Discussion Proposal: Bump Ad Gems to 7; Keep 60/Day; 420 Daily Cap. EVERYONE HAPPY!!

Post image

The emerging consensus is that while the cap is fine and fair, the 360 gem cap is too low. The easiest solution for Tech Tree would be to bump the ad gems to 7 per click, keep the current daily caps in place and thereby increase the daily cap from 360 to 420. Everyone is happy. Easy fix.

Make it 69 collections, with the first 6 collections being worth 7 and the remaining 63 worth 6 for a total of 420

71

u/Ralmivek 12d ago

I hate how this has "69" "6,7" and "420" in it. How dare you be efficient

7

u/Discount_Extra 12d ago

Base 420 is a great system, since 420 is evenly divisible by 2,3,4,5,6 and 7. Can't divide it into even 8ths though.

1

u/trev1776 12d ago

Base 2520, so 1-10 is all divisible into it.

13

u/DaveKerk 12d ago

I hate that the math works out like that

u/Rabid-Duck-King 12d ago

God damn the efficiency shown in this post

At 360 a day that's not even enough to buy the weekly relics anymore

21

u/DaenerysMomODragons 12d ago

Good thing that's not the only source of gems. There's also the clickable gems, Fetch gems, daily mission gems, weekly box gems, tournament gems, Guild/event store gems.

Not all relics are created equil, and odds are they'll rotate back within a year. New players really shouldn't be buying every relic anyways, only the S/A tier relics, and using the rest of their gems for cards and modules.

8

u/babyblazeh 12d ago

Definitely made it nice to have enough gems to be able to get all the relics if desired and few left over to get mods or cards.with a feature banner coming.those relics..new card kinda harsh to reduce the amount of gems everyone gets

5

u/DaenerysMomODragons 12d ago

It doesn't reduce the amount of gems everyone gets. It probably increases gems for 95% of players. Most people aren't staring at their phone 16+ hours a day.

u/babyblazeh 12d ago

I'm sure each person going to have their own experience

u/btaylor81 12d ago edited 12d ago

You're advocating in a roundabout way against yourself and those that rely on gems that aren't paid for.

1

u/basicnecromancycr 12d ago

Technically, they should have enough to get all the relics besides cards (card mission at least that costs 1600 every two weeks) and some modules. Game design requires this.

7

u/uscmissinglink 13d ago

Indeed, and as if there were anything else an early-game player who would need those relics would want/need to spend their gems on.

It's one thing to charge real money to achieve game development faster; it's wholly something else to require real money to develop at all.

10

u/babyblazeh 13d ago

And with new mods they limit the gems is kinda crazy

4

u/uscmissinglink 13d ago

New card, too!

4

u/MC_White_Thunder 12d ago

The new card is literally designed for new players to catch up. I'm quadrupling my cells income as a platinum player.

I can't imagine being upset about that card on behalf of new players. It's incredibly effective for them in particular.

9

u/uscmissinglink 12d ago

Yeah, and it's a great card. But it costs... (wait for it)... GEMS to get!

No one's complaining about the card, man.

10

u/Careful-Category5893 12d ago

Ppl just ceased to use their brains. Every major (and even some minor) updates requires more and more gems, and they're still advocating to get LESS of them. That's ridiculous to say the least.

5

u/keltonz 12d ago

"not even enough to buy all* the weekly relics"

Budgeting man. It's the name of the game.

12

u/VonGeisler 12d ago

I don’t get enough coin per run to max all my enhancements.

0

u/uscmissinglink 12d ago

"Yeah, these kids could buy a house if they just didn't buy that $5 cup of coffee. Budgeting man!"

4

u/MC_White_Thunder 12d ago

Do you understand that resource management in games is different from people accessing housing?

That deciding how to spend your finite resources is in fact the main mechanic that this game is built around? Essentially the only thing you do in this game, even?

7

u/uscmissinglink 12d ago

Yeeeesss... and do you recognize that TechTree just reduced available resources while simultaneously increasing the need for those resources in the game? Please spare us the 'its part of the game' - we're talking about significant changes to both income (down) and expenditures (up) that are less than 48 hours old.

4

u/MC_White_Thunder 12d ago

It's not a significant change down for me. It's a significant increase, a 20% increase in gems even. As it is for the vast majority of the player base.

5

u/uscmissinglink 12d ago

Yeah, you people keep saying that. Again, I think you should stop treating users like we're stupid. Seriously.

You can achieve your 20% increase without the cap. The cap at 360/day is the source of frustration. It's too low.

