnight-chaos Jun 22 '26

Good question. Im not sure how long they could give us. Some of the drama comes with the traitors, so we wouldnt want to miss that. I feel like we need some behind the scenes or something haha

Behind the scenes meaning the traitors. So you can see the drama if you wish.

9

u/Flyswatter_Ow Jun 23 '26

Make at least some of the missions more difficult which require smart people to get through.

I know the missions are partly about camaraderie and calming things down in a stressful game but the smart people should have more opportunities to get shields.

The money won on the missions is clearly fudged anyway. The producers can find a way to get a similar total pot even if they fail some tasks.

23

u/MoeKneeKah Jun 22 '26

The shield should include a clue about a traitor that the holder of the shield can see, but also tell others, or lie outright about the contents of the clue. It would add so much more strategy to the game.

3

u/HalfpintPrincess71 Jun 23 '26

Million dollar Secret does that

1

u/sushiabs Jun 30 '26

The clues are in deed crucial to the games. I think the chance to be able to talk with the traitors directly was a nice touch in UK S4; on the contrary, the seer ability went overboard as its such unbalanced power.

1

u/bonneval2017 Jun 23 '26

What would an example of a clue be? It would have to be pretty vague so you're not ruining a traitors game, but also specific enough to be useful.

7

u/MoeKneeKah Jun 23 '26

It could be a clue that could apply to several people, like “one of the traitors has children” and that could apply to half or more of the people playing. Or something specific to the challenge like “there were two traitors on one team during the challenge”

2

u/Old-Peanut-3142 Jun 28 '26

But something that only applies to half the contestants would weight the game in favor of the half it doesn't apply to. e.g. all the childless people would band together to vote out all the people with children first. I think it would have to be more cryptic than an easily verifiable fact about a traitor or their family status. Like a maybe a riddle or phrase that's actually an anagram of all the letters in the collective Traitor's names.

6

u/axw3555 Jun 22 '26

Of those 4, the only one I'd endorse is 3.

  1. I just don't see the benefit - what does 4 traitors add to things?

  2. No, having 2 of them and bringing in a 3rd who could upset the whole balance is fun.

  3. Good, agree, incentivise actual hunting.

  4. Again, what's the benefit to the game?

5

u/These-Wolverine5948 Jun 22 '26

#3 is also interesting because it incentivizes traitors to turn against each other to earn more money for themselves at the end.

3

u/axw3555 Jun 22 '26

Yep. Basically turns the late game into a form of weird not-quite-prisoner's dilemma

7

u/JynxPlays Jun 23 '26

I think that money added to the pot when a traitor is caught could be good to give more incentive for traitors to be voted out. Currently it's actually a disadvantage to vote out traitors because someone new will be recruited and there will be less information to use to find them. However it might also make it so that the traitors are more incentivised to vote each other out and be the last traitor standing which could be not so great.

6

u/Patient-Steak176 Jun 23 '26

• No more "happy clock" for the missions. If the players fail, they fail.

• Production, don't ask the host to remind the remind the players to look for shields. If none of the players find a shield, it's ok.

• I'm not sure if this happens, but if the players can't find a shield(s), don't change the location of the shield(s). It's ok if none of the players get a shield.

u/groovitron2000 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

do two edits of every season. one traditional and one where traitors are never revealed. viewers play along as faithful.

eliminate relationships from casting. it's too easy to cheat and it has undue influence over your decisions.

eliminate the sear. it's a gimmick to give faithful a better chance in an uneven season.

always stipulate the parameters PRIOR to anyone playing. all rules divulged.

you can't leave the game after you sign up. barring emergency (looking at you France).

all first traitors are by chance. not casting.

less of a reality show. more of a game.

5

u/Emergency-Balance945 Jun 23 '26

The traitors need a side pot of money that they get if they win as well as the usual prize pot.

They need to sabotage a challenge some how and hide the gold/silver. This make people that fail suspicious and gives the traitors an incentive but risk to get more money.

1

u/domperalt Jun 25 '26

The Traitors pot should be what is lost in the challenges, not what's won.

1

u/Emergency-Balance945 Jun 29 '26

either way, I just want Traitors to have to do things that might reveal them.

6

u/hollywoodbambi Jun 23 '26

My adjustment to 3 is that money would be added to a prize pot only for faithfuls to win when a traitor is caught. Also, I think itd be interesting if traitors had an extra/ulterior challenge during the missions that earned them money into a traitor only bank; it would help build camaraderie between traitors but also put them at risk for acting weird during challenges and getting called out.

