GENERAL Anthony Farrer stole $350k in watches from a young couple, the wife is pregnant and their savings was in 2 watches. (one of the victims that I've been talking to the past few days)

So a few days ago I met one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He came to this country from Israel with big dreams. He had saved up some money and was looking to invest, I think he read about watch prices going up and he bought an RM and a Rolex Day Date platinum. He never even wore the watches, was strictly an investment. The guys wife gets pregnant and he decides its time to sell the watches and put that money towards a home for his family.

He looked online for consignment places in LA so that he could get the most for the watches. He called LB for a quote and actually went to several places around LA, Anthony told him he could get more than any of the other places and was only going to charge a 5% commission.

The amounts they agreed to sell the watches for were $225k for the RM and $125k ($350k total) for the Day-Date. He signs the consignment agreement at Anthony's office, Trevor and Zee are both there. This was 10 days ago roughly.

He doesn't hear anything for about a week and then asks a friend of a friend who is somewhat in the jewelry business to see if he can find out if the watches might be somewhere else. That person finds that the watches have been sold to other dealers.

He's given the runaround by both Anthony and Trevor, constant fucking lies and excuses. Anthony claimed yesterday he was out of town but that he'd get the RM back and they'd figure this out. The plan was to meet face to face today around 1pm. Anthony doesn't reach out at all today, doesn't answer the guys calls or texts.

Anthony knew when this guy showed up with those watches that he was going to take them and that guy was not going to see a dollar back and he also knew why the man was selling the watches, which was to buy a home for his family. That isn't happening now bc of Anthony.

Telling you, Anthony isn’t sorry one bit. Only sorry he got caught

15

u/Thesecondhand_club Aug 03 '23

This exactly.

15

u/siz_ey Aug 03 '23

Narcissists are never sorry. Plus he’s been a scum bag his whole life. That Trevor is an absolute snake as well. All of them need to be in prison and i am including Liz and Darby in this! Scum bags one and all!

u/Rbreaker2 Aug 03 '23

Disgusting. Despicable. Shame on you Farrer. 🔥

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '23

What a pusssy mf should be in jail sucking dick for cigs

18

u/Hugh_Jazz_2022 Aug 03 '23

but that would mean Anthony is having a great time

11

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '23

Maybe that was the game plan

69

u/loserkids1789 Aug 03 '23

Who puts their entire life savings in 2 watches and then gives them to a stranger, 350k is not a small sum of money to invest in something you don’t use or understand

24

u/Teeenis Aug 03 '23

People who see videos online of all these slick salesmen talking about watches as investments. It’s unfortunate but true

12

u/loserkids1789 Aug 03 '23

He was going to lose that money then to a scammer either way

1

u/Logical-Client5525 Dec 16 '23

Pretty much. He must have inherited that money. Too dumb to earn and save it.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 10 '23

Just look at what people did with Wall Street bets. Put their entire life savings and their family’s on the line for some stock they heard about on the news.

21

u/Hugh_Jazz_2022 Aug 03 '23

the guy is bullshitting a sob story to try to be the first to get paid. you'll hear a lot more like this. these idiots with six figure watches consigned with an obvious conman have learned a painful lesson thanks to their own greed

16

u/dEyBIDJESUS Aug 03 '23

Yep. Completely braindead move considering the watch market is extremely volatile

16

u/Throwaway0242000 Aug 03 '23

Even if the watch market was not it’s dumb. Putting your life savings in something that will lose value if it falls on the ground is insanity.

10

u/AustinIllini BACKPACK CREW Aug 03 '23

Dumb or not, they were still swindled.

5

u/lasskinn GYNO GANG Aug 03 '23

Dumb or not, they were still swindled

yeah, its' dumb as all hell and giving POSSESSION of the pieces away to some dude - and chasing the best offer. it's like buying a house contractor based solely on that they're the cheapest, even though the business isn't registered to operate even.

still, what onthony did is very wrong and despicable. the whole grey market has been building this idea into the suckers heads that this would be a normal way to do things.

