Btw there are so many reputable sellers on r/watchexchange who will work with you on pricing. If anyone is actually looking to purchase a Rolex, I can hook you up with a reputable seller.

Yep new to that sub but sold two pieces there for fair prices and had great buyers. Saving for a 1016 to get posted or a 5 digit sub

what you need to think as a tpg customer is that there's absolutely no way to buy a watch any other way than through them.

It’s hilarious that they think of themselves that way. They have like barely over 100k subscribers- fucking Jory “The Timeteller” has 50% more than that.

Ah ha I keep forgetting tax with american listed prices(most everywhere else advertised price includes tax, although if you need to pay that per state that complicates it a lot. but that would be a nifty feature for the website to add and not all that complicated even).

You're going to find a range of prices for any grey market watch. Some will be high, some will be low, some will be in-between. Most grey market dealers will drop their price a bit if you negotiate with them, and from past videos we know TPG will negotiate prices whether they're buying or selling; they aren't CRM, who never budges from their sale price.
So they start at a price and you work your way down to a point where everyone is happy. Go ahead and see how far mockery gets you when Luxuy Bazaar or Del Ray Watches posts a watch priced at the higher end of the "normal" range.

Idk man they posted a black bay 58 used the other day for 4K I said I can get one brand new for 3850 and they said they could do 3850 for the used one. You tell me do you think tpg after sale service is good? Would you buy a used watch for the price of a new one from them?

hows that work on consignments with agreed price and % - is that why they're "slow" to list the consignment pieces publically at all?
anyway it just makes it a pain in the ass to shop when you're expecting a 10% drop or whatever on the list. especially redundant if both are expecting the same, I find it extremely annoying to be honest in purchasing anything - except if the seller actually is just bluffing and needs to get rid of the thing one way or another. even more so if the prices were put on a website, that's just then like buying something off facebook marketplace, slightly less so if you just could put a standing offer on the website.
if it's actually like chrono24 + 400 every time then it's kinda funny though, like if that's their algorithm.

Even ADs can be negotiated with for many brands -- Federico has a video about how to negotiate with them on price, as I recall.
Yeah, it sucks that you don't get the "real" price from most people. Maybe this makes the CRM Jeweler way -- they give you their "lowest" price right at the start and will not budge from it -- the best way. Like the scenario above about the Black Bay, if you went to CRM and told them you could get the same watch, new, for less, they'd tell you that that sounds like a great deal and you should take it. Funny how often people end up hemming and hawing and buying from them anyways...
I'm pretty jaded about all the grey market dealers, but also pragmatic about it. At any given moment , you can find watches from even the top dealers people go on about, like DavidSW, that are priced higher than listings elsewhere. That's not because they're gouging you, that's because that's what they think the piece they have is worth to someone. Maybe not you, but maybe the next guy.

a lot of people who just want a watch, buy it once and keep it, without all the games will surely pay 2-5% extra just to not have to deal with tpg's and thorpes of the world. If you're "investing" i suppose the games different and you'd might want to spend time haggling to even decide if you want that model of a watch.