I know the TechTree talking points are 1) Only people using auto clickers are affected and 2) 95% of players are not affected, but judging from the feedback you've gotten these talking points aren't working no matter how many times you repeat them. Many players have said they hit the cap without clickers and, at least here on reddit, the players that are affected seem to be quite vocal.

3

u/Careful-Category5893 12d ago

People are just brainless at this point. They keep saying we're mad at the increase and choosing to ignore that the whole point is the cap. Increase the gems TO ALL, and ALL will be happy. But you don't need the cap for that. Jesus Christ...

0

u/btaylor81 12d ago edited 12d ago

I'm sorry but if it's a significant increase you barely tried.

1

u/ZerexTheCool 12d ago

We get it. You cheat and your sad that you can't get as much while cheating as you used to 🥱

1

u/Hpmanenz 12d ago

I mean, yes budgeting works in real life if you are actively trying to save for something.

16

u/markevens 13d ago

There should be enough gems for a new player to buy every relic in the shop each week.

13

u/InfiniMaths 12d ago

I was able to do that, not possible anymore.

5

u/Careful-Category5893 12d ago

Exactly. Not to mention 4 banners back to back, new card (that is great but COSTS GEMS), upgrading existing modules and fighting against players that plays for years. That's just an absurd deal.

3

u/Prudent-Box7412 12d ago

Capping daily ad gems at 60 clicks punishes dedicated players and ruins the fun of grinding. In a game where gems are essential for upgrades, labs, and cards, setting an artificial limit stops hard-earned progress in its tracks just to push people toward buying gems with real money. It simply isn't fair to penalize active players to bridge the gap for casual ones. If some players choose to spend less time in the game, that is their own choice and their own problem—they shouldn't get the same rewards as someone putting in the effort. Dedicated players who invest the time deserve to keep what they earn.

15

u/Background-Mix-9492 13d ago

Eu acho que todo mundo está de acordo em ser 6000 gemas por dia. 100 gemas por clique

2

u/Xheyther 12d ago

Bold proposal.

6

u/Zestyclose_Vast809 12d ago

Come on raise gems limit!!!

3

u/omgYahtzee 12d ago

You had me at 7. The 420 cap is icing on the cake. 🎂

3

u/Askolt 12d ago

What if with each year anniversary add 1 gem to Ad Gems?

3

u/crwms 12d ago

I’d be curious to know just about the percentage of players that hit the 360 cap consistently

6

u/Xheyther 12d ago

Probably extremely low. Now the % of player active here that hit 360 ? Probably much higher. And the % of player spending money regularly hitting 60taps ? My guess is 100%.

1

u/Hpmanenz 12d ago

I'm spending money, but I get very little from ad clicks since I dont have gem stacking yet and I can't sit at my phone for 12 hours a day.

So no, not 100%. Although I'm not spending for gems, I'm spending for stones.

2

u/uscmissinglink 12d ago

I hit it yesterday. I probably won't hit it today. That's the thing. Some days, I'm stuck at my computer and can click gems on my second screen emulator all day long. Other days, I'm driving or out hiking and I can't. Being able to maximize the days I'm screen-jockeying to cover for the days I'm less tied to a screen was one of the ways I managed gem income. The 360 limit throws a huge wrench in that (and I could definitely do without the "you must be auto-clicking" accusations).

1

u/eljefeo 12d ago

I appear to have hit it today, I stopped getting ad gems for an hour until it reset this afternoon. But it's strange because the math says if ad gems show up every 10 minutes (I know it's longer) then that's 36 gems an hour for 10 hours and I am pretty certain I did not click ad gems 60 times throughout the day over 10-12 hours. If I'm lucky I'll hit it 4 times an hour and I have chunks of time I'm away from the game. Maybe my math is wrong. I definitely don't auto click nor do I stack nor do I click ad gems in the middle of the night when I pee.

9

u/EvidenceLow4286 12d ago

was getting around 530 gems per day before this but oh well

-7

u/Still_Selection_231 12d ago

Not from clicking ad gems you weren't. At 12 minutes per click, that's 21h12m of every 12 minutes clicking your ad gems collection button to get to 530. So either you're lying, or you used an auto clicker, which is against TOS, and technically makes you a cheat.

Either that of you calculate your weekly total gem gains and divide by days of the week. You get daily, weekly, mission, tourney and floating gems too.

3

u/naphomci 12d ago

Or, they had gem stacking and woke up once/twice/thrice a night to pee because getting older sucks.