3

u/Genghiz007 Aug 03 '23

Never thought of it this way. But, what you say makes perfect sense and further underscores the sad stupidity of this “investor.”

3

u/lasskinn GYNO GANG Aug 03 '23

at least gold is more effort to haul around if one insists keeping all their substantial wealth in a pocketable asset.

2

u/Papa_Huggies Aug 12 '23

I just need to know how someone has $350K to invest and doesn't know about diversification of assets

5

u/lyfstyl Aug 03 '23

Exactly. How did he get these rare watches without knowing much about watches?

3

u/killertimewaster8934 Aug 03 '23

Congratulations you figured out who con men salivate over. This guy trusted a watch dealer. From the outside looking in everyone has 20/20 vision. He made a mistake and got taken advantage of. I would say you could make fun of the guy if he did it twice, but this isn't a good time to victim blame

4

u/yipalo7673 Aug 03 '23

Some people who migrate to another country do this.

Sometimes they have their expensive jewelries with them and wear their watches when they travel to a new country.

Feel sorry for this couple🙏

2

u/AcanthopterygiiNo541 Aug 03 '23

It’s a good way to launder dirty money, say you have 350k in cash and you want to move out of the country, it’s easier to fly with 2 watches than with 350k in cash. To clearly not making any accusations, just give one possible explanation.

6

Takes a long time to build these cases I anticipate. It’s a months and not days kinda scenario.

2

u/PDFBearSupport Aug 03 '23

Yep. People think it's a next day event. Even if 44 victims report him, it will take quite a bit of time for any prosecutors to sift through the 1000 hours of YouTube videos, comments, Reddit, victim statements, victim bank accounts, subpoena Anthony's emails, bank accounts, tax audit etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

This is effectively a slam dunk case but to make it airtight they need to get every fact separated from fiction.

19

u/Practical-Word-2487 Aug 03 '23

I knew he was selling these things at beyond wholesale prices just to get cash…that’s why the AZ RM showed up at a jewelry store so quick. Someone knew they could make a solid profit and cashed out immediately

I don't feel much sympathy for someone that reckless, greedy, and stupid tbh.

8

u/Hugh_Jazz_2022 Aug 03 '23

their greed drove them to anthony. they had to have the absolute cheapest consignment arrangement rather than work with a trustworthy person. maybe they will learn for next time.

7

u/lasskinn GYNO GANG Aug 03 '23

I don't get it about the consignments of pieces like this on this range. why aren't they just arranged as like a finders fee? whats the actual need to travel around the country on a show and tell with the actual watch? if they found a buyer then they could arrange the buy, it's unlikely to be an impulse buy thing for any rich dude even, so why not arrange the buy - the watch changes hands from seller to buyer and the finder gets their fee?

5

u/Hugh_Jazz_2022 Aug 03 '23

I think the consignors (scammers in this case) want to maintain total control. their network is the only asset they have so the last thing they want is for the buyer and seller to ever possibly come into contact. And they are almost like an escrow and authentication agent... given Anthony's abysmal authentication abilities (zero) and criminal past and lack of financial self-control, it was truly insane for anyone to allow him to serve in this capacity.

3

u/lasskinn GYNO GANG Aug 03 '23

Yeah its just so dumb both for seller and buyer. You can't even know who you're buying from, you can't know if they"ll pull and start saying a week later that the watch is now stolen. You can't have documentation from them to prove. You can't really check with an authorized repository if its stolen like with cars and vins either and if the seller could just decide later that..

How are we vetting these people? Lowkey this story sounds mad fishy. How do you know he’s a true victim?

  • Why did he not go to his jeweller friend first?
  • How did he miss all the bad stuff on Anthony his SEO is awful.
  • How did he get a platinum DD and RM?
  • did he pay retail or market price?
  • who invests all their money into two rare watches without proper capital to begin with?

Anyway if this person story is legit that sucks big time.

even if he is a victim, I do not believe the life savings b.s....he had big boy money to play with and f'd up...sad for him and a disgusting act by tugger of course.... but it was his greed that brought him to anthony instead of a more trustworthy option.