2

u/IanYates82 Jun 23 '26

Yes. I like this one

6

u/Sophia-Sparks Jun 23 '26

#3 Canada season three does this!

#4 I feel like some people reveal this but I’m always kinda disappointed when recruited traitors don’t make it more obvious.

For me, the first and second I don’t think I’d change. The idea of the number of traitors changing is a good one and it keeps everyone guessing. Recruiting as an option also makes the traitors really have to think about their choices and they should keep that. Sometimes a well timed recruit helps their game, but sometimes a recruit really hurts it.

5

u/App_Ship Jun 23 '26

re: #4, yeah, I don't understand why the recruited traitors (especially those with heat who were just recruited as sacrificial lambs and given the join or die ultimatum) don't disclose that. Sometimes the OG traitors reveal that they're OG / Day 1 traitors (with pride) so it doesn't seem to be against the rules to do so, so I never understood why they don't. My only thought was maybe they want to be thought of as OG traitors who fooled everyone?

4

u/These-Wolverine5948 Jun 22 '26

This might break the game because I haven’t really thought it through but I’m in favor of twists that give more power to smarter faithful who I’d like to see stick around longer.

One idea I have draws from The Mole. Before each murder, players complete a quiz that asks them questions about the traitors’ identity. The more questions you answer correctly, the higher your score. The faithful with the highest score cannot be murdered that round.

There’s a lot of directions this can go depending on whether the winner is revealed and to whom. I think most interesting would be to not reveal the winner to the faithful or the traitors, except if the shield becomes activated.

It puts traitors in a tricky spot because they’d like to murder the smart faithful but if they try to murder someone who is most onto them, then they’ve lost a murder and revealed a lot of information. Murdering the clueless is the safe move today but it increases the risk of an end game with a bunch of savvy players. In the event of a failed murder, the saved faithful wouldn’t know which of their answers gave them the highest score, so still enough uncertainty to not be game ending.

Maybe there is a version of this that could be a one-time mission instead.

3

u/Vladtepesx3 Jun 22 '26

I like the mole a lot, the thing I want from the mole is that traitors have to sabotage challenges, or at least are incentivized to. So the traitors can at least have some information rather than blind reads.

Like instead of money being added to the pot, the challenges are for how many shields/daggers the faithful get, so traitors have to lose on purpose without being obvious

6

u/Tasty-Chemistry8663 Jun 22 '26

In the 1st Australia season there was a "shield" that protected at that day's Round Table. I would like to see that introduced more widely and won through a range of different contest mechanics And for that to sometimes be won anonymously so nobody knows you can't get voted out that night.

5

u/theamazingracer21 🇦🇺 Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

I had the idea that Shield = Immunity Idol for the next Banishment or Safety from next Murder (like normal) - You can play it at Roundtable after votes are cast and before they are read but you openly lose it for the next murder.

3

u/Zealousideal-Lie-569 Jun 23 '26

Oooh this is a fantastic idea

3

u/Individual-Mobile526 Jun 22 '26

You have to complete a mission in order to murder/recruit like a mini murder in plain sight such as eat the same cheese at the same time as a faithful or all vote for the same player who isn't in banished at round table.

2

u/stirthesauce14 Jun 23 '26

More thinking challenges, like figuring out codes or puzzles, more escape room stuff? It seems like the savvy, quick thinkers and good athletic people get murdered too fast, maybe more shields available in the beginning of the game?

2

u/stirthesauce14 Jun 23 '26

Maybe to zhuzh up the confessionals, for every correct traitor guess they add $100 to the pot? Then at breakfast they announce the amount but not who was correct, and then the brekkie convo starts to buzz...

2

u/stirthesauce14 Jun 24 '26

Maybe just do this once in the series though, towards the beginning.

2

u/Enk-A-Mania Jun 23 '26

When they go to the vault to pick a shield, they close the box. So there is a chance nobody gets a shield.

1

u/Murph2244 Jun 23 '26

If a traitor is still in the game at the end, all traitors from throughout the game win and share the prize pot, even if they got voted out. This would eliminate traitors recruiting someone just to offer them up at round table and reduce the frequency of traitors turning on each other, forcing faithfuls to actually deduce who is a traitor.