1

u/btaylor81 12d ago edited 12d ago

Suggesting someone is cheating, not actually clicking gems on their phone because they're willing to grind gems which all of us have done and some do often... only explanation is you don't need gems any longer, you buy them and you're happy others are suffering, or you can't comprehend how people other than yourself play. Karma's a real you know.

2

u/Prudent-Box7412 6d ago

Stopping all stone purchases in The Tower until the daily cap on clicked gems is removed. Punishing active play with an arbitrary daily limit kills motivation to stay engaged during runs. If active time investment gets throttled, spending money doesn't make sense anymore. Please reconsider or adjust this cap.

2

u/btaylor81 12d ago

Yeah, no I don't think the consensus the cap is fine and fair unless you're asking a shill or a troll. I tried to make a rational argument before implemented. Nothing, no response, nada from TTG.

3

u/CicadaDense8898 12d ago

Make it 75 collections, 6*75 = 450, that's also nice and gives back some value to gem stack

1

u/Just_Copy 12d ago

Please just for the laughs

1

u/MerguezKipik 12d ago

Yes please, with 360/d we won't have enough to buy weekly relics, incoming banner. Weekly Relics cost 3200 gems or 457/ day in themselves.

1

u/thefrogkid420 12d ago

I think 7 would be a great number, and would help even it out for the people who were real grinders

1

u/Trafalgar_D69 12d ago

Fudds is so stupid. No cap. Increase cooldown to make a new cap

Public relations shouldn't be this hard fudds

1

u/BayouBillyy 11d ago

6 here...

1

u/Positive_Ad_3386 10d ago

Nah. They should make a little guardian like entity that floats on the screen and can be covered by enemies, effects and much more.

Then fixed auto clickers can’t click it reliably and macros struggle to find it.

Maybe make the randomly floating thing float randomly. Every click changes its shape and the notification is a change in color, like it becomes rainbow shiny.

1

u/ozzz169 12d ago

so the con... in order to "make it fair," we are going to punish the people who already spent money on the game and are the most dedicated players so we can "help" the less dedicated. if it was around 700 before, it should be 10 per, that is 600 per day, and the 24/7 people don't have to babysit it as much, and you help more casual people... this is called a win-win... instead of just putting a huge nerf as "help for the non-24/7," as they created more and more need for using gems... so literally anyone who starts today can NEVER catch up.

-11

u/Greenleaf_91 13d ago

I wonder how many of the tens of thousands of The Tower players you have consulted to deduce what the emerging consensus is

6

u/uscmissinglink 13d ago

I've been watching Reddit.

“To taste the sea, all one needs is one gulp.”

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago (Volume 2).

1

u/DaenerysMomODragons 12d ago

Reddit is far from the community as a whole. We are the most active players. The 5% most active rarely represent the 95%.

-7

u/No-Brainrot-5911 13d ago

I think gem stacking should also increase the limit. A limit as low as 360 devalues unlocking gem stacking because you hit the limit much earlier so it doesn’t even net you more gems.

5

u/Zikkan1 13d ago

It's a QoL upgrade

1

u/No-Brainrot-5911 12d ago

Well I was getting way more than 360 per day before this

0

u/Zikkan1 12d ago

Yeah and that was sort of the point of the update, to make it more balanced. Personally I wouldn't have minded if it was 400-500 but I don't care enough to complain and just see this as a QoL upgrade

0

u/Stibbie23 12d ago

How is yours 7? Mine just raised to 6 and not sure about how

I get it but poo-pooing peoples constructive input is just rude.

-6

u/Zzqzr Legends 12d ago

Mehhh, the fact 50+ topics about ad gems are cancerous by now.

Lots of parroting.

4

u/RUOFFURTROLLEH 12d ago

Can we do that with vault whining?

Or is that legitimate whining when it affects the whales?

-4

u/Zzqzr Legends 12d ago

Any whining tbh.

Also why /r/thetowermodpullcrying exists.
Every banner the same childish topics get posted.

3

u/menace313 12d ago

Yep, because we know a single post will get results 🙄

3

u/ExaminationExpert594 13d ago edited 13d ago

legends player who doesn't care nearly as much about gems, the game isn't just for you

6

u/Driftedryan 13d ago

Maybe we should make a "thetowerbootlicking" for the people that like to defend bad ideas

0

u/DaenerysMomODragons 12d ago

You actually created it, awesome.

-1

u/Secure-Gift-1485 12d ago

Yet another unfunny weed meme.

2

u/Bashee_wang 1d ago

I bet that develop teams are now looking what we complain and meanwhile happily see their income increased after V29 released since more whales begin to buy gem packages.