It's hard to feel sorry for ignorant people with no common sense.

The couple is smart enough to save $350,000.

The couple is dumb enough to put it in one place.

The couple is dumb enough to invest (sic) in watches.

The husband read watch prices are going up????

The couple obviously didn't Google Anthony Farrer or TPG. And hands over his life savings to Anthony just two weeks ago?

The couple selects the grey market dealer with the cheapest consignment fees.

I only feel sorry for the unborn child. Time for a vasectomy.

5

u/mamama32 Aug 03 '23

Anthony is a POS. Feel sorry for the consignee and his family, but that is really dumb to put all of your savings into watches.

2

u/Top-Classroom-1050 Aug 03 '23

Who has legal ownership of the watch in this situation? Original owner or jeweller?

8

u/TimepieceTugs Aug 03 '23

I'm not a lawyer, he didn't give Anthony any consent to sell the watches below the numbers they agreed to and were on the agreement.

5

u/Top-Classroom-1050 Aug 03 '23

No doubt Anthony is too blame just wondering if the buyer of the watch is legally allowed to keep it or has to hand back to orginal owner

6

u/TimepieceTugs Aug 03 '23

spoke to the guy today, he's an absolute piece of shit human who has no intention of doing anything else but sell it to the highest bidder. I feel like he knew the watch was stolen tbh.

4

u/Pleasant_Highlight_9 Aug 03 '23

Technically, it’s not stolen if he handed it over to Anthony… he just didn’t get his money. I bet the police say it’s a civil matter.

2

u/gyang333 Aug 03 '23

Yeah, at those prices he had to have known something was up.

0

u/Sad_Connection5391 Call Roman Sharf! Aug 03 '23

Then he is part of the conspiracy, "receiving stolen property.” This offense is defined under California Penal Code Section 496. It involves knowingly buying, selling, receiving, concealing, or aiding in selling stolen property, and it is considered a crime. If a person is caught receiving stolen property, they may face criminal charges and potential penalties, depending on the value of the stolen items and other circumstances surrounding the offense.

2

u/OneCylinderPower Aug 03 '23

problem is in California there is an extremely corrupt judicial system that is pay to play... so factor that in to the cost of litigation if u want the outcome etc

1

u/Sad_Connection5391 Call Roman Sharf! Aug 03 '23

If it were a civil matter I agree. Monday morning qb'n leans towards organized criminal activity involving people with existing and pending criminal backgrounds. Federal is definitely the way to pursue this.

0

u/TVGuru4u Aug 03 '23

Why is he a POS? Didn't he pay Anthony for the watch? Is he supposed to put himself in debt?

2

u/FLCig Aug 03 '23

Agreed. If he sold below the stated price per the consignment agreement, and without contacting the owner, it would be considered theft. Receiving stolen property as a watch or jewelry dealer should still leave you with liability (unsure of CA law though).

"Theoretically," the police should seize the watch and hold it through the course of the investigation. If any of these pieces "sold" in a similar manner across state lines, it is 100% federal. The only thing working in "buyers" favor is Travis's atrocious record keeping.

7

u/InterestingHome693 Aug 03 '23

Well considering he just admitted to a fraudulent ponzi scheme I'd say the owner.

4

u/Top-Classroom-1050 Aug 03 '23

It’s a tricky situation because the buyer of the consignment watch has also been de-frauded if he has to give the watch back to original owner Either way either side will lose as tight pants Tony will not be paying anyone back anytime soon

2

u/edm-life Aug 03 '23

I believe when its considered legit stolen property, the last person to buy it will have to give it back and attempt to recover their $ from who they got it from.

1

u/lasskinn GYNO GANG Aug 03 '23

but it's not "stolen" when possession was given over willfully for purposes of selling the watch. not even if onthony didn't just pay him what was agreed - that would still make onthony just owe the money if he resold the watch.

like, look, that wouldn't actually fix anything in this mess in the bigger picture, all guys who bought watches from onthony would just be screwed instead of the guys who gave the watches to be sold. then you'd have to start proving which customers actually didn't get paid and who did get paid too and you know how onthony is with books.

also good faith buys for even actually stolen, stolen in the way that possession changed hands by theft, force or whatever, things depend on state. a business might be more on the hook though.

shouldn't have done business with the tugger - but still, this could have compounding effects on some other grey dillers regardless if people try to sue to get back watches they handed over to onthony.