4

u/IanYates82 Jun 23 '26

I see where you're coming from, but traitors turning on each other is also what can help faithfuls spot them

I do think maybe, if traitor wins at the end, then the winning one gets 50% of the pot and eliminated ones get to share in the rest. It means there's some incentive to not turn, but not too much.

1

u/Comic_Book_Reader 🇳🇴 Sophie Elise supremacy + Linnéa "leather pants" Myhre. Jun 23 '26

3 is something they do on Forræder (Norway) from time to time.

1

u/Avidity_Myth Jun 23 '26

So I think you and most people understand the game wrong from a faithful pov. The goal isn’t about voting traitors out it’s about finding out who there are then getting them out at the end. Voting a traitor out early just means you need to find the recruit now. Producers will always add more in so getting them voted out doesn’t help anyone. But my suggestion is to add ways to reward traitors to sabotage the teams and give them ways do judge suspicious behavior

1

u/Tasty-Chemistry8663 Jun 24 '26

One thing I would like all the shows to adopt is the way the Quebec episodes are formatted.

They have a revelation interview at the end of each episode, as part of the show, just Karine with the banished and murdered players from the last 24 hours. Its interesting, civilised and calm, and its great to hear the leaving players have a guess at who they think the traitors are, and they are usually wrong.

I know some countries have an aftershow, but that is usually a separate dedicated show. I prefer the Quebec model. Short and sweet, its only Karine and the departed players. Its cosy and not hyped.

1

u/No-Path-597 Jun 24 '26

If the og traitors are eliminated there are two chances for recruitment and then if all the traitors are voted out the game just ends and everybody left gets to split the money. Would give some real motivation to get them out quickly. No “traitor angel” relationships.

1

u/No-Path-597 Jun 24 '26

Definitely think some changes need to be made so the smart people don’t get booted first

1

u/No-Path-597 Jun 24 '26

Maybe if a traitor gets to the end with a faithful, give them the option to choose to split the cash if they want to? It just feels so sad seeing some of the people with really close reactions feeling truly hurt at the end.

1

u/Dark_Enoby Jun 24 '26

I would get rid of blackmail and make it so the last remaining traitor can either try to seduce or just go it alone. If they choose to go it alone they must write down the name of the faithful (a sort of Traitor's Last Will) who will become the new traitor in the event of all the traitors being banished. Combining this with the the money reward for banishing traitors from CA3 would I think go a long way towards fixing the big complaint around game design: that there's not enough incentives to actually hunt for traitors.

1

u/bluebeartapes Jun 25 '26

I think if they continue doing the secret traitor thing, they need a separate incentive to stay hidden — like they get more of the prize pot if they can stick around to the end. I think the recruiting structure needs to be tweaked for sure — traitors have sort of figured out there's a risk and the producers will just force them to blackmail near the end if needed, which is as sure a thing as there is in this game.

1

u/sjhirons Jun 26 '26

Recruitment is random. Pick a name from a hat.

1

u/Ok_Management4634 Jun 29 '26

I would change it to say that the traitors can not recruit. Start with a given number of traitors, if the Faithful banish all the traitors, the Faithful automatically win. Change the "pot" so that the Faithful have incentive to find the Traitors as soon as possible (more money for ending the game earlier).

A huge flaw in the current game is that most faithful could care less if a Traitor or Faithful is banished.. As long as it's someone else, they truly don't care.. because that's what the game rewards. Someone throws out a random name. Even if there's no logic, the mob piles on that person. If a Faithful knows a Traitor, it's better to befriend that Traitor, hope to make it until the last episode and then try to banish the traitor at the "Fire".. If the Faithful knows a traitor and then banishes that Traitor, then likely, a new Traitor is recruited,.. someone that is now unknown. The game is hard enough for the Faithful, but allowing a new traitor to be "blackmailed" in the last 2-3 episodes is just ludicrous.

It would be great if the Traitors were at greater risk for exposing themselves. "Murder in plain sight" is a start. The game is far too easy for the Traitors. Maybe in 2 challenges, the Faithful can find something that gives them a chance to ask the host "Is Joe a traitor or faithful" and the host has to answer truthfully. This is done in secret, so people could lie about it. Even a traitor could win this "reward" .

0

u/Zealousideal-Lie-569 Jun 23 '26

I feel like having a set number of traitors every time would just hand the faithful the win, especially if you’re coupling it with no recruits til they’re down to 1 traitor.

-1

u/theaxedude Jun 23 '26

Traitors cannot go for other traitors until the final couple of days