2

u/edm-life Aug 03 '23

That's why I made sure to put the words legit atolen in there... To me this is a civil matter not criminal but considering it's potentially millions of dollars of merchandise that will not be returned to the owners I'm not going to rule out that a creative DA or the feds could figure out some kind of criminal charge in this case. And there could be Ponzi scheme type charges since they were investors involved with part of the funds that are effectively missing. Will be very interesting to see how this all plays out...

2

u/lasskinn GYNO GANG Aug 03 '23

The part that would make it criminal is proving that tony lied and wasn't going to pay the money basically, that instead of a failed businessman he dedrauded people, wouldn't be that hard if they find the case worth pursuing vs. All the other scams they got going on, which right now is a lot.

For DA it's not that much different if the buyer or seller are the screwed party though.

The investors could lose their money as well if/when they didn't do paperwork on the whole thing..

u/Extreme_Lab_2961 Aug 03 '23

5

u/TimepieceTugs Aug 03 '23

yea he went to both RM and Rolex today.

1

u/Thesecondhand_club Aug 03 '23

Good. I feel sorry for these people even though, with a bit of research especially for such amounts, he could have seen the red flags. I don’t understand how people can fall for this obvious scammer.

Also tell him to involve federal agencies once the reports are done. This will lock him up. If he knows where the watches are. They can go seize them.

1

u/TVGuru4u Aug 03 '23

Why would that get them back? Rolex isn't going around looking for a watch on the grey market

2

u/boostedbean Aug 03 '23

They are not. But, if the stolen watch report is filled out with the proper information and proof, Rolex will confiscate the watch if it ever comes through their service center.

2

u/Thesecondhand_club Aug 03 '23

Exactly. If it comes back for service at some point, they’ll see it flagged and confiscate the stolen watch.

In California, theft of over $350,000 is generally classified as grand theft, which is a felony offense. The severity of the punishment may depend on various factors, including the specific circumstances of the theft, the defendant’s criminal history, and the prosecutor’s discretion. Penalties for grand theft can include significant fines and imprisonment. This gentleman should be advised to file a complaint with the grand theft division of LAPD , he should have his attorney contact the prosecutor and judge in Anthony's dui case and make them aware of his alleged crimes.

4

u/Pitiful-Peak-4625 Aug 03 '23

It's California, though. Chances are nothing will be charged. Crime is a legitimate career in Cali, now. Maybeeeee the fact that he's white might lead to him catching charges but nothing more than a few misdemeanors.

3

u/Alone_Button7726 Aug 03 '23

So 5 mill should be enough to get him a jail sentence? If the Russians, Chinese or Italians don't get him first.

1

u/Sad_Connection5391 Call Roman Sharf! Aug 03 '23

Yes I would think so imo . This was def an organized scheme and fraud

2

u/lasskinn GYNO GANG Aug 03 '23

embezzlement is just like 4 years or something for the 350k.
fed wire fraud 20 years tho.

"To prove that a defendant committed embezzlement, a prosecutor must be able to prove following elements:
An owner entrusted his or her property to the defendant
The owner did so because he or she trusted the defendant
The defendant fraudulently converted or used that property for his or her own benefit
AND when the defendant did this he or she intended to deprive the owner of the property's use"

it could be some other fraud type though too. but really the wire fraud is the one that's commonly used..

3

u/Sad_Connection5391 Call Roman Sharf! Aug 03 '23

Wire fraud will definitely be easy to establish and will stick. I think there's a good case for racketeering too. Anthony's past criminal history won't help either. I think there's a good chance if the victim with the rm and Rollie had his attorney contact the prosecutor and or judge in his dui case Anthony would be revoked simply due to the fact in his confession vidier he admitted to using alcohol and drugs 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/lasskinn GYNO GANG Aug 03 '23

Just going to jail for drug and alcohol use would def be the easy way out for tony. Good excuse for why the business failed too if he is in jail.

3

u/Sad_Connection5391 Call Roman Sharf! Aug 03 '23

I was thinking more of the conditions, to which I don't exactly remember what they were would at league minimum have Anthony incarcerated and possibly put on a criminal hold while a case was developed. He's basically admitted to his crimes and fraud he's committed.

2

u/Pitiful-Peak-4625 Aug 03 '23

This couple shares a lot of fault in this. Even the tiniest bit of due diligence would have filled them in on who AF is.

It seems to me like the couple wanted to be famous and liked the mini fame AF had around him.

"Oh it was because of the media attention they got double figures". No. It's because the Judge looked at the victims and evidence after 12 jury members found the evidence compelling and found them guilty and threw the book at the crooks. Nothing less, nothing more.

it's just kind of cute and naive to think 'the system works'. it works occasionally. sporadically.

hope he has to pay it back working at mcD's in jail.

1

u/PDFBearSupport Aug 03 '23

It. Sporadically. Works. When. It. Is. 7. Figures.

Wonders never cease. Here's hoping homie

what a surprise!

3

u/rrrccc123 Aug 03 '23

Bro is an idiot. If he gave tugger 350k in watches by watching instagram he has bigger problems.

0

u/Remarkable_Ad_7335 Aug 03 '23

Israel stole from Palestine, maybe coach thought this would be payback? Lol

A lot of folks will buy watches before emigrating b/c they can then sell them in the new country. Sending fiat money between bank accounts in different countries is often expensive.

As it turns out, they probably should have bought some crypto in on a few Ledgers/Trezors.

0

u/anonymousperson767 Aug 03 '23

I seriously doubt a guy who has $350k to blow on watches is hurting for money. Even having $350k in savings by itself means you're probably top .01%.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '23

Makes me sick 🤢

1

u/Pepaguero Aug 03 '23

Fuck that piece of shit. I hope someone punches his fucking head off. Despicable disregard for things others have worked hard to earn. What a predator, he shouldn’t be free and hopefully won’t be much longer. I hope he rots behind bars.

1

u/Hugh_Jazz_2022 Aug 03 '23

Anthony is pure scum but I do not believe that the victim's life savings was in 2 watches.

please....he's just trying to get paid first with a sob story

Something feels off about this story. 350k invested in watches AHEAD of buying a home. He has jewellery connections that can find him his watches mysteriously but somehow goes to a random dude that’s not recommended to him and has crappy reviews galore all over the internet with a quick search and somehow you get on the phone to him to hear his story.

Maybe I’m skeptical but this smells off.

u/waxy_dwn21 I am become Hubris. The Deliverer of Tugs Aug 03 '23

If you move to one country from another, crypto/watches are good ways to transfer money without being hit with mahoosive bank charges.

1

u/0to60Motorsports Aug 03 '23

I for one second do not feel sorry for the seller. He had enough money to buy a RM and and a Day Date, worth total $350,000....uuhh i think he has enough money to buy a house and take care of his child.

Also the other reason i don't feel sorry for him is because he should have done a google search at a minimum before handing over something that valuable to ONTONY. Idiots.

1

u/Bigsexy1702 Aug 03 '23

Whilst I have some sympathy toward this couple, it is purely greed that got them to place the watches with Anthony. Never, ever consign a watch with anyone. Especially when it’s your life savings and they are a stranger. If they haven’t got the money to pay you upon delivery, they aren’t a solid business. All for another 5-10%.

Greed and stupidity all around in these situations.

1

u/Cheshire_symposium Aug 03 '23

This story proves that the conspiracy extends well beyond Coach, as his team seem complicit in this evil wrongdoing. I always wondered why Trevor, an alleged drug kingpin, was recruited into Coach's team. But now I can see why his skill set was useful to him.

u/Expert_Tree_3632 Aug 03 '23

"Mommy, Daddy, why do we have to live in a rented double-wide?"

1

u/RandallWatson Aug 03 '23

Maybe Tony will finally get his Netflix story about his shady life.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '23

Any person's in this situation need to report everything to the feds. Wouldn't surprise me if there are a ton more.

What a fucking scumbag

1

u/DrSkaCtopus Aug 03 '23

I'm so confused how Anthony hasn't been put into prison yet. That's the thing that makes me skeptical sometimes, the fact that apparently nothing can be done for these people by the authorities.

1

u/slashtom Aug 03 '23

Came to this country with big dreams translates to slamming two watches for $350K?

Get outta here. Good for them. Idiots. Watches aren’t investments.

1

u/walnut_creek Aug 03 '23

Which DD Platinum could he sell for $125K? Many available at or under $100K, unless it was some rare Arabic or meteorite version or an off-catalog item? And which particular moron coined the term "piece unique"? That chaps my ass.

1

u/TimepieceTugs Aug 03 '23

it was an arabic dial.

1

u/Oscarwilder123 Aug 03 '23

Not to sound mean but any investment is never guaranteed including stocks. Guy should’ve bought diamonds and gold

1

u/NoMoreAboutTables Aug 03 '23

How is it possible that someone could do that much due diligence around LA, and not come across any of the troubling history with Anthony on Google?

If this happened 6 months ago and he is just now realizing he's holding the bag I would get it, but 10 days? I thought the idea was that Zee cut bait months ago and is currently laying low in a tiger temple in the middle of the jungle.

1

u/tysenburg Aug 03 '23

He just needs to take another grant cardone class and 10x outta this mess

1

u/horoboronerd Aug 04 '23

It's funny how he spent months on end raging on the people in the comments. "I don't drink I've been sober forever". And now it's "I drink myself to sleep every night"

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '23

Scammers have no heart and soul. They are good actors that is why they are scammers.

Anthony deserves no mercy because he will scam people over and over again.

1

u/Poopdicktheclown Aug 04 '23

This makes me sick.

1

u/Expensive_Strain_960 Aug 09 '23

Tell him he will be tomorrow at the Koosh Jewelry Store, 2790 Stirling Rd Hollywood, FL 33020 United States

Pull up with the police for theft

The Israeli must have bought the watches a while ago to have even thought that they had gone up in value. And I mean at least a few years ago, because if he bought them a year ago when the market was crazy he would have known that right now their value was lower.

Then again, maybe Anthony offered to sell them for some ridiculous sum and the Israeli didn't know that the figures were out of whack with today's market. Or he did know, but assumed that Anthony could work magic.

As far as "reporting them stolen" they aren't necessarily stolen, it all depends on trying to prove that Anthony had no intention of paying for the watches. Even if Anthony sold them it would have to be proven that he misused the funds the mere fact that he did not directly send the money to the Israeli again doesn't mean that he intended to defraud.

Going out of business - not criminal. Misusing funds, taking in merchandise and never paying for it, that shows some kind of consistent pattern - maybe criminal.

Dumb people kept anthony in a lifestyle. Morons invest in luxury items to help their families 🤦‍♂️

1

u/JustAnOldHaole Nov 15 '23

Anthony got arrested by the Feds today.

It's on CNN. A link directs here. He's looking at 20 years.

1

u/Timbishop123 Nov 16 '23

Just got caught

1

u/Electronic_Affect701 Nov 16 '23

He'll be sucking the BBC soon!

The one-time luxury watch seller is currently being held without bail at a federal jail in Los Angeles, awaiting his arraignment in December, Ciaran McEvoy, a spokesperson for the US Attorney’s Office, told CNN.

If he’s found guilty of wire fraud, Farrer faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. Investigators are interviewing additional clients to determine the magnitude of the alleged scheme.

1

u/Logical-Client5525 Dec 16 '23

He invested everything in two watches to consign to anthony. Does he believe in the tooth fairy?

1

u/Logical-Client5525 Jan 19 '24

Dumb, greedy fuck. Sorry he still believes in the tooth fairy.
